  • Was keen to go up to Coles and grab 4 x $100 cards to use at JB to combine with the Sonos Sub Mini special & $30 off if spend over $300 perks offer… Sounds like it's a bit of a risk and there's quite a few dramas going on!

    • I agree, I am going to hold off for the moment and see how it plays out. Not worried about cards selling out though, I think with the economy not as many people buying them at the moment

  • Purchased 4x HIM cards yesterday evening. Not one of them have the added bonus. Ultimategiftcard phone rep blamed Coles and provided no additional support regarding the bonus value.

    • Hi Jev: Firstly, make sure this "Him" card is from Ultimate gift card, not "TCN". Then try this website https://exchangeyourcard.com.au, you don't have to click through to swap, but you should be able to see the balance of it in there.

      • Hi hakiu, while I appreciate the reply. It’s not my first rodeo when it comes to gift cards. The gift cards in questions are The Ultimate gift for Him. I apologise as ‘HIM’ typically refers to the card network. Now regarding this deal, it’s been a completely blunder from what seems to be mainly Coles. I’ve contacted Coles and had to send through evidence supporting my purchase along with the giftcard details. They’ve stated it will be looked into, who knows how long that will take…
No cards have the added bonus

        • Yeah really hate 'bonus value' offers compared to 10% off. With the 10% off, you know for sure that the offer has applied otherwise you would not have paid for it. With bonus value offer, you only find out the issue after payment and it is a huge hassle trying to resolve the issue / get a refund.

  • Yesterday went to Perth City Coles Central started scanning the cards at the self serve then the lady came to me, those card are not on discount, I was scanning the Eat cards. Not sure what she said but She said Perth City Coles Central is not doing the discount or the discount does not apply. Thanks, hope this help those going to Perth City Coles Central.

I bought 5 Ultimate Home cards at the Perth City store yesterday afternoon. Balance is showing $115.

    • hi! I assume you didnt buy the eat cards given the lady's advice ? or if you did, can you confirm you got the additional 15% value? i wonder why the home card had plus 15% (as per jasonx) but not eats card…. im planning to buy tomorrow but maybe not in city.

  • heading down to my local coles at lunch time, i called ahead to make sure they had some and they said its only on the $50's. I was planning on getting the $100 home or everyone cards.

    • It works on the $100 ones

  • Anybody able to add gift card to apple wallet(for apple pay)? I tried so many time, but it's not working.

    • I have been blocked, so I couldn't add the card to my account or check the balance. But I can add the cards to GPay with expire date 12/29.

  • +3

I drove around a few Perth Metro stores this morning. The only store with $100 Ultimate Home and Ultimate Him cards was the Maylands store. They had plenty left. I hope that helps somone still looking.

Purchased just less than an hour ago, 5x Ultimate home gift cards $100 in store Coles. Checkout lady was insistent that it wasn't working. Bought it anyway. Checked balance on https://myprepaidcentre.com.au and got balance of $115 on all 5 cards, seems to be working just fine from my experience. As comments had already mentioned, make sure its the Blackhawk Network issued card, at the back in terms & conditions.

  • I bought a mouse from JB hi-fi using the gift cards and if I return the mouse for a refund, what would I get back? The credits back to the gift card or JB hi-fi credits?

  • I just bought 6 x Ultimate Home GCs. Checked the balance on myprepaidcentre.com.au and all add the additional $15 applied.

  • If you wanted to buy a ps5 with these cards can it be done online at jbhifi or do you need to go in person ? Ie can you redeem 11 gift card online at jb

    • id say go in store.

    • +1

Online: not all at once, has to be 2 per day at most.

Store: easy. I just used 6 to buy a PS5

    • Didn't work for me online. Used $900 worth in store to buy a TV.

  • Hello All,

Apologies for the issue regarding checking balances. All balances should be displayed via the My Prepaid Centre website as per the Ultimate Gift Cards website.

    Thanks,
    James

    • Bought ultimate everyone $50 X 5 cards yesterday, all of them only show $50 each! Do I need to contact someone or wait a bit more?
Called ultimate gift card & they had no idea of this promotion!

    • +5

Hi James, My account was blocked when I tried to check the card balance? And many other people reported samed thing. Can you please check what's going on?

    • +1

No, can't add or check balances. Keeps saying 'You have been blocked.'

  • Just bought 5x ultimate kids, extra 15% applied

  • +4

    Walked into Coles.
    Bought 5 x Ultimate Home $100 cards.
(asked to use Gift Vouchers… she tried, but the option isn't even there anymore 😅)
    Bought on my credit card.
    All 5 Approved.
    Checked the balance straight away.
$115 balance (only check one card)
    Walked straight into JB Hi-Fi.
    Bought Gift Card for $115.
    Swipe, Pin, Enter… Approved 😊
    (Blackhawk Network 4578)

    • Have since checked all cards and all confirmed to have Bonus Value Added (also mentions this at the bottom of the Coles receipt after "Gift Card Scam Alert")

    • Also bought JB Hi-Fi Gift Card online for $115 (there's an option to set a variable amout). Came through within 30mins.

    • (not important, but I also noticed some packaging have Apple Pay, Goole Pay, Samsung Pay logos in the top left and some don't. I don't think this matters, but just logging this for reference)

  • Could not see any that didn't have variable load.

    • Professionals have cleaned out your Coles.
You should be honoured they shopped there 😂

  • +3

I just bought 5 x $50, I checked the 15% value have been added. You can also checked on the receipt, just under the “Gift Card Scam Alert” note, it stated “Bonus value applied”. Hope this help you all.

    • Yes! Thanks for pointing this out. I’ve just checked my receipt and got the same “bonus value applied” note right at the bottom of the receipt.

    • Can confirm my receipt also stated “Bonus value applied”. However no bonus value was applied upon checking all balances 😰
This is still the case and the gift cards in question are Ultimate Him x100 and x50. Guess I just was unlucky

      • Same has happened with ultimate everyone $50 X 5 cards that I bought yesterday evening!

  • +1

Just a heads up that the participating retailers of a number of Ultimate gift cards changed earlier this week (and this is already reflected in the deal description):

    • Roblox was removed from the Ultimate Baby & Mum gift card (which is not really relevant for this deal, as Ultimate Baby & Mum gift cards are not sold at Coles, but I also strongly suspect Ultimate Baby & Mum gift cards were not supposed to include Roblox in the first place).

    • The Bavarian was added to the Ultimate Eats, Everyone, Her and Him gift cards.

    • YUM, I have not been to the Bavarian for a while but happy to see that added. Does this apply to older cards with existing credit as well? I assume so but would like to double check.

      • Yes

      • +1

I would not recommend supporting the Bavarian and their known scum additional fees.

  • +6

What an absolute shambles of a promotion.

Just do 15% off so we know it’s actually working.

  • @WookieMonster Ultimate Eats has been failing when trying to pay via ApplePay via the Boost App. Works fine when used in store by Boost (declined by Blackhawk). Pretty sure I remember testing this with the Nandos App with ApplePay and that works fine.

Who would I contact to resolve? Is it Boost, Ultimate Eats, Blackhawk? Don’t suppose you have a contact email handy for someone who can help resolve this?

    • +2

I suspect it is because Boost does not accept Ultimate gift cards through the Boost app. Is there something to suggest it should work in the Boost app, because the Ultimate Eats gift card page has never listed Boost as accepting it online (which is what it would need to be listed it for me to believe it is accepted on the Boost app).

On the same vein, I am surprised that Ultimate gift cards are accepted on the Nando's app, because Nando's is not listed as accepting Ultimate gift cards online. To be fair, I am assuming that the participating retailers list on each Ultimate gift card page is accurate, which is a bit of a stretch…

I do not have a contact email handy, but my suggestion is you contact Blackhawk Network (the gift card issuer) in the first instance. It is up to them to work with Boost if Boost wants to accept Ultimate gift cards through their app. You could try to go through the generic Blackhawk Network contact channels, but my experience of Blackhawk Network's email support and call centre reps are that they suck. A better approach may be to politely ask one of the Blackhawk Network reps on OzBargain, as they may be in a better position to direct your query/request to the right person.

  • +1

My card balances are now reflecting the added bonus value. If you still don’t see your added bonus, chase up Coles customer support.

    • My friend went to JB HI-FI and they said they are not aware of the promo and told my friend no extra value was on the cards. Awful.

Friend had to pay extra. False advertising from Coles/Ultimate Giftcards. JB took the cards ans told him to chase up with coles.

Now he has to go back to jb to get those cards.

      JB has shredded the cards

      • +2

why would your friend need to ask JB hifi anything about a Coles/Blackhawk promo? Has nothing to do with them.
You tell them you are paying via credit card, split payments @$115 or whatever card your friend bought. They don't touch your cards. It is not their right to take the cards from you or swipe the cards for you unless you want them to.

      • +3

If JB Hifi shredded the cards, then they will have to replace it.

The card is not JB Hifi property to destroy especially if there is funds (disputed or otherwise) on there.

      • Update:

JB hi-fi called friend back and told him they confirmed with Coles that the promotion is active and there is extra value left on the giftcards. He can pickup the cards from JB hi-fi.
Suddenly they found the cards again.

They told him that he can dispute with Coles if he wants a refund of the money he paid to JB hi-fi other than the giftcard.
        One lie after another.

Coles did nothing wrong, they activated the card instantly with the bonus value.

Employees committing some fraud for sure, keeping the giftcards for their own benefit. I told my friend to make a complaint about the staff at JB hi-fi.

JB hi-fi Gepps Cross, South Australia.

        • +3

I would be posting it on JB Hifi socials. Get it out there in public and give it the publicity it deserves.

It is OK to be misinformed, it is not OK to steal from your customers.

          • @t25: Update: Friend went to JB Hifi today. They realised their mistake.. Then used the $90 from gitcards.

            PS5 digital with 2 controller cost $739

Perks discount: $30 off $300+ spend.

            PS5 price: $709

            giftcards: $690 + $19 cash from $109.

            They refunded him the $90.

        • Your friend shouldn’t have let JB keep the cards. How would they dispute the amount with Coles if they didn’t physically still have them.

          • @Magical Sound Shower: Yeah he should not have continued with the transaction as soon as they said there's no extra balance. If he didn't call them back, they would have kept the cards to themselves. Some fraudster.

    • Thanks what’s there number

  • Used several cards ($100) at JB HIFI but they did not scan at $115. Had to go through the transaction anyways. Now chasing Coles Customer Support to get the promo credit added in. A bit frustrating.

  • Im having issues with this card installing into applepay, WTF is with this sh8tty card issuer. First rejected from OW and now this. Nothing works

I checked expiry date on prepaid centre which is more than 3 years so tried both 3 years from card issue and the one online but ends up saying invalid card details.

    • +2

      The expiry date is 12/29.

  • What's the best way to use these for JB's? I've got 6 $100 cards and 26 $50 cards.

I'll be using them to put towards a camera. So I'll use them all at once.

    • +2

The best way (or at least the least painful way for you) is to go into a JB Hi-Fi store and make the purchase there. The alternative is to turn them all into JB Hi-Fi gift cards and purchase the camera through the JB Hi-Fi online store, but once you read this FAQ, you will see why I think you really should make the purchase instore if you can.

      Some other tips from me:

      • I would use the physical gift cards to make the purchase, rather than messing around trying to add the physical gift cards to mobile wallets. When I made my last purchase at JB Hi-Fi last week using an Ultimate gift card, I was using it from a mobile wallet. However, the first two times I tapped my mobile wallet, I got extremely weird error messages on the EFTPOS terminal. Then there is the intermittent issues with adding them to a mobile wallet, plus general limits with adding payment cards to mobile wallets in a short period of time…

      • Remove the physical gift cards from the packaging and scratch to reveal the PINs before you get to JB Hi-Fi. It will help speed up the checkout process, and it also indicates to staff that you are prepared and are not going to waste your time nor their time at the store.

      • Try to complete the purchase at a JB Hi-Fi store during a quieter time if you can. Although some staff will happily pose for a photo of a JB Hi-Fi receipt where 81 Ultimate/TCN gift cards were redeemed in a single transaction, some other staff get annoyed at customers who turn up with a small pile of Ultimate/TCN gift cards. I was making a purchase at JB Hi-Fi on the evening of 30 June, and the store had heaps of customers, plus there was a decent queue at the checkouts. It turned out that there was a customer who was there a few minutes earlier redeeming about 20 Ultimate gift cards, so when I eventually got to the front of the queue, the staff member apologised for the length of wait, and whilst I was chatting away with them, they mentioned the customer from a few minutes earlier and said they should have picked a different time to complete the purchase, especially since the customer was messing around pulling gift cards out of packaging, scratching PINs and trying to figure out available balances whilst at the checkout.

      • Make sure to tell the staff member you want to split payments across multiple cards or Visa cards. A lot of JB Hi-Fi staff members will know how to correctly process Ultimate gift cards if they see you holding the colourful gift cards, but a less experienced staff member may not what to do, especially if you tell them you want to redeem a gift card. To a lot of JB Hi-Fi staff, a gift card is a JB Hi-Fi gift card, which is an issue in terms of their redemption vs the redemption of Ultimate/TCN gift cards, as JB Hi-Fi’s POS systems handles the redemption of JB Hi-Fi gift cards very differently to the redemption of Ultimate/TCN gift cards.

      • Remember that when you swipe an Ultimate gift card on an EFTPOS terminal at JB Hi-Fi, you will need to select CR when asked to pick a payment network, then you need to enter the PIN. Some merchants (e.g. Officeworks) will automatically select CR for you as soon as you swipe the gift card and go straight to the PIN prompt screen.

      • Keep track of the available balances of each of the Ultimate gift cards, especially with this deal being a bonus value deal. I am not sure whether all your gift cards have the bonus value added to it, so make sure they all have it before you get to JB Hi-Fi.

      • +1

Thanks for all that info WM. I just sat down and checked balance on all 30 ultimate home cards 🫨 and all have $115 value. I hope i don’t have trouble using them at JB of good guys later this year when I need them!

      • +1

That's brilliant Wookie. Thanks heaps for that.

Yep, getting the cards ready and at a quiet time makes sense.

  • Those who use JB Hifi Price Match online are you able to bring the basket (sent via sms) instore to pay for it or must this be done online only? Sorry this is my first rodeo using multiple Ultimate Home Gift Cards.

    • Tried that once and caused a big ruckus in store. I also needed to use multiple ultimate gc. The store manager told me HQ price match usually is not honoured in store but after a bit of back and forth they agreed to just do it this once.

      • I manage to do this without any problems. Got the Sonos beam gen 2 + Sub mini, both black with 11 x Ultimate Home cards (last card with $15 left over)

        • Nice! Guess i just got a bit of a knob head of a manager then.

  • +3

Lots of people still seem to be confused as to which card to buy to get the bonus value.

Make sure you buy a card that looks like this..

It is an example of Ultimate Gift for Home card.

Every Ultimate Gift Card will say the phrase Ultimate Gift for™ Home/Him/Her/Kids/Student/Everyone etc.

Make sure the card says specific amount, $30, $50, $100. Not variable between $50 - $500.

DO NOT BUY CARDS THAT JUST SAY Home/Him/Her

Refer to the image link posted by OP

  • If you are still looking, there is plenty of stock of Ultimate Home $50 gift cards at Perth Raine Square. Bought some this morning and bonus value has been applied. Limit of 5 though.

  • If I wanted to use these at JB-HI Fi, do you need to buy from Coles then use the cards to purchase JB gift cards afterwards?

    • do you need to buy from Coles

      Yes.

then use the cards to purchase JB gift cards afterwards?

      Not necessarily.

      • If you are purchasing instore at JB Hi-Fi, you can directly use Ultimate gift cards as a payment method, much like you would redeem Visa cards instore. If you have multiple Ultimate gift cards to redeem, you need to tell the staff member at the checkout you would like to do split payments across multiple cards (or multiple Visa cards). (You can read more about it here.)

      • If you are purchasing online at JB Hi-Fi and you only need to use one Ultimate gift card to cover the cost of the order, you can use it to pay for that order online.

      • If you are purchasing online at JB Hi-Fi and you need to use more than one Ultimate gift card, you must convert all (or all except one) Ultimate gift card into JB Hi-Fi gift cards first. JB Hi-Fi will only let you use one Ultimate gift card in one online transaction. (You can read more about it here.)

      • Wookie, you seem to know a lot about these types of offers. Can I ask do you know if the stores ever restock the $100 cards half way through a promotion? I know the shelves are usually empty during the sale. And then, invariably, on the Thursday after the deal, they get replenished.

        • +2

For Ultimate gift cards, those are usually restocked by Blackhawk Network via courier. Once delivered, it is up to store staff to open the parcel and restock the gift card shelves.

I was at one Coles supermarket last night where the store received a parcel from Blackhawk Network, which contained bundles of $50 and $100 Ultimate Him gift cards $50 Ultimate Her gift cards, as well as bundles of Telstra SIM cards and Lebara SIM cards (and some other gift cards / SIM cards I did not really take much notice of). The parcel was left at the front of the gift card shelf, which is unusual, because you do not normally see a Coles store leave such parcels lying around.

Whether your local store will be restocked depends on a number of factors:

          • Will the store order additional stock?
          • Will the store's order be fulfilled?
          • Will the store receive the parcel in time?
          • Will the store staff actually open the parcel and make the gift cards available for purchase whilst the promotion is still going?

This is all really up to store management, so their attitude towards gift card deals will largely dictate the answer to the questions above.

Additionally, I do not know whether a store can specifically ask for more Ultimate gift cards, or whether they just have to ask for more gift cards and hope the package from Blackhawk Network contains some Ultimate gift cards.

  • +2

I bought $150 of these to purchase a pair of Adidas runners. The Adidas logo is printed on the front "Use instore Use online" is printed on the back. Then I find out that these vouchers cannot be used online with Adidas.

    Honest to God.

  • Sorry for the dumb q.
If I link a ultimate gift card to google pay on a nfc phone, can I only paywave in the shops on the card? Or can I use it anywhere where visa paywave works?

    • +1

If you add an Ultimate gift card to Google Wallet, you can only redeem it at participating retailers accepting that Ultimate gift card and Google Wallet.

  • Anyone know where in adelaide still has the Home and/or everyone GC still in stock?

  • All $30, 50, 100 all working on this $15 bonus from Coles purchase on https://myprepaidcentre.com.au/!!!!!

    P.S. TCN gift cards don't work….

  • Fingers crossed UGC run the promo with discounted cards like usual next time

  • Is there a convenient and working way to load these cards onto google wallet to avoid carrying them around?

    • You would need to manually add them as a new payment method on Google Wallet, which means that each Ultimate gift card you have will appear on Google Wallet as a separate payment card.

My suggestion is to be careful with how many you add to a single Google Wallet in a short period of time. Someone last year tried to add 20 Ultimate gift cards to their Google Wallet in a short period of time, but after adding 12, Google blocked access to their Google Wallet due to suspected fraudulent activity.

      • @WookieMonster I added 1 x Ultimate Everyone and 1 x Home to Google Wallet. Interesting that the cards were rejected initially. They were accepted when I changed the expiry date to 12/29 from the actual date 07/26.

        • For physical Ultimate gift cards, the expiry date you use for online purchases and adding to a mobile wallet is 12/29.

For Ultimate e-gift cards, the expiry date you use for online purchases and adding to a mobile wallet is three years from the date the gift card was issued.

  • Is today 18th still valid for bonus or did I just miss out?

    • This promotion ends at the end of today, so you have not missed out just yet.

      • +1

Ok thanks for your confirmation! Hopefully I can get some today :)

  • Thinking of buying some today.

I would like to seek some clarity.

Is it 15% off any denomination or you pay the said amount plus an additional 15% worth of bonus money?

    • 15% bonus will be added to card of any fixed denomination (excludes variable).
You pay the fixed denomination amount on card.
      E.g. $50 card will get $57.50 value & $100 card will get $115 value.
Bottom of receipt will state bonus value added.

        Thank you mate.

I know the deal is over, but I did another check of participating retailers a few minutes ago and noticed some changes that happened within the last 48 hours or so.

    • Pet House has been removed from Ultimate Home gift card, which means they are no longer a participating retailer in the Ultimate gift card scheme. The FAQs makes it clear that Pet House no longer accepts Ultimate gift cards.

    • Dangerfield has been removed from the Ultimate Style/Shopping gift card, which means they are no longer a participating retailer in the Ultimate gift card scheme. The FAQs makes no mention of Dangerfield, so I have reached out to Blackhawk Network to get clarity on this. However, my default assumption is that if a participating retailer is no longer part of the scheme, they no longer accept Ultimate gift cards.

    • It turns out that some Ella Baché locations do not participate in the Ultimate gift card scheme. The guidance is to contact your preferred Ella Baché location (or call 1300 934 916) to see whether your preferred location accept Ultimate gift cards as a payment method.

(I doubt these changes affect too many OzBargainers, but I thought it would be worth flagging anyway, because this was a popular deal, plus it illustrates that participating retailers really can leave the Ultimate gift card scheme without any warning.)

    • so retailers can just pull out from accepting these cards? Id hate for jb or good guys to stop as im sitting on quite a few of these home gift cards lol.

  • Binge/Kayo/Steamotion swapping only allows $50 of the $57.50 to be swapped, as a custom amount cannot be entered. Lame.
