Was browsing the net to find a promo code for smsglobal for my new $2 sim and found this

When u sign up, enter the promo code TWEET in the designated field

With smsglobal, you can change the SENDER ID from the settings, so it look like your texting someone from another number. You can also use text instead of numbers for sender ID.

Use it on your iphone or android too : www.smsglobal.mobi , nice and simple interface
Android app (thanks to greenpossum) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smsglobal.…

  • Dunno what to use it for YET, but thanks ! lol ;)

    • It can be useful if you are travelling overseas and you want to text someone back home using the Internet. You can always get 200 for free but only once per number.

  • This can be a load of fun just be careful. I've been using smsglobal for years. I've fooled around with it and called of an enter oz-tag match.

You can change the text id to anything ie.(Mum, Dad, 040000000, I hate you.)

      ALL plans?
Please tell me which prepaid plans have 225 free texts without recharging?

  • +2

    It shows 'Invalid competition code'.

    • +1

Try entering it where it says 'Promo Code' down the page a little further instead.

      • Thanks.

      • Thanks. It works!

$350 pa gee.. isnt cheaper just to get a 2nd prepaid mobile

    • The service is usually used for business purposes such as sms marketing, bulk messaging, sms confirmation, etc.

  • i guess this is good if sending texts cost you money.

  • Can it be used existing customers?

"When u sign up, enter the promo code TWEET"

where can I find 'promo code' when signing up? I tried entering in 'competition code' and does not work as well as 'affiliate code'

    • +1

Promo code is on "Other Information" just below the "Contact Information" and is NOT THE SAME AS COMPETITION CODE.

        • thanks. I haven't received the password on my mobile

        • just curious on your profile pic…are you Mrs. Brown?… Hehe. Love that show. Cant stop watching after downloading the whole 2 seasons. ;]

Wish they have an app for iphone/android where u can sign in and txt without having to use the web browser just to utilize the service. Kinda backwards for an sms intended service where its only available thru their website and not being able to use the built-in phone contacts for easy txting… Thanks for the free credit though.

  • Re invalid codes: If you incorrectly say at the top that you have a "competition code", then the entry box for the "promo code" disappears. So NO to "competition code"!

Worked fine for me and they have a great web interface.

  • Thanks OP & Greenpossum, registered with SMSGLOBAL and installed Android App.
    It's great.

  • does this expire at all?

    • No, but you can only get it once per mobile number.

  • Promo code has expired. I have just tried to sign up.

    • did we ozbargain it lol

        still works to me

Is this for SMSing in Australia only, or can you SMS to overseas as well?

    • Overseas works, but costs differ, which is why the allocation is in terms of credits and not SMSes.

      • Used to be allocated as SMS's 1-2 years ago and same cost for international SMS. :(
        Things have changed.

  • Thanks. Much better than 25 free texts.

  • when I send a message to a friend with a "custom ID" they can't reply.. is there anyway to change this

    • +1

Use your real number instead of disguising yourself of course.

  • the promotion is still on.

    • omg really !! how did u figure :p

It will be on for a while :)

  • i have a question. so do we need internet for this? or is it just like a normal text (SMS)?

  • and what does the sender id do? what is it for?

    • you can put whatever u want in it : God, Jesus, 911 , Superman, Stalker, etc

  • We use www.appointmentsms.com.au as it allows you schedule the delivery time as part of the CSV import (ie. not all imported SMSs are scheduled at the same time).
It also provides a nice calendar view of the SMSs via their website.
Tailored nicely to anyone wanted to use SMSs are a reminder for appointments (funny that… given their name).
