  • Probably wont last until the 25th :-) But it also has some great school holiday specials for April. Booked 3 trips :-)

Tiger will try to sting you anyway possible so some hints to keep the fare low are:

    1) Only select one/two people for standard checked in luggage ($10 per sector for 15 kilos) if flying as a family.
    2) Others take carry on
    3) Dont take what they call 'insurance' - it doesnt really cover much!?!?
    4) dont select your seats

If you do this they approximate to about $40 per sector max per ticket.

  • Their only direct flight from Canberra is to Melbourne? Oh well.

  • Wish they covered Newcastle or Sydney. I need to leave from either to Brisbane soon, trying to score a bargain. I'll find one as soon as I buy tickets at normal price I bet… Good bargain though for those in Melbourne/Adelaide.

  • Jetstar won't be too happy if you can manage to use their "double the difference" offer with any of these flights!

    • Just curious.. i found $14.95 Hob -> Syd on 24th December flying Tiger through Adioso - On Jetstar its $79 (departing time within 1 hr). So would that mean a $128 voucher for double the difference? Then again you'd have to pay $79 I think?

      • Just read through the Jetstar T&C and it seems its totally do-able. Maybe give their Call Centre a call and see if you can.

  • I got Melbourne to Gold Coast return for $57 !

    NOTE:
Tiger charge you a hidden fee, it's called a 'Convenience Fee' and it cost $5 per passenger sector.
So $10 extra in fees return per person, so my flight was $10 more than advertised.

Make sure you don't select your seat, and untick travel insurance as these have extra fees.

    • It isn't a hidden fee. It says on the front page that there is a $5 charge per person per sector for payment by credit card.

      • It is hidden in the way that is does not show up in your total when you book (just before the payment by credit card screen) its only after you have paid and received the confirmation email that you see the charge appear of $5 per person, per flight. ($10 return)

  • OK GUYS!. THose who want to take advantage of the Jetstar DOUBLE YOUR DIFFERENCE DEALS. Here are the flights to/from Melbourne which are eligible. (Jetstar and Tiger Airways flights departing within an hour of each other)

Melbourne to Hobart. Jetstar $69, Tiger $35.15. Voucher for $67.7!

Melbourne to Launcheston - Jetstar $59, Tiger $37. Voucher for $44!

Melbourne to Gold Coast - Jetstar $94, Tiger $38.37. Voucher for $111.26

Melbourne to Sunshine Coast - Jetstar $109, Tiger $43.86. Voucher for $130

That's the closest think you'll ever get to a 'free airfare' :)

*haven't factored in the $5 booking fee from Tiger.

  • But I think the problem with Jetstar's Double Your Difference Deal is that they will give you a credit voucher which you must use within a certain period. So if you don't travel often it may not be for you.

  • For Jet*
ADL - MEL …Avalon airport, double distances from Tullamarine airport, very inconvenience :(

  • Jetstar dont use Avalon for Adelaide flights, they now go to Tulla cause Tiger are challenging them.

I have booked a total of 15 sectors. I did the same with the $9.95 fares last time. I have saved SOOO much, and I would have paid at least 3times for anyway.

Will Jetstar respond guys?, Virgin never do so I wouldn't rely on them?

(Although they had some $19.95 fares to Canberra and Adelaide a few weeks back so you might have done cheaper a few weeks back…)

    Anyway, Happy Hunting!

    • You're well advanced organiser :)
Thanks for the head up, didn't know Jet use Tullamarine for SA-VIC.
Virgin is good, they are on time & customer service is much better.
Tiger is not reliable. Over the last 12 months they delay & change schedule 5/8 for me (wondering how many they do in a year?). Fly with them tomorrow… support to be @ 3pm but now change to 8pm :(

  • quackstar

adioso would be reporting wrong, Tiger do not fly to Sydney

    sorry :(

    • Oh yeah that $14.95 was actually Hob->Mel. my mistake.

But I really wish they did fly Hob->Syd!

Can't see that happening any time soon though. :(

  • Ok so Jetstar just released their counter-sale. Makes the 'Double the Difference' offer a bit obsolete now.

    Hurray for competition!

  • When was somebody able to successfully process a Tiger transation last? Looks like all the late-comers are congesting the website right now..

  • Is it possible to buy the ticket at the advertised price? What can we do to avoid $5 credit card surcharge?

  • Its actually a $10 surcharge per person, per return flight. There is no way of avoiding it unfortunately.

    • if no one gets the advertised price and everyone has to pay that surchage, isn't this a case of baiting? I can't think of any other reason for what prevents them from adding the surcharge into the ticket price.

  • TRAVEL PERIOD EXTENDED TO 2ND OCTOBER!
Thousands of new fresh available seats now available!

    • None from Sydney :-(
