Early termination on Optus plan is $588? Including the device?

    • +2

      Yep

      • +32

So it's a $588 S22, and you get to screw Optus and HN in the process.

        I feel like there's a catch.

        • +141

yes there is, you have to come into a HN store.

          • +5

@farque: Wait so theoretically, you can get this , then cancel after 1 month and only pay $588? Surely that can't be right as you could sell the s22 for a lot more?

            • @Bargainman69: correct…. plus your 1 month of usage.

            • +1

@Bargainman69: I have done this before a couple years ago, got a s20 fe 5g on launch for about 600. Just wondering if doing this would effect my credit score?

              • @Jacobm: Do we know how much impact on credit score?

                • +19

@vikaskamboj: Or if you use Optus you'll have no credit score. As scammers will be doing the scoring for you

              • +7

@Jacobm: If you used Optus your credit score is screwed anyway

        • +40

          Optus gets your details heh

        • -2

The catch is that it's a very small phone.

        • Yes your personal details which is worth a lot more is now with optus.

      • +1

So this is only a 4G plan? Isn't s22 capable of 5G? I am interested otherwise. Can it be upgraded to 5G?

        • I can confirm that I am connected to 5G network with this plan with VoLTE.

      • Is this deal for 5G or only 4G for 24 mths?

        • The t&c says 4g for the $49 p/m plan, however people who got the deal said they are able to use 5g.

  • +48

    FlOptus and Hardly Normal

    The iconic duo

  • +2

Is all my personal data being uploaded by hackers part of the deal?

    • +73

      technically, downloaded…..

      • Tru dat!

      • new customers only or?

        • +2

    • +2

Customer: Did you just store my personal details that can be used to steal my identity, along with 10+ million other users that can be accessed by an api that doesn't require any login credentials?

      Optus: "yes"

      • however, your credentials are safe!
        ;-)
        What a joke!

  • +11

do you also get 60 months interest free :)

    • +1

  • +9

  • +2

If it was the flip 4 I might be tempted

    • +2

Flip 4 is $0 on the $69 sim deal (ends 10/10)

      • what's the early termination pls?

        • +1

          $828 for the 69

          • @farque: For early termination do we have to return the device too?

            • @mhc: Nope as these are classed as sim only plans.

              • +1

@farque: Which means pretty much I can get zflip 4 for $828+$69. and cancel the plan after a month.

                • @mhc: Sure can.

          • -5

            @farque: $828 for 69? Local place only charges $300

      • +1

        What's it for Fold 4?

      • What about fold 4? Any deal?

    • +1

      Now its

      $49 plan x 24 month

$1000 off any S21 FE, S22 or Z series' advertised price.

      Same T, C' and ETC's apply

Again cant post as I'm associated so someone may want to make their own thread…

      • anyone able to confirm final bill on new offer? is it same or less due to the $1000 off?

        • ETC is the same check anon post.

      • Would it stack with each other? If I got 2 new services, can I use both $1k vouchers on a z fold?

It is like buying $1,000 gift card for $588 except gift card can only be used on S21 FE, S22 or Z series

        • Unfortunately not, 1 plan per device so to speak.

  • +14

Any deal on S22 ultra 256gb?

    • +2

Using one right now and the phone is a beast even on battery protect.

      • +2

Looking to upgrade from my note9. I think ultra s22 is a worthy upgrade.

        • Would be a worthy upgrade.

  • +11

Lol. If only it wasn't HN and Optus..

    • +2

Gerry harvey + your data. that's a loss.

    • +2

If it wasn't HN and Optus it wouldn't be this price, they both seem desperate

  • +1

Optus… "now buying your privacy with a free phone"

  • +14

An Optus contract through Harvey Norman? Could there be any of a less compelling offer?

    • +1

      Name the most iconic duo.

  • +6

    Harvey Norman + Optus

    What can possibly go wrong?

    • +7

      money loss & data loss.

  • Exynos or Snapdragon chip?

    • +1

Snappy for the S22s in Oz.

    • sd gen1

      • +1

        sd gen 1 is bad
        sd gen 1+ is good

Performance per watt on sd gen 1 is rubbish due to samsung fabrication, 865 actually outperforms 888 and 8 gen 1 regarding performance per watt.

  • Wondering if they're (Optus and/or Samsung) trying to grab customers and move devices due to the impending Pixel launch.

  • +7

How to cancel the service and just pay Termination fee?

    • The real question

    • +3

Get a $2 sim port out within 3weeks

  • +1

    Can you terminate straight away?

    • +3

Yes, but I would wait at least a day for the system to kick in?

  • +2

    Any deal on plus version

  • No international call inclusion if u need it

    • Can add for $10

      • Any option for 12 months plan?

        • +1

          cancel it after 12 mths = $294

  • +53

Best thing about signing up for Optus, you don't have to provide your ID to any other company in the future, you can tell them to just google it!

    • Holy!

  • +1

Optus even sent me a msg saying only my licence number is compromised and not the card number. So they not gonna pay for my new drivers licence.

    • +1

Contact your local MP and maybe the law firm setting up for a class action

    • Do you get a new license number after you change it?

    • Isn't licence number all that matters?

      • In most cases yes, but if a copy of the card is required then the picture, license number and card number are needed so if they are somewhat diligent they'll check make sure card number and license numbers match…. Big If.

No matter how you cut it… Worst breach I've ever seen…

  • Can I add another mobile with this plan? Like take this plan and device and add an iPhone 14 pro? So the two devives on a single plan?

    • Negative.

  • Is the battery on this phone as bad as they say?

  • +2

Optus must have so many spare S22. 1. nobody is joining optus now. 2. Not many people getting S22 thinking if I am spending 1000 bucks, might as well spend a bit more and get S22+ or Ultra.
