    300-30?

    • +1

Are you referring to (a) how I came to $245 or (b) where the spend $300 get $30 off is from?

      a) 2 x $100 Ultimate Gift Cards from Coles + 15% bonus offer = $230. $300 - $30 = $270 - $30 bonus from gift card = $240 cost.

      b) The spend $300 get $30 off offer is from the JB Hi-Fi perks program (free to sign up to and you should get an email with a code for it (They also give you a $10 voucher when you sign up)).

Not the deal itself but the spec on this phone is a bit disappointing, especially on the video shooting department.
My 2020 motorola mid range (one action) can shoot 4k on its main camera.

    • +2

I am not fond of 4k because it fills up the storage so fast. I can't see a difference on the screen anyways.

      • 100%. Im quite happy to shoot in HQ 480p with OIS.

  • +2

I have one of these, it's nice and light, compact size ( by today's standards)
But I find it often hangs and I have to wait a few seconds for everything to catch up.

    • Hmm i have the normal edge 30 and it does the same thing, but would also just randomly decide to restart as well.

      • +11

Found that with mine when I first got it, it auto updates at like 1am and hits you with the "HELLO MOTO."

        • +1

          LMAO!

          • +1

@Naigrabzo: Im suffering PTSD just hearing about it from other people.

            • +1

@xoom: Maybe turn on DND. I have it on a timer anyways to prevent whatsapp spam etc…

              • +1

@Naigrabzo: Do not auto update, don't put on charge with wifi on.

        • +1

yep. learnt my lesson after that and its on mute now. would love to know how to kill that boot animation

          • +5

@Neilzy: If it's anything like my current Motorola, go into sound and vibration and turn off "power on sounds".
1st thing I turned off on mine ;)

@raydragon: Legend! thanks! Everyone who buys a moto/lenovo phone needs to know this haha

        • +3

Haha that's gotta be a joke concocted by some sneaky bugger in the engineering dept.

        • +1

          I feel your pain.

        • Good. Better than waking ppl up and calling Hello MOFO!

  • +2

    128GB with no SD card?
That wouldn't even hold my iPod library in 2008, let alone the new additions of well beyond a decade more!

    • Deh cloud is deh way to go!

      • +2

I'm an OzBargainer, until plans include 'unlimited data' along with the unlimited calls and txts, that's a very money-poor decision. I'd blow past my $9-6GB plan quickly, which I never do remote administering my server, surfing the net and sending messages (because my media is local :D)

  • -3

Hmmmmm this phone or spend a little more for this one https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/motorola-edge-30-pro-5g-1…

Anyone can say this or the previous deal

    Motorola g62 5G 128GB for $249?

    • This got double the ram for $49 more.. get dis

  • I would like to use this phone as a 5G modem.
Is it the cheapest 5G phone in the market around $240 (after all discount)?
Is there any Ozbargainer trying to use a mobile phone as a modem?
Does it work? I need to turn it on at least 8 hours per day.

The Edge 30 series are great phones.

The only criticism I have of their modifications to the stock android experience is that they have removed the Always On Display feature and replaced it with "Motorola Peek Display" which effectively only wakes the display when a notification comes in or you tap the phone. I miss just having the clock/notifications always shown on my previous Always On Display phones.

As far as I understand, AOD is fine for OLED displays such as what are used in the Motorola Edge 30 lineup, so it bugs me that they forced this "feature".

  • +7

One you go chop chop and twist twist, it's hard to go back.

    • +5

I said this before and i will say this again. Features like this should be baked into android os.

    • +3

I find I do this on my pixel 7p and realize that this isn't my g32.

These should be baked into Android.

  • Thanks @Wadumean Great first post. Bought for a family member yesterday who wanted a smaller phone

    • You didn't love them enough to get the Edge 30 Pro instead?

      • Unfortunately the Edge 30 Pro is too big for them. Neo is the smallest moto currently

  • @Wadumean & others , i have bought the ultimate gift card, applied the perks code. Now, when i am checking out : where to apply the ultimate gift card ?

It doesnt accept the gift card number and pin of ULTIMATE GIFT FOR HIM as it says gift card number must be 18 digits and pin must be 4

Sorry, i dont have the experience of using it before

      1. Get Ultimate Gift Card
      2. Buy JB Hi Fi Gift card online, using the ultimate gift card, and entering the gift card into the card payment (not the gift card payment method). Find the expiry date by checking balance here: https://myprepaidcentre.com.au/home (can only exchange 2 ultimate gift cards to jbhifi gift cards a day).
      3. Once you have got your JB Hi Fi Egift card that is sent to your email, you then go back to jbhifi, and enter in the gift cards into the gift card payment method, along with the coupon code for the 300/30 offer.

Hope that helps, lmk if you have other questions.

      • So, i have two $100 cards ( ultimate gift card ) .

I buy jb gift card here on the link below? If yew , what value ? 100 or 200 ?
        https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/gift-card-digital-500

If i am buying two gift cards of jb $100 each , then i can use both of them to buy this phone ?

        • So if you took advantage of the Coles gift card offer, you should have $115 on each gift card, you want to buy 1 x JB Hi Fi E gift card for $115 (nominate your own value), click delivery by email, and then add to cart, go through check out and when you get to payment area, enter the card details into the card payment area (find expiry by checking balance on link sent earlier, and then name for card is just your name). Then you repeat that process for the 2nd gift card. And then you will get emailed, the JB Hi Fi gift cards, you can use multiple of these to pay something online, you just enter them into the gift card payment area, like you were trying to do initially. You also enter the promo code you have. You will have a little bit to pay out of pocket. You also need to add something else to your cart to make the total transaction over $300 (I just got this https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/cygnett-60ml-screen-clean… for $10).

So the value of the JBHIFI gift card your buying is the value of the ultimate gift card your using. Ultimate gift card = $100, then jbhifi e gift card you select $100 value.

You do one transaction for one gift card, and then do another transaction for the other one.

          • @Wadumean: Thank you, but i am still doing something wrong as my order of 115 is getting failed

Unfortunately, your recent order of $115.00 has failed our verification process and been cancelled.
We have not processed any payment
However please note that a pre-authorisation may still appear in your account as a pending transaction which is usually released by your bank within 1 - 3 business days.
            Why has this happened?
Our verification process is crucial in protecting your online purchases with us. The verification of online orders is a necessary measure for the type of goods you have ordered due to the frequency at which illegal transactions are made by unauthorised persons, who are not the original cardholder.
. incorrect name, email address, address details or use of characters/symbols in the name fields
. you purchased from overseas (some products can only be purchases from Australia or New Zealand)
. the country your credit card was issued from
. you used a VPN or proxy IP during checkout

            • @nino3434: Whats the name of the card do you enter ?
Is it getting failed due to that ?

              I have continued as guest

            • @nino3434: You must have been flagged due to the numerous failed attempts or something, try again tomorrow, you can also go in to JB HiFi and use multiple of the ultimate gift cards.

              • @Wadumean: Oh no

I cant use the perks discount code in store, i assume. Or is there any way

                • @nino3434: You might be able to use it in store, check the ozbargain post about it. You can also wait until tomorrow to see if it lets you order the e gift cards, make sure you do it right though so that you dont get flagged again.

                  • @Wadumean: It worked today and jb hifi verification team had to fix it for me , thanks for the help mate.

                • @nino3434: You can, it says it at the bottom of the email.
I got this deal and used the code in store.

  • Can I use the 68w charger included in the box to charge my laptop?
Just wondering because some brand like Asus ROG charger does not allow to do so I believe.

  • Fantastic Phone! First time I've found myself using the brand specific features. Android 12 really sells it.

    • I've found myself using the brand specific features.

If only they would bake that into android os. Its just so damn handy.

  • Bought one in Very Peri to replace my 3G 1st gen Moto G (XT1033) which is still working like a charm (on its original battery).

Received and installed the Android 13 update with no probs whatsoever.

    • How you got the Android 13 update, Over The Air? I haven't got mine on Boost

      • +1

Bought 2 Neos in Peri and Black, and both haven't received Android 13 yet (Telstra and Optus)
