    Well that's annoying.

    • Why?

      • +37

Probably because its the same price as the previous deal from a couple days ago, but comes with a heatsink this time around

        • This

        • +3

I paid about $250 for the 1TB a year ago or so, nice to see the drives coming down so much.

        • yep, I paid 225 or 230 to have the heatsink. Man this thing is fast compared to the techfast one I got with the original build.

    • +1

Wasn't that long ago I paid this for a 1tb.

      • This or 990 Pro 2Tb @ $217? Is that worth $50 xtra bux?

    • Any noticeable issue running without heatsink, please?

      • Do you copy and paste or download files or edit videos days and nights, nights and days, days and nights?

      • its recommended if your motherboard doesn't have a heatsink or thermal pads to get one with a heatsink, otherwise he'll just run a little toasty

  • +19

I held off for so loooong, no more uninstalling and reinstalling games. Thanks OP

  • -7

Repeat deal from over a week ago at exact same price. So this is your second chance to get it if you missed it.

    • +12

this one has a heatsink, the previous one didn't

      • +3

Oh yeah i didn't pick up on that. Makes this an even better deal.

    • +3

That one didn't have the heatsink, this one does so it's not the same product, so this deal is actually better than that one.

  • This vs Silicon Power XS70?

    • +1

      Samsung better.

    • XS70 2TB has component swap. You get InnoGrit with YMTC NAND combo now, not Phison E18. While the speed is still good, the YMTC NAND is previous gen (not the latest gen).

    • Western Digital :p

  • Will this still fit just fine in NVME enclosures?

    • Hope so, as is OzB, I bought 1 to use in an enclosure, does it fit?

    • Looks like you can remove the heatsink if it didn't fit

  • +1

Thanks OP! Got one for PS5!

  • Dumb question - what is the best (easiest) way to transfer the files from my current 1TB that in my PS5 to this one if I was to get it?

    • +1

transfer what you can to built-in storage and transfer to new SSD after… or this but using an external USB drive (i think you can transfer to USB storage but not play off it for ps5 content, ps4 content can be played off usb also)

      • Ok, cool - thanks

    • +1

Adding on to other poster, you can also transfer to USB storage as noted, then back to the new SSD, but it's painfully slow.

      • +4

Sure is! I'd personally free up as much space as possible on the internal and transfer the biggest games I have installed and just redownload the smaller stuff.

        • +1

          This is the way.

(Source: Installed my 2TB 980 about 90 mins ago from the last deal.)

  • Good price but if your motherboard already has a heatsink shield on the m2 slots (most newer boards do), then the non heatsink version I assume is better to avoid any fitment issues. Otherwise buy this and you'll need to take off the heatsink anyway.

    • +4

You could just not re-install the motherboard heat sink. That’s what I did in my build for one of my SSDs that came with a heat sink.

      • I did the same thing but because I didn't know this is how it is. I would have bought the non heatsink version of I knew it wouldn't fit under the mobo heatsink.

      • Id prefer the motherboard heatsink. Looks cleaner and its larger

        • Fair enough. I have no window on my case plus it sits on the floor out of sight anyway.

  • +11

hard to not pull the trigger…really want to wait for a 4TB deal 🙃

  • This will add extra storage to ps5? Like existing 1TB + 2TB ?

  • +1

    Thanks O.P. Finally copped one.

  • I'm glad i waited for the one with a heat sink. :) Got one thanks OP

  • does anyone have a website link to the screwdriver that can open the PS5 SSD expansion slot?

    • +3

You're after a #1 Phillips screwdriver. They are commonly available. I have one in my iFixit toolkit.

  • Thank you, cancelled the 500GB order today as its too small, then this came out woohoo. Might actually start using the PS5 again.

  • -1

Is this the best deal ever? 3Camel is useless for some reason

    • +6

      I don't think 3Camel has prime.

      • -1

        Yep

    • If its on 3C its probably also on Ozbargain. Just click the related items and it will tell you it is by quite a margin.

      • I can see it's way cheaper than any recent deals but there is no way to search by price like slickdeal so sometimes I miss deals. So is the cheapest ever?

  • +1

And them price keeps dropping. Nice.

Good thing Im on a laptop so that heatsink is useless to me. A breath of relief for me buying the last heatsinkless deal lol but im sure price will only fall further soon.

  • +3

    this or SK Hynix Platinum P41 2TB $177.99 ?

    • -3

      The Samsung one for sure.

    • P41 is better

      • Why did they neg you? Lol

        • no idea…

    • +1

P41 is absolutely better, check the tweaktown review. 50% more read IOPS for instance. Samsung may have better warranty support I guess. Would still go with the P41. The P41 trades blows with the 990 pro and beats the 980 pro in almost every test.

    • where is it selling for 178?

  • Got one after signing up for Prime and doing the TopCashBack $10 activation thingy. Will upgrade my PS5 storage and will not have to sacrifice installed games to make space.

  • +1

wow, amazing price. bought one from ninja.buy on ebay at 22% off for $246 only 2 months ago.

edit: 870 EVO 4TB SSD is $284.03 as well!

  • How would I go about using this with a M1 Mac? My concern is that the heatsink would prevent me from using an enclosure

    • +1

Pretty sure the heat sink can be removed.

  • Thanks OP, since it won't void my warranty

  • Finally! Thanks OP!

  • Thank god my ps5 will have enough storage.

  • Damn, Cancelled my order for 1TB SK Hynix Platinum. Copped this one with $10 Topcash back offer.

    • The order is from Amazon US via AU .. it may not get approved for $10 cashback

      • +1

It's Amazon US via AU not Amazon US. So it should work.

  • +2

Obligatory comment on this to remind everyone that Samsung AU won't honor any warranty on this (in case you need to make a warranty claim) as it is not sold directly by an AU based re/e-tailer.

    • Amazon.com.au will honor the 5 years warranty.. I guess they dont have to deal with it much so they dont make a fuss about it.. with a low failure rate

    • +8

Yes, but Amazon will be easier to deal with for warranty regardless.

      • That's for sure. Samsung Australia is not great in my experience.

  • +4

just received mine from no heatsink deal. has latest firmware installed, arrived packed in simple paper envelope. come on Amazon you pack tissues like they are made of porcelain, but PC components get a backhand treatment

    • +1

Fortunately the samsung packaging is very good and amazon are generally gentle it seems as mine arrived with the samsung box in great condition.

      • same, ordering a book along with it might have been a great idea

    • How do you check firmware? Do I need a pc?

      • yes, in Samsung Magician. apparently it doesn't see details if the drive is in external enclosure, I had to install the damn thing into local nvme slot to check for firmware updates

but maybe something like hwinfo will see firmware version just in external enclosure

    • i once had a vinyl order left flat under the front doormat :(

    • Hey mate, mind me asking what production date yours was? Just got mine from this deal with a production date of 11/05/2023 and looking to save myself from having to pull apart my pc to check using samsung magician

  • +1

Do i need the heatsink to install onto the ps5 into the spare m.2 slot?

  • Mine from the last deal (without heatsink) just arrived today. Doh!

    • +1

Amazon allows you to return unopened products for a full refund in a certain time frame, usually 1 month.

      • +1

If hes anything like me then it's not only opened, it's installed already haha

    • Heatsinks only worth about $10 anyway, not sure you're missing much..

      • True but the Samsung heatsink looks fancier (which you will not be able to see once installed) and you don’t need to spend time (albeit a few minutes) to install a third party heatsink.

People also might have a perception of the included original heatsink may run cooler than $10 ones but it may not necessarily be the case.

    • I’ve received mine today too. Thinking about returning but don’t really want to drop it off to dodgy parcelpoint.

      • I think amazon US returns are $16 as opposed to the usual $7 ($8?) so not very economical

        • If I picked ‘Item does not meet expectation’ when I initiate the return, it offers free return. I don’t trust those Parcelpoint drop off points and if I send it myself then the maximum Amazon will reimburse per order return is $24.

          • @FrugalNotStingy: Good to know. Btw was the Auspost return label not an option?

            • @povogamer: It’s sending back to Amazon US so there is no Auspost return option. I wish there was.

          • @FrugalNotStingy: Why don't you trust Parcelpoint? What's your story?

            • +1

@tianyujojo: My local drop off point is either cigarette shop or chemists with grumpy employees. I also didn’t like the fact that they don’t give out a receipt upon receiving the return.

              • @FrugalNotStingy: You're lucky you even have one. No parcelpoints within 3000km here, so Amazon returns are always a sh*tfest!

                • @linnaen: I heard that some post offices might accept parcelpoint drop offs. It depends…
