Fascinating, Sony really wants to utilise the promo. So they decrease the brand new listing quantity and add it to the new never used listing

YMMV, you may receive a brand new box for the A80K

    • +16

majority time the boxes are not damage & it's as new, occasionally someone receives a fully smashed tv lol

      • +4

Probably to avoid being accused of false advertising

    • how is your experience so far with the A80K?

      • -2

I don’t have one, but many here do, someone will give you feedback

        • +1

thanks for replying, sorry I was asking to @BargainsGrabber

Hey mate, not too sure if my review may help. I mainly use the TV to watch Netflix and rarely game on it

The good - the picture colours are perfect. My sister has an LG but I feel the Sony has a nicer warmth and natural colours for the eyes

The bad - their OS is laggy when booting up. Takes a while to register your clicks on the remote

        • I don't notice any lag. I have it in "app only" mode, 8f that makes a difference.

      • My A80J has been awesome. As well as the impressive picture and sound, I love how well it integrates with my receiver (CEC and latest HDMI). Can turn on the receiver from the Sony quick access menu and control the volume all with the TV remote.

Android tv is so good for installing apps. Yes the UI is a little laggy at times but the screen is great and game mode reduces lag noticeably. I run mine with parsec from my PC for gaming and have ad free Kodi and smarttubenext

  • Sony is price matching plus 150 off when you buy a sound bar I think

How many cartons get damaged at Sony?

    • +1

Haha they probably need better boxes / logistics

    • How many are shipped by a courier on the proverbial s h i t l i s t?

    • -5

They employ 'special' people as part of their marketing strategy.

It was $3099 at JB during the sale a week ago.

  • wish it would’ve been max 1000aud discount instead of 300

  • Sorry but I am not seeing any A80K box damaged, only Seconds?

  • +1

damn regret bought 65 and didnt wait for 75" many cheap deals today :(

    • +1

Me too kemosabe. Upgraded from 50” plasma to 65” A80K Oled. It’s really not a big enough difference size wise. Should have got 75” but $$$

      • Well i cant afford oled but yes agree me from 55 to 65 even worst. Feel the same in size

  • +1

How do you always find these? And thanks for sharing!

I Just look on Sony eBay store from time to time

  • Beware
Got my a80j seconds last week, metal frame is dented, at both bottom corners and also dusty at the back.

The OLED Panel and speakers, system are working well. Should I return it?

    • +7

This deal is box damaged not seconds, I’d return it

    • +2

Was the box damaged as it says?

      • -1

The item was described as seconds; however, I did not expect the frame corners to be dented.

  • +2

I do wonder how often box damage equates to hidden internal damage.

  • I would hold off if i was you, more deals to come likely within 2 weeks

    • What's happening in 2 weeks?

      • rumour more tv's to hit the market and JB to make room, it's a rumour though, was in the store today

    • Jb would charge shipping and ebay is free, do you know who is easier to deal with if something goes wrong ? Sony ebay or jb ?

      • +1

        sony direct to be honest

  • thoughts on getting the 42in a90k for $1500 as a work/gaming monitor? i know the lg c2 is the most popular option and it has dropped down to 1k before but it seems like its sold out everywhere

should i pull the trigger now or wait for something like the lg c3 to go on sale

    • I am in the same position too. Looking at 42" either LG C3 or ASUS PG42UQ. LG 48GQ900 is tempting but the ppi is going to be too low.

Wanted one for ages and made a decision a few months ago that I'd by the 55a80 as soon as it goes below 1.5k, then yesterday decided that I need to cut all non essential expenses thanks to RBA.

    But now this…. :(

    • +6

      You’ve forgotten to block OZB

      • I know….

  • Has anyone heard about Edozer shop? Suspiciously cheap for Sony A80K 77" https://www.edozer.com.au/collections/tvs/products/sony-77-i…

  • +1

Best way, though unlikely, try & get Sony to price match it

  • wouldnt the a9g for an extra 80 dollars be a better buy?

  • +1

Samsung EDU said it wouldn't ship anything over 75" to my address yesterday so missed out on that deal. Ended up getting an 85K from this one, never had a Sony TV so i'm keen to see how they go! Thanks for posting @RogueWolf

    • +1

Unfortunately heap of cancellations, likely dbl bad luck for you, Samsung now Sony

      • +1

Yep just saw the refund on my order as well! Hopefully some more deals pop up :(

  • +4

I pulled the trigger on a the 55 a80k yesterday around lunch time. Just got an email 24hrs later that it's being refunded….
    Anyone else?

    • +2

      yup got refunded as well
      no reason why

    • +1

Same here for A80K 55' … what the heck?

    • +2

Same on the Sony 43" X75K

    • +1

55" A80k refunded as well. No reason. Just a faceless email from eBay and PayPal. Quite disappointing.

    • +2

Same here…really bad from Sony :(

    • +2

The A80k 55" was also refunded. eBays reason listed for the refund was "Other adjustment"…

    • +2

Yep friends also got cancelled 75” x80k, %*^#%! Cockroaches

    • Yes, I got my sony a80k55 refunded too, with no reason. But, there’s still stock (at a higher price) on eBay?! Dodgy.

    • This usually happens when they discontinue a product. It it's possible they don't have real time stock levels, so they oversold and then cancelled. Happened with the x75k deal as well, although Amazon still got stock back after the sale.

  • +1

X95K here…still awaiting shipping. Fingers crossed…though…if they don't ship…meh. Plenty of other deals I'm sure.

  • I ordered a 55" A80K at 9pm on the 26th and have but received a cancellation yet. Seems odd that people ordering the same TV earlier than me got cancellations 24 hours ago

    • Did you order the damaged box listing?
      My D/B order was cancelled

      • No mine was listed as new: never used

        • new: never used is box damaged;

brand new is the real "new" tv.

    • Weird, I placed mine order for a 55 A80K at 4:01 pm on the 26th… And got refund…

      • Yeah it's all very odd with Sony. Hopefully they either send it or refund asap

  • I think sony made a mistake with the discount code. REFU20 was probably meant for refurbished ones only. I still see refurbished a80k s listed with the code.

    • code still working on the other box damaged items remaining, probably just had no stock, poor form either way

  • Have anyone received the product already? Mine did not cancel by the system and has not yet posted as well.
    I ordered a Sony KD65X80K

    • I just got a posted notification now. Sony 55A80K

      • Received the TV, box was in perfect condition, as was TV.

  • This is available again, but for 1699. 200 more than the original deal
