      Inflation.

Wish it is the 256GB version for $447. 64GB is too small for me.

      • +1

        why?
do you put alot of media on it or reason need 256GB?

yeah apple is stingy that they still have 64gb as the minimum storage.
However most people seem to be able to get by with 64gb
if it is just for surfing web, youtube, social media, apps and some games.
Store anything else on the cloud

it is a marketing: like manual transmission on the car.
they make it cheap but this configuration has intentionally been made to be painful to use to promote the "real" version that is not discounted

          • @kanu666: i think 64GB actually does have a huge market that targets

-people who are price conscious, very tight budget
-people who only use it to surf youtube, websites, facebook
-people who don't know or care about the storage, just want an ipad..
            -schools that purchase large orders

And at the same time 64GB used as price + value comparison step ladder for the more techy knowledgeable buyer

            who thinks
-64gb is too low, if I upgrade to 128GB it would cost $150 more etc.
-but at $150 to $300 more I can get the next model up e.g 64Gb Air 5 etc
-but Air 5 only gets 64GB and M1
            -if I get Ipad pro 11 I can get 128GB with M2..
-but if I paid a few hundred more I get ipad pro 12.9 with miniLED

So as a result, Apple has walked you up the price comparison + value step ladder
and you end up getting an ipad pro 11 or ipad pro 12.9..

        • Well yes, I keep some maps for my 4x4 app, and in my current iPad I have used over 60GB of its 128GB storage. And when you are out 4-wheel driving, there is no internet access to cloud storage.

This place feels like a apple AAA meeting.
Hi my name is James and i don't have enough space on my ipad/phone…. It's nice to see Apple people help each other through low space times….. You will never see that with samsung people 🤭🤭🤭

    • But the solution is in the cloud.

Whats that you don't always have internet?

      Its in the cloud. 🤣

      • You don't have to store it in the cloud. For many (most?) people that's what they would prefer anyway.

        • But thats the point. The cloud is not a be all end all. For some a cloud solution is not a workable solution for them. Me included.

      • Cloud is not always the solution. When you are away somewhere with no internet access, cloud storage is useless.

        • Thought the laughing emoji was the giveaway that i was being sarcastic.

          • @xoom: Sorry that emoji wasn't clear. I thought you were laughing at MR01 for not knowing about Cloud.

  • The problem with storage, what acceptable today can become unacceptable in a few years. 4gb was fine at one time too.

  • @edfoo try using your cloud without internet! So smart..

    • LOL, just poking fun at xoom on the obvious fact.

The comment about you is you being not aware of this Cloud service, that's all. Obviously you know about it.

      • Im the one poking fun of the people who say "just use the cloud for storage." Like its a solution when you don't have access to the internet where you want access to your files.
