Nothing wrong with them but the location is Europe/NA. Much more competition there than AU

I had a private 24/7 mass video conferencing community of 200~ for YEARS hosted on a SoYouStart (ovh owned) VPS….

Because it was such a massive undertaking for myself, who doesn't know programming (only tech duct-taping), I didn't have the expertise to build something that didn't boot everyone immediately, with any slight blip of downtime, which also caused everyone needing to manually reconnect.
At one point, I trialed moving to Contabo, which is like an ultra low cost but decent enough competitor…
But with Contabo, there would be maybe 1 or 2 seconds of downtime, every day, at peak times.
I definitely could have coded around such a small amount of consistent downtime if I knew what I was doing…. But… that is when I came to really appreciate just how stable OVH's servers are…

Without OVH, everyone would have known how bad I was at programming.
    Thank you OVH.
Their consistent uptime was amazing 👍.

    • Thanks for your feedback @musicinbed69 :)

  • Can we install our own OS, or locked to the selections chosen at signup? I want to run a few small apps in Proxmox

    • hello @plague69 the list of OS available is here https://www.ovhcloud.com/en-au/vps/os/
We have a BYO image feature but on Dedicated Server: https://help.ovhcloud.com/csm/en-au-dedicated-servers-bringy…

      • Thank you for sharing. I was hoping to load my current Dedicated setup onto a VPS with Proxmox, then I can just install Proxmox onto the dedicated and throw the VPN server back VM back onto Dedicated. I didn't want to spin up another Dedicated because of the setup fee and also you don't offer the 7700k 64gb servers anymore.

I'll look into migration options, maybe a direct copy from Dedicated to your VPS and then manually migrate the VPS OS to a Proxmox VM
