Samsung S23+ 256GB + Watch5 fr $999 ($0 Cancellation of $49/M Plan), in-Store, Port-in / New Number @ JB Hi-Fi

1050

Deal ends 3 July.
Edit 29/06: I've switched the deal to the $49 plan as it's a 1 month contract instead of 24 months, preventing issues with cancelling the contract. You can still get a cheaper deal through the 24mth plans.
Edit 01/07: Confirming the $99 plan provides $1400 off an S23+ unlike the previous EOFY $89 plan promo, making the S23+ 256GB $0 upfront. Thanks @BargainsGrabber

The maths based on an S23+ 256GB (starting with the ticketed phone price, minus the phone discount for signing up to a plan, plus any plan cancellation fees) is as follows:

  • $49 plan: 1399 - 400 = $999 (no lock-in contract)

  • $69 plan: 1399 - 850 + 431.25 = $980.25

  • $99 plan: 1399 - 1399 + 766.67 = $766.67 (best value)

The title pricing takes the approach of cancelling the $49 plan immediately without usage. Works out to $999 (+$49 for first month if you use the plan and don't request a refund on that). Works out better value than the all-time Amazon low with the Watch. As with the S23 on the $49/mth plan you can either cancel early or continue your monthly plan, additional to any upfront cost of the S23 purchase in-store.

1) Get an S23+ 256GB outright - or 512GB for $200 more - by signing up to the JB "Upfront" plan in-store (port-in or get a new number, current Telstra customers are ineligible). You'll also have a pending charge for the first month of the plan as soon as you sign up.

Also try price matching Bing Lee for another $42 off

2) Contact Telstra and cancel the plan (CIS here.) Once the Telstra charge for the first month is no longer pending on your card, you can request they refund that if you haven't used the plan (don't install the SIM card). For the $69/$99 plans only, after cancellation you'll be billed a Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee of $431.25 or $766.67 respectively.

3) Redeem Galaxy Watch5 LTE 44mm from the Samsung Redemption website.

Thanks mate. Can't believe a company like Samsung can be so inefficient with their systems and processes.

        • Yes a bit tardy. I've posted a little update below but no news really

It's now been nearly a month since it was submitted, by the time the watch comes it'll be last gen. The delay is kind of ridiculous.

          • @Knightelf: Yes, I'm also getting more and more frustrated with the delay. I understand the half the idea of the promo is to clear stock of the outgoing model. The lack of updates is frustrating however

        • Update: I received my watch in the mail today (29 August).
It was marked shipped on 9 August.
I received an email from Auspost saying I had a parcel arriving from "CONSORTIUM - NSW" on 25 August.
Got an email from Samsung on 28 August to say it had been shipped.

The watch I received was the Watch6 44mm in Graphite.
          It's coming guys!

  • No watch yet, no confirmation yet either which is odd

    • That's weird, you should have received an email confirming your redemption lodgement… it says "Your redemption claim request has been successfully submitted."

Unfortunately the original thread for the free watch offer is closed but it seems people have been checking this thread.

I tried contacting Samsung's live chat support who couldn't offer me much help, but did say I could contact [email protected] or call 1300 362 603(Option 9 then 5) regarding the promo.

I sent of an email asking for an update on time frame for dispatch. They didn't really answer that query but they did let me know they're run out of stock of the Graphite colour and that instead I'll receive the Silver colour.
As everyone else who's shared their claim updates lodged later than myself, it's probably safe to assume that will also be the case for you guys.

I gave the number a call just now and they couldn't give me any more info. They just reiterated that the T&Cs state 'up to 60 days for delivery'.

I'm a little miffed as I'm not big on the silver. Perhaps if I'm lucky I could find someone who received a graphite who'd be willing to do swapsies (Melb SE if anyone's keen 😏)

    • Thanks for the update regarding the colour. I also tried live chat and they just regurgitated the standard 60 day delivery response as well.

Sounds like it could be a while before we received the watch.

Just got an email from Telco promotions saying that all samsung 5 watch are exhausted…so instead they will be giving the samsung watch 6. Can't believe how good of an uodate that is!!

    • For real? That's crazy. Hope I end up with a a 6 rather than a silver 5 😂 but I haven't recieved any such email.

Such an upgrade would be worth the lengthy delay!

        I got the same email.

They said I will get a Watch6 (graphite 44mm LTE) instead. What a brilliant upgrade.

        • Got the same email, very excited!

Finally, dispatch! Received the email day with the tracking number. The tracking shows it was actually dispatched last Friday.
No update regarding Watch6 so that's a bummer for me. But anyway, the gears are turning guys, ever so slowly!

  • Received an email this morning stating the claim has been reviewed and now Approved.
This was following an earlier email stating we would likely get a Watch6 instead.

Tracking page only shows Pending Shipping for now.

Email does state it can "take up to 60 days"

  • I lodged my redemption on 2nd July and I've sent two emails checking on the status, with Samsung eventually sending a generic "we are processing" it email.

They finally advised it was approved and will be dispatched shortly 10 days ago. Still no dispatch email and their redemption website is down.

Something to keep in mind for the next Samsung redemption deal. I wish I could find the original T&Cs now because this seems way too long. If I end up with a Watch6 that'd be a great compromise, but I haven't received any email advising that yet.

    • It shouldn't be far off, but keep in mind that the status can show "Shipped" but the watch won't be given to Australia Post until some days afterwards (typical Samsung online store disorganisation). The T&Cs give them 60 days to ship, but I redeemed mine on 28 June and received it last Friday. Just keep nagging them, you can reach the promotions team as follows: phone 1300 362 603 > option 9 > option 5.

  • Submitted claims on July 3rd and just received the notification today that the item has been shipped.
Will update whether it is the Watch5 or Watch6

      Watch6 received today :)
