You didn't do a very good job of it

    • +1

Haha yeah nah you’re wrong tbh

    • I can see three colours in medium in stock

    • +2

      Nope

I can confirm OP is correct. It’s sold and delivered by Kathmandu themselves

      • This is what I see for blue medium same as per your image

        https://ibb.co/6Rjbb3t

Not showing me as sold and delivered by Kathmandu when I click other options.

        https://ibb.co/Htygq7Z

This is for all colour and size combos.

        Odd

Edit: app and Android browser showing none in stock when logged in, but incognito on Android not logged in showing stock. Never encountered that before. Strange.

Is this better than ozb's favourite macpac halo down? Certainly cheaper

    • +9

From the specs for size M.
      MACPAC HALO vs. KATHMANDU HELI
      Loft: same 600
      Fill weight: 205g/m2 vs 108g/m2
      Fill: same 80/20 Duck Down
      Weight: 530g vs 372g

Halo should be "twice" as warm as Heli?

      • Yup

      • How about gazman vs macpac

        • +5

I'm not the expert. You can google yourself and compare their specs. Each brand has a lot of models and each model has its own specs.

      • Yes*, but it is also about twice the weight and twice the bulk.
MacPac Uber is the equivalent to the Heli.

*But there are other factors, such as baffle design, windproofing, fit, shell material, etc. I think the Halo has nylon outer which would be typically more durable than polyester (Uber has polyester, iirc).

It would be true OzBargain in orange!

    • +1

Macpac Halo also uses responsibly sourced down like this jacket, so there's that!

    • Nope, this is equivalent to Macpac Uber Light.

The aldi one is even cheaper at $50? I got one the other day and rate it.

      https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-8-j…

      • Hey, what size and can you tell me how much it weighs?

        • Aldi one weighs 600g (Large). Comparable to the MacPac Halo.

      • Thanks dude. Got one after your comment. Its pretty good.

      • Thanks - got the Aldi one ,

    • Its no $199 jacket. Kathmandu are always overpriced on their RRP. Macpac are reasonable but also habe good specials.

  • unfortunately doesn't come in white

  • Never understood why they even make these colours if they just end up selling them for a quarter of the price

    • Still makes profit as it's likely many times more than it cost them to make

      • Still makes profit as it's likely many times more than it cost them to make

Also makes the product/brand more appealing if there's a range of colours rather than just one or two, which helps drive traffic to the store. This is Uniqlo's business model, and they are extremely successful.

    • wanting to look like you're about to scale everst is a genuine thing

dunno if its any better than looking like you're about to scale collins st or something though

RDS (responsible down standard) certified, so no force feeding or live plucking applied to the birds used for the down on this jacket 👍

  • At least we'll know who to look for at the latest OzBb catchup.

  • If I order the wrong size on Amazon, can I exchange it in store?

    • +1

Why waste time and deal with uncertainty.
Try the size instore and then buy from Amazon or wherever is cheaper.

      • I think the store is shut now. Will they still have my size in stock on Amazon if I wait? More uncertainty :(

        • Both have now sold out of the size I wanted.

  • This or Aldi down jacket?

    • The Aldi jacket has twice as much fill, and possibly higher fill power (if the Aldi website is to be believed about the latter (800 loft))

  • -3

Not ethical. Ducks were killed for this.

    • have you seen what ducks do to other ducks? No regrets.

Depends on whose ethics we're talking about.

I’m just dirty that I’ve already run out of single-use duck-bill-sized drinking straws…

Hope I don’t look as big a geek as the guy wearing it

  • Don't forget to only wash these with down soap

  • Recently i bought this jacket, good one.
