Sony X75K 4K HDR Smart Google TV (Box Damaged): 65" $845 ($1295 RRP) Delivered @ Sony via eBay

First post, be gentle.

I saw that this TV was on sale from Sony and JB-HIFI at a decent deal so I hunted down the best price I could get. Cashrewards was offering 10% cashback through Sony directly, and Sony offers free delivery. JB-HIFI and Good Guys didn't offer anything close to this, plus they charge $50+ for delivery. I saw that the damaged box versions of these were being sold through Ebay at $895, and Ebay is offering the listed coupon for another $50 off for a grand total of $845 delivered. Seems like a pretty good deal, couldn't find anything cheaper.

        6.6/10 , pretty mid

        • We got one recently to replace a Kogan tv. It’s goes pretty good and very responsive. Probably doesn’t compare to a high range tv hence the lower score but much better than a Kogan tv lol.

    Good for plex playback?

Buyer beware. Box damaged could equal damaged goods inside and dealing with Sony "customer b service" is an absolute nightmare.

Cant be as bad samsung customer service after buying from them online? Im still waiting for my refund that was lodged in mid Jan for a faulty soundbar.

      • +1

It’s not so much the wait with Sony it’s just that they send you damaged goods or goods that have problems. Their customer service is appalling.

I waited four months for samscum to refund me, I put in a PayPal dispute and got a refund within a week.

        • Same. Called nearly every day for a couple of weeks. Gave up after realising they just were giving me the run around hoping I'd go away. Lodged a PayPal dispute and was refunded swiftly.

Edit: sorry this was Sony not Samsung.

Was going to say this, I would definitely be recording the unboxing. So many comments of people telling Sony the goods are damaged and Sony refusing to refund as they checked it in the factory and it was fine.

cracking price. shame i only have 1 55" non-4k tv and hardly ever use it.

    • Cracking is right. Big crack on the tv probably.

  • Hi OP, have you seen any good 4k TV about $600? thank you

  • I bought the 50 inch version of this. All I can say is picture is pretty good straight on but angles are not the best for viewing. Remote control is great and streaming services is good. Google TV is great but this TV is not snappy when it comes to using the interface for google TV, nor is the program guide very fast. In fact the program guide has to be the biggest issue for me. It is so slow it literally takes a minute to load each page when you scroll down times and that is when you are lucky. This has nothing to do with connections etc, it is this TV.

  • My 65x90k came damaged from eBay box damaged stock. Waiting to see what they will do. Will be interesting.

I should have videoed the unboxing like others have said.

    • Was the box visibly damaged when you received it? Could it be damaged in transit? My box damaged stock from eBay arrived few days ago with barely any damage on the box, just a small rip to one side no more than 5cm. Tv was perfect.

      • Some bad damage on one side only. It was damaged in transit or damaged at the warehouse.

        • Trying to see if they actually have stock to replace it!!!

JB doing extra 15% last weekend for Sony TV.$995 for the same TV, using 15% perks discount. bundle with 10% Coles and wooli gift card. brought down to $761 Brand new.

  • Wanted to get a good but cheap Sony 65 or 75” tv for my parents , but many models seem to be out of stock

  • Update as someone who ordered this. Arrived yesterday, box had very minor damage on the bottom (we did record the unboxing just incase) . Setup the TV and no issues, no comment on quality since we barely used it (and this is our first TV in yearsbut looked good to me).
