Microsoft Surface Pro 9 i7 16GB 256GB Graphite $1598 + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ The Good Guys

560

Possible price error as the i5/16/256GB is also at the same price. Also, "add to cart" button is missing. Looked around in VIC and cannot find stock. Not sure what is going on however, price match worked at JB! Good luck..

  • Maybe clearance? Note says can only buy in store clearly. I’m sure my two local jb would deny price match for sure (I’ve given up trying after being denied sooooo many times)

    • Was told by JB Maroochydore last weekend that they don't match Amazon..

      • jb mt gravatt said they dont price match bigw, not even 2 min walk away in the same shopping centre.

at least the other one at logan road is kind of fair since they dont have anyone near them for at least a 10-15 min drive.

      • Might depend on the store. I was able to price match a Logitech mouse on Amazon at JB a few weeks ago.

  • I cant find stock anywhere bugger:(

    • Not sure if you've tried Harvey Norman. They price match via online chat and email you a quote and you can place the order online.
I did this for an airfryer a couple of months ago.

      • Just tried price matching at Harvey Norman, they declined :(

        • I believe its a pricing error, its for the i5 version. They both have the same stock code on good guys QIL-00029, but there is no store stock of the i7 at this price, only the i5.

          • @dingaling2: Apparently there is some stock here and there. Just my luck, nothing in all of Tasmania

    This or Apple M1 8/256GB?

    • +4

      Apple, these get so hot

      • +2

So you recommend laptops based on their temperature, and not OS requirements, application compatibility and use cases etc.?

        • +1

For surface pro's, yeah. OP has already indicated that mac os is fine for their usecase.

        • +1

To be fair I agree with you. Thermal temperature is really low on my importance list of features I need.

I guess if it’s on your lap then it might matter. But as an ex apple user so good to be back on a surface personally.

      • +1

Both airs also get hot if ur not just browsing the internet and typing in word.

Unless you need Windows (or a touch screen), M1 for sure. Lifetime windows user and switched to m1 pro 8 months ago. Even now I still prefer Windows as an OS but the performance (video editing), battery, thermals, build of the mac (and even price) is just a no-brainer for my use.

    • MacBook is the better laptop, and iPad is the better tablet, but if you're in the niche that wants a full desktop OS in a tablet then this is the best option.

*Actually, just thinking pen tablets. I think the other majors are now giving MS a run for their money otherwise.

      • Yeah agree, Surface Pro is kind of a niche product. Mostly suitable for people who need a full Windows OS on a compact platform that performs reasonably well.

For general non technical applications Apple products always tend to be better =D

I actually love the SP series as a programmer who works from home most of the time. With a LTE SP and a lenovo portable monitor, I can now work from anywhere with >90% efficiency. Frees me up to run errands on the wheels (say certain happy Wednesdays) yet still stay connected and ready to get back to work within minutes.

        • -4

lol @ programmers pretending to work from home when they really just outsource programming to cheap offshore labor who really just uses AI to program.

          • @CptnObvious: If it were that simple, we'd all be out of jobs.

          • +1

@CptnObvious: It's clear you're not in this field if you really think that!

            • -1

@TheFIREnanceGuy: It's true. The stock market is also now manipulated by AIs to continuously pump AI stock prices so AIs will get stronger and stronger.
Save your books, everything digital is a lie.

  • Hi OP, can you share your JB receipt for us to price match? Thanks

    • Why a receipt? You can just use the link OP has linked

      • Did anyone actually find stock and purchased?

      • Some JB store would refuse price match due to GoodBuys stock level in the local area.

a JB receipt with success price match would be more persuasive.

  • Fanless?

    • I believe only the ARM version is fansless and Intel versions are active cooling.
That's the only reason I refuse to buy Intel Surface Pro. I really wish there was a compartment or opening of some sort where you can brush/blow out the dust off the fan. Getting in by removing the screen is a bit risky.
Apart from that these are great products for everyday use.

  • LG gram 14 is a much better laptop at this price range and portability

  • I contacted Goodguys Highpoint and they gave another discount $28 in total $1570 and jb hifi frankston price matched and I got for $1570

    • Its an i5 tho isnt it?

    • Couldn't DM you… Can you share a receipt for price matching please?

  • I think its a pricing error. The i5 model is the same price and the same stock code QIL-00029

The i5 model has stock everywhere, the i7 model has no stock anywhere that i can find.

JB and HN would not price match because no stock. HN added it is below market value and against price match policy.

I called my local GG store if they can backorder for me and pay the discounted price - all good so got one and paid over phone. Great deal, don't mind the wait.

  • I got one thanks OP!

  • Is the ram and storage upgradable?

    • That's top spec'd except ssd which you can upgrade.

  • Managed to get one
    Awesome price
    Thanks!

    • Awesome, Can you share which store or was it online/price match? Ta

      • JB, talked to the manager, price match

  • Just ordered from TGG. Order through phone, bought gift cards so extra 3% off :)
