Google Pixel 7 Pro 128GB $0 Upfront with New Optus $69/Month 24-Month SIM Plan (Min Cost $1656) @ Harvey Norman

121

Recieved this email from Harvey Norman earlier today stating $1098 handset credit ($0 upftont) on Pixel 7 Pro 128gb with $69p/m plan (100gb p/m with optus) for 24months.

Min cost is $1656, so considering phone sale price is ~$1000 normally it seems reasonable (though ~$650 for 2y service is still to much IMO as I don't use much data, but may not be much to others) . Critical information summary available from below link indicates you can pay ETC up to $828 to cancel plan (and keep phone, however buyer should do this at their own risk)

  • Does not compute

  • 2 years with Optus and a phone that is about to be superseded, not sure on this one.

Although I expect you would get two years of Optus sport included so if you are a Premier League fan then that could be worth it.

    • +1

no you pay extra for sport now

Oh, in that case then it's a solid pass to Gerry.

The deal is in the cancellation. That's $828 for a Google Pixel 7 Pro. Maybe $890 if you have to pay a month. That's sharper than anything else I'm seeing.

Have done this previously on $49 plan for an S22.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Too late, they're already offended and gone.

Everyone expect free stuff, there is no free lunch in 2023 for Mobile and phone plans especially when it is a a flagship….

The pain is worth about $35-40, just for argument sake we use $35. So you get the phone for $816 with 24 month interest free credit. I don't think even Optus themselves can offer a deal like this except when they were doing a Google sale back in April.

I think its a good deal when someone already paying $30-40 for phone plan already. Of course not for those who buy a $100 junk phone and buy the lowest year plan possible. Not discriminating just different way of using the phone.

    • Got a free Galaxy Watch 5 with my S23+ from that Jb deal so not sure what youre talking about.

      • The watch realistically worth about $300 and during May trade in deal you can have S23 ultra for $1073 plus free Bud2. So that JB deal is not really a deal at all. Everything is priced in. Hence I said there is no free lunch.

It was a good entry point if you don't have a device to trade and want a watch. I got S23 256 plus Samsung care for $700 ish plus free Bud2. That is a better deal imo as I don't have to sell the watch and cancel the contract.

  • I'm not convinced the maximum plan cancellation fee would be the only exit fee - "Does not include additional device payments (if applicable)" - does anyone know how/where to check this?

    • I did this at launch and only paid out 828 and 790something for two phones for some reason I was charged slightly less for one of them. But you should read this contract because it might have changed.

      • I also did this a few months back on the same plan to get my S23 for ~828 ETC with no extra cost for device.

Id say thats a generic statement when the device is provided by optus as part of the plan but in this case its a BYO plan with the device purchased through harvey norman (using the gift card / credit they give you for signing up to the plan)

But agree it possible that things can change so ive updated post to state that buyer can do this at their own risk

  • Trying to decide between this Pixel 7 Pro or the S23+. Heard there are issues with the battery overheating on the Pixel 7 Pro ? Which do you guys think is a more stable phone overall ?

    • Have the S23+ and is a far superior phone compared to the Pixel 7 Pro. Abysmal battery life, software bugs, overheating issues steered me off, plus the curved screen. Although Pixel 7 Pro camera is fantastic.
