Despite the replies it all seems too good to be true, $588 early termination, keeping the s22…
If anyone tries this please let me know.

I'll be tempted to do it if it works.

Recommend calling your local and have one aside….

      • +1

Guy I spoke to was good, I'll have to go in tomorrow and guarantee it! Thanks for the consistent responses farque

    • Because the handset is $0, and essentially you are paying out the sim plan early termination charges, $49 x 12 months = $588.00, correct me if I am wrong.

      • Correct.

      • It's 24 month plan right ? It will be 49*24??

          • @farque: Thanks mate … is this the updated one?

              • @farque: Thanks again Farque, one more question mate sorry … these phone comes with Exynos or Snapdragon?

                • @MSD7: AU stock so SD1

              • +2

@farque: In case there is anyone out there intending to stay on the plan and not cancel it…..this document says the plan is eligible for 4G Plus only and not 5G if that matters

                • @summit: Thanks for telling us! New antennas gone up in out town but the IQ of their sales staff is rather close to negative.

        • +1

If you read the T&Cs, CIS, its calculated half term of 24 months, which is 12 x $ whatever the sim plan you on the monthly repayment.

          • +1

@cloudie9: Wait… wouldn't you be liable for the first month as soon as you sign up? That would mean $49 for the first month plus $49 x 11.5 months (half of the 23 months remaining). The min cost would then be $612.5?

  • Can you switch from postpaid to prepaid daily then back to this postpaid

    • can get messy

  • Are there any iPhone deals at the same plan?

  • +2

Do customers need to repay the gift card amount if they cancel the Harvey Norman SIM plan within the 24 month term, including for coverage claims?
No, they will not have to repay the gift card amount. Standard plan cancellation fees apply.

    Above from Optus Page

Damn, if it is an S22 for $588 that's pretty good.

  • so I assume the phone is not locked to Optus?

    • +1

Maybe bloated with the face who calls him self: King of GST on all imports!

  • +8

    Ahhh..

The two must trusted brands, Optus and Harvey Norman

    • +6

Kogan is upset you didn't rate him higher.

      • +1

Haha !! Good ‘ol Kogan, pissing people off since 2006

  • +1

Hey farque, any deals on plans for the fold 4?

    • +1

      Not this time round.

Just the generic $69 w $700 gift card

and this $49 (without s22) is $450 gift card from tomorrow

  • Theres goong to be some axing deals on optus so i would hold

  • @farque I assume the HN gift cards don't apply to this deal?

    • Yeah one or the other.

      $69 = $700
      $49 = $450

      • This all sounds wayyyyy to good to be true if termination goes to plan.

This is literally highway robbery lol

        • yeah we are expecting to be pretty busy tomorrow. Just prepping the store now.

        • ahhh miss read, one or the other.

  • seem like a good deal if you can sell the phone at high price?

  • +1

Just in case you guys are looking for this..
    https://hndgwww2.azureedge.net/gpa/hnau/optus/20220221/CIS-4…

    • +1

seems $49 plan has no 5G

  • So I assume you are dropping prices on the s22 to $450 then using the gift card to pay for it?

What's in it for HN? Selling phones at a loss?

    • +16

Phone will still be $1048 till 19th…

I dunno i'm just helping Ozbers with deals…

    • JB/Telstra did this until late 2020.

  • Already a farmed Optus customer so have nothing else to lose.
Thinking it might be worth porting to a $2 Telstra sim then signing up tomorrow.

    • Call ahead to your store…. there'll be enough stock for the few days maybe this weekend, depending on the store - then next delivery will be next weekish.

      • Have a few in stock at chosen store. Have ported to a $2 Telstra sim so good to go first thing.

        • How did you go with this? At jb port in mist be 30 days away from carrier to port back in for deal.

          • +1

@Zombietoucan: No issues at all, ported in and out of Telstra prepaid in just over 12 hours!

  • So the Optus $0 upfront deal is only at stores listed above, and not any others, nationwide? Why :'(
The device is as you said on the website for $1048 on sale.

    • Its the 24mth sim deal - exclusive to HN Domayne and JM

    • Oh never mind im an idiot, I thought Domayne and JoyceMayne were subtubs, not other retailers. Derp

  • Do they do credit check? I already have data sim with optus.

    • they will yes

      • I took out a credit card legit 2 days ago. I now have multiple CCs and already have mine and my wife's phone plans in my name. Have you ever heard of someone getting rejected for a phone plan?
My credit history is perfect, never missed a payment or anything.

        • Should be ok as Optus are only approving you for a sim only. Harvey's is pitching in the rest of the money at a loss…

  • +1

Obviously both companies suck, but this a massive deal.

  • +1

is there a similar deal for the s22+ or ultra?

    • No unfortunately…

      • cheers for the update!

  • +6

Why are people worrying about porting out. Just set up a new service and cancel it or port to a $2 sim

  • +5

Do you have list of phones available with the $49 and $69 plans?

    Went through comments:

    • $49 (Termination fee $588)
      S22 128gb

    • $69 (Termination fee $828)
      Flip4

    • they are the only ones worth mentioning tbh

      • No i13mini?

        • Will rarely do sim deals on apple

      • hi mate, is it 128gb or 256gb version of flip4 that is available on $69 plan?

        • +2

          $0 upfront = 128gb
          $100 = 256gb

    • +1

one to add to the above….

(and may need its own thread?)

      Starting 17/10 - 31/10
$69 plan (same terms as flip 4)
      = Pixel 7 Pro 128GB
      + $150 HN Gift Card

  • Great deal.

Just wondering whether I can receive SMS if I activated the international roaming.

  • Is the Flip 4 plan good? Basically $900 for the Flip 4.

  • Is the phone sold outright by HN and then the plan is $49 sim only. Or is it technically attached to the plan and sold by optus as a sim + phone? Thanks

    • Basically yes, sold outright and connected to the $49 24mth sim only.

      • Just to confirm, does this mean that people getting the S22 and staying on the plan will be stuck on 4g as above posters have suggested? Cheers

      • How does HN recoup their money on the phone? Is phone paid by Optus directly to HN?

        • +4

          Sorcery.

        • To show the loss + the government rebates are always there to take advantage of.

          • @dan0909: Understand. But just cautious of the repercussions if any on credit history or any such records.

  • -1

    Any Pixel deals?

  • This include any international calls?
    Discount for Optus sport?

  • Maybe a weird question, but does anyone have a suggested launcher that makes the s22 (or any android really) feel as much like an iPhone as possible (basically an iOS launcher I guess) that they can recommend? I'm desperately trying to get the missus away from an iPhone to something like this (I have an s21) and she just struggles to operate my phone after having iPhones for so long….

    • +2

      Keep her on iPhone

    • -2

Iphone does have the most unintuitive ui in the world

    • +7

Maybe much easier to change her

  • Anyone know if this subscription can data share with a data only sim?

    • +2

Based on previous Optus experience I think you'll find it shares data very easily…

  • Too soon to be buying from Optus

  • +2

Wow hardly normal and floptus teaming up. It's a sign…

  • -1

So get the mobile signing up using drivers license and then claim that my details have been hacked and I never actually got the phone. Free phone + kick in the butt for optus 😜

    • Did this actually work for you?

  • Its a shame that no domayne store in SA. I wouldve tried even it was hardly normal floptus combo.

    • Can't you just go to a Harvey Norman? It's the same owners.

      • You can, yes

      • I thought it was only for harvey norman@domayne store. Thanks a lot!

  • Is there anyway to do this and then port back to boost and keep my 8 months to go there?
