Damn good price. Will not to buy .. slipping ….. away.

Like you I always wanted to buy one…but everytime I see someone post this comment I stop:

      IT HAS NO SD SLOT.

      • I don't use SD slot on my tablets. Think about iPad2, new iPad. You can only get 16GB iPad2 now.. and they are still selling well.

        • +2

i use the camera kit with the ipad316gb. load up sd cards and usb sticks with movies in a DCIM directory and you've got unlimited external movie storage.

        • It sells because the majority of the people who buy it are begging mum and dad to buy them one because their friends all have one.

          Kids don't care about specs.

        • +3

I think non-IT people (which would account for majority of people) generally cannot be bothered copying movies to SD card.

The expectation from non-IT people in terms of what the technology should do for them is actually higher. If I cannot show a movie on the tablet to my family members with no IT/computer knowledge within 2 minutes (generally 30 seconds or less), they would simply walk away. So if I had to spend time to copy movies onto SD card, they would tell me to forget it pretty much right away.

        • +1

does this situation really happen to you a lot??? After it transfers, cant you just walk over to them or call them to you to show them? why dont you just offer to show them after you have transferred it? And if you are transferring it, its therefore on a computer, so why dont you just show them on the computer?

i dont get this at all :(

        • Basically, they don't see tablets as must have nor the best way to watch movies. Let's say they want to watch a movie and it happens to be on my NAS, then I might have a chance to show them on the tablet by remote streaming. Otherwise, they go and do something more "fun".

They told me that they prefer to watch movies/shows on TV or even the PC with a bigger monitor (more so than the new iPad - which has the Retina Display). They can find/select/start what they want to watch quicker on the PC. It is annoying for them to wait or workaround the limited interface on the tablet app.

Would you watch movies from SD card when you use your laptop or PC? If the answer is no, but you are willing to do that for tablets, it actually means you are making a compromise.

        • I see where your coming from as to why it's not the best alternative for watching movies but you should think about convenience. That's one of the reason's why I see people getting into tablets is the fact that it's more convenient then carrying around a laptop and the fact that you can use it anywhere. It's not really supposed to be an alternative to a laptop or computer it's just meant to be a really convenient item. To answer your last paragraph, Yes I would rather watch movies on a pc or laptop but if I was to say catch a bus to work I'd rather bring my tablet along because it's a lot easier to do so.

I just talked myself out of buying one of these….. Now I'm torn wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Why do I have no will power?

  • Wow… That is cheap.
Saw them for $316 @ Officeworks (not that they are the cheapest retailer going!)
What's shipping like from Bing Lee?
    Really tempted to order one!

    • They were quick to post the item I purchased last time.

However, I hope Bing Lee have them in stock… otherwise.. could be a long wait.

    • -4

Not cheap. Google announced it was gonna be $199 tablet after marked up for consumers. Now look what the price is.

      • +4

That was in the US and for the 8GB version

  • +2

People still "thinking"?? Better be quick I reckon.

    • +5

It was sold out this morning but is available again. So I placed an order and post it.

      • Thank you very much for posting it.

  • Is it free shipping? It does not say, and the freight estimate is $10.20

    • When I placed an order, it is free shipping, i selected pick up though.

      • Yeah the shipping changes to $0 when you checkout…Great price!

        • Sold out again! Ozbargained.

  • You can probably price match with JB if you don't have access to Bing Lee. Ps, Kindle Fire 2 will come out soon so the price may drop again!

    • I can't find a store, JB or otherwise, that has these in stock in Western Sydney.

  • oh man this is tempting.

    • Just buy it! You know you want to…

  • +1

This product is currently out of stock. :(

  • +1

I have a 8GB … I must resist …. but then … it would make a good present for my smaller one !

    • 8GB is good enough I reckon. IT gadgets evolve too quickly. More Tegra 3 tablets on their way. Amazon Kindle Fire…. Possibility of iPad Mini.

  • +1

currently out of stock when you try to add to cart.

    • yep, gone!

  • +8

glad it's out of stock, I gotta stop myself for buying this

    • +1 else another impulsive buy

  • Can anyone post a image after you apply the code and add to cart? So that we can price match?

  • +1

    My fisrt post.

I tried to convert 'fisrt' into roman numerals. That's a lot of posts dude!

    • I don't mind first/fisrt posts like this one. Keep them coming.

  • fkkk OOS

  • I'm thinking of getting one, but I think I'll wait for the Ipad Mini and the subsequent price drops in the Nexus.

Then again, I might change my mind and want the 10 inch one. :P

    • +1

You will change your mind to get both.

  • Quick question. As I want to buy this tablet for my mum and she uses it mainly for youtube browsing of chinese videos, are their language options for the nexus 7? Both in terms of typing in chinese and reading in chinese?

    • +1

You can install app to handwrite chinese like gpen and reading shouldn't be any problem on android.

    • +1

Did you miss the deal while asking the question? :)

  • +1

Strange; It says its 'in stock' but when trying to add it says its 'out of stock'

    • +2

      just a crappy website lol?

  • Wherz that damn Bing Lee rep!

  • Wonder if this is a reliable seller, nexus 7 16gb for $244

    http://www.becextech.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=2…

    • +2

      Postage: $74.95

Cheap out previous deals from this store and the discussions. In short: AVOID.

      • This site gets more detailed and informed every day, didnt know there was a store - discussion.
But that is quite expensive for postage! But if you could get a price match that would be great.

      • I don't think its necessary to avoid, I almost bought a nexus 8 gig from them today, yes the shipping is expensive but with the smart phone I also wanted - HTC XL - the total shipping is $100, so the smart phone and tablet with that shipping is still cheaper than anywhere else. BUT then I realized what am I doing spending $820!! so I didn't get it, but it might be ok for someone who wants to buy several things from them.

        • +1

At $318.92 for Nexus 7 (inc. postage), you might as well go to JB, EB or Officeworks to get it and get proper service and warranty / refund etc…

    • +1

Only good if they have pick up option, so that we can price match.

Or if you fool OW to price match before the high delivery charge.

    • Even after the high postage cost's it kind of just comes on top of what the other stores (Eb, Ow, Jb) are selling for just for the fact that you can choose between getting a free car charger or free screen protector and it all add's up to 1 dollar more then what the other stores are selling for. Very tempting I must say but I've never dealt with BecExTech so if anyone can give any previous experiences they've had that would be great for me seeing that I just put one Nexus on hold for over the weekend at Eb. From what I've been skimming over BecExTech seem to be a very Legit business and they do cover the usual standard 1 year warranty as well so I'd say people should consider it. On the subject of the Nexus I have to say that in Australia the price is not going to come down anytime soon as the demand for it has been huge and now is a good time as any to buy 1. If only Bing Lee could give us some answers as to when they would get more stock but as I was talking to one of their customer helper's online yesterday they seem to not have any idea when that will be and I just know that if I buy one now then a couple weeks later Bing Lee will have some more in stock for cheap again. Arghhhh

stopped checking ozbargain for 1 hour and this happens…

    • WHYYYY! The ONE day i'm out of the office and have no net access T_T

  • damn i missed out by 2 hours and 7 minutes…..

  • is there any way to subscribe just for the nexus 7 :X

  • BTW, the coupon code (5FACEOFF) no longer works even with other items on the website.

    • +1

Well… after a popular OZB deal, you would expect them to end the discount code very quickly.

  • Damn it.

Was at work and missed this. :(

    • This is why your not supposed to work. so you can get all the Ozbaragin deals….. only to not have any money to buy them..evil circle.

  • Very good price. I paid $315 recently, why the hell couldn't the wife's birthday have been a few weeks later! Great little tablet and a definite bargain at this price.

  • If anyone has been able to get this price matched at any of the other stores can they let us people know so we can save money too!

    • JB will price match, I asked at Rouse Hill, but they had no stock, nor doesn't anyone else I've called.
(I could have had the display unit if I wanted, also…)

  • It's back in stock but they've increased the price to $287. Coupon code is no longer valid either.

  • Anywhere else better than $287? Been checking amazon and eBay but $287 is the best with stock on hand.

  • Just received an email stating that the product has been shipped. Honestly, I was a little worried before.

    • What time did you buy? I bought it about 3pm and no email just yet.

      • Bought it at 3pm on Thursday.

  • Woot that's still saving over $30 pretty much elsewhere!!! Free Shipping? I live in Adelaide and want to know if Bing Lee provides insurance too?

  • Ownage just called JB and they will price match the $287 thanks for the tip itsross WOOT!! F U BECEXTECH AND F U EB GAMES lol!

Just had to battle to the death to get BING LEE BLACKTOWN to price match their own website. Bunch of pure delete expletives, including the manager. I hope they are the next to go Bankrupt.

  • it is out of stock again.

  • +1

Blacktown Bing Lee has it in stock just picked it up for $287 no questions asked.

    • Glad you had better luck than me ;)

  • I picked up one from JB Macquarie shopping centre. Had to bargain couple minutes for price match. Office works monavale has them and at least they do price match plus 5% less, but too far drive for me

  • Just received my tablet today delivered by Fastway Couriers. Damn that was quick.

  • Back to $319 on their site now and in stock.
