Nice time to load up. Love this thinly sliced and pan friend over migoreng with sunny side eggs

    • +3

Looks like it has 29% fat, so basically every third mouthfull is pure fat.

      • +8

Someone negged you, I guess because it's every 29% mouthful.

      • +29

cut it into 3 portions and only eat 2.

        • +8

Or eat all 3 portions but wash it down with diet coke to counteract all fat

        • or add some lettuce to make sure ur eating healthy n not just fat.

        • Cats wouldn't eat this

          • +5

            @[Deactivated]: I totally would

            • +1

@BuyoTheCat: Well, you probably don't know any better however your hooman should

      • +5

Same kind of comment from heathens using 'heart smart' / lean varieties of mince in home cooking without health exceptions. Fat is free flavour and essential to most dishes.

I had 3 large Ferraro eclairs for 1st smoko today , the spam is the least of my worries :(

Fats are an important macronutrient and needed for hormone production and shizz.

Also you start of with no oil and render out quite a bit when you fry it.

    • +3

Isn't that like 200% your daily fat and sodium intake?

      • +6

I’m fairly sure my typical lazy Thursday kfc lunches are like… over 9000 % of my daily sodium

    • Give the spam the ol' soy & sugar treatment like this to take it to the next level

Great with some fried eggs over plain white rice

    • Mama Sita's Tocino Mix, Ingredients: Cane sugar 86%, salt, Anato Powder-cornstarch mix, Citric Acid.

So basically Sugar + Spam (which is basically Fat) = nice dessert?

In all seriousness though - is it a good combo?

Basically Tocino is a sweet cured meat (pork, beef or chicken)

      • @Meeb

In all seriousness though - is it a good combo?

In all seriousness, this will dramatically change the way you look and cook Spam and you may never go back to the way it was. All this in a very good and delish way. Bon Appétit.

I didn't realise people ate this stuff voluntarily.
When I was working in the middle east we got this in our packed lunches, but that's probably the only time I've eaten it since school dinners.

Just Curious why and how they can afford to have Specials all the time…

    • +1

This is how Coles & Woolworths operate, the normal price of groceries is very high so they are able offer lots of items for half price or close.

Check the weekly catalogues & you'll notice a pattern of items on sale every 3rd or 4th week.

      • +1

It would be so cool if consumers could get organized and push back a little. Like making a point of everyone shopping every second week on the same week until they provided more transparent pricing.

      • +1

        Exactly….+1
Lift the regular RRP from $15 to $20 then when sold 1/2 price at $10 the discount is offset by the units they sell at $20.
The overall average sales revenue per unit is around $15, the price to begin with.

        • … and yet I'll only ever pay $10 for that item - not $15 or $20.
So this system is absolutely fine by me !

          • @Nom: I lean more towards it's price is and should be $10. The $20 is a manipulation. Fake markdowns are illegal, the only reason the $20 price point exists is to slime past that law.

    • +2

The marked down price is the real price point.
The 'normal' inflated price is to make you think it's cheap when on special and cause an urgency to buy.

        • The marked down price is the real price point.

Sort of. Lifting the RRP is easier so it averages back to the price it should be overall for total sales in or out of campaign.

        • Curious if that's an opinion or if you have expertise. Can you advise the approx ratio of units moved on/off sale.

          • @tonka: Experience. I have been involved in FMCG for over 20 years. Ratios depend on the product, but in the case of Grocery the average price over 12 months ends up is the regular price regardless of in or out of campaign.

  • I Don't know man I think I am getting spamed by this post

  • Good time to stock up.. Not sure how long they last in storage though but these are so easy to make.

Just put it in the air fryer for 25 minutes at 200C then add few minutes until done.

Another good trick is to make rice in a microwaveable bowl for 12 minutes but the trick is to use cling wrap to lock in the heat and help it cook better.

Easiest meal of my life just need to clean out the air fryer every once in awhile.

Throw the tin in the bin and done.

Now just need to figure out how much to stock up on safely.
