wow that's cheap. I bought one of their 12v 100ah batteries last year but unfortunately wouldn't hold a charge

  • Yeah I had one of their 100ah bought last years (older design) my M6 battery Charger shows a capacity of 68 -73 amps. replaced with a kings 200 amp and that is over 205 amps.

    • Odd. I have the same one and charger shows 103 amps. Luck of the draw I guess.

      • Same. I got 2 X 100ah almost 2 years ago and both charged to just over 100ah. They are in parallel and still get around 200ah outof them. But yeah, mine were the original ones they put out with an 100a continuous output rating. I think the following year's l model only had a 50a rating, so obviously very different batteries.

buy the kings or a different one.
    https://www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/kings-200ah-lithium-lifepo4…

the reason being that charge/discharge current is max 100amps
    That means you are limited to a 1100watt inverter (1100/ 13.3(your voltage)/.85(your efficiency) = 97.3amps
    If you had a 150amp discharge then 1700w (1700 / 13.3 / .85) = 150.3amps
    200amp then you are looking at a 2200w (2200 / 13.3 / .85) = 194.6 amps

in saying this is capacity is your MAIN concern and you are only ever using 12v accessories and a small inverter thats probably fine but many are buying lithium to be able to run more power hungry things and this is an area that they come unstuck.
A lot of batteries also may state they are not compatable with being connected in parralel so buying 2 may not give you that double amp output so check the fine print

in the case of the Voltx linked above they DO NOT support parralel or series so buying 2x 200ah will void warranty.

but the VOLTX Plus DO support it

Higher discharge rating is useful for many people, but that Kings Battery is not a good deal.

Like the non Plus VoltX battery, it counts the capacity between a high 14.6V charge voltage, and a low 10V cut off voltage. That maximizes the rated capacity, at the expense of cycle life.

The Kings battery ends up being $220 more for 50A extra output, and a shorter warranty.

The VoltX Plus (and other better quality batteries) rate capacity with less extreme charge / discharge cutoff voltages, and have higher cycle life.

The 200Ah VoltX Plus is currently discounted too, down to $959.20. 200A output, higher cycle life, 5 year warranty. It was discounted to just $857.22 last month.

      • The energy left in a 12V LFP at 11.2V is ~5%. Low V cutoffs (<11V0) are detrimental to longevity as you suggest. So are high V charges. Ideally it should be about 3.5-3.6V per cell for prismatic, cylindrical cells. Don't know about pouch parameters.

Anyone considering a VoltX (or Kings) should watch some of the teardown videos on Youtube
        eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOSnaGev07E&ab_channel=Phil%… There are others.

The PLUS version Phil looked at might have better specs but it had major negs and question marks on the cell quality given the near $1K price tag.

With LFPs, in general you get what you pay for, which is fine for recreational markets.

        • Yep, these are basically some of the cheapest batteries of this class you can buy that meet the bare minimum of not actually being fraudulent.

Which is fine for many uses. I have some of the 100Ah VoltX Plus batteries and I have no doubt they won't supply the same total kw/h over their useful life compared to more expensive brands. But bang for buck is pretty good for my use.

          • @Prong: Kings advertising grade A prismatic cells (with QR codes removed so the cells cant be verified or traced) is arguably fraudulent. Most customers won't know because they don't pull their batteries apart. Kings have been told according to some video comments.

@Igaf: Yep - I just meant the VoltX batteries as I don't have any experience with the others. Even then, probably only the VoltX Plus models, since they don't actually explain exactly how they calculate the rating for cell capacity and cycle life.

I'd also consider the warranty as suspect, since they don't detail the warranty terms I can see. However having a 5 year warranty advertised (with no terms) then makes it much easier to argue rights under the ACL.

              • @Prong: VoltX is careful not to mention the cell grade.

The 200Ah VoltX Plus is currently discounted too, down to $959.20.

200A output, higher cycle life, 5 year warranty.

This appears to be the only Plus model with the 20% sale. Perhaps because the seller has left Plus out of the listing - however all the details match the Plus model.

Brought one going compare with kings one. My mate lives in caravan and been giving the kings one a real workout for 6 months and still goin g strong. So it going be interesting between the 2.

    • Give us a bell about how it goes! Would be interesting to hear about what what the go is

      • +1

I will, my mate using everyday as main power. Half the reviews on YouTube are not true tests

  • +1

How do you pair it with the Bluetti? How do you charge it even or charge the Bluetti with it? Very curious, pulled the trigger on the AC180 as well.

  • Voltx vs kings anyone have any feedback?

    • +1

      Only 100ah though
