  • Hey all, what’s warranty like with Sony refurb? I saw that it says 1 year, but anything longer under consumer law?

    • +11

With Sony you will be lucky to get anything even under warranty

      • +1

That's true, don't buy Sony if you're concerned about warranty

      • +1

        My experience is completely different.

I had the panel completely replaced in a TV outside of warranty because it was a known manufacturing defect. Two repairmen were sent to replace the panel.
A neighbour had exactly the same experience.

        • LG also repaired my TV outside of warranty. The issue was with network adapter, known issue.

Sony did not repair or replace my PS5 controller which was 1.5yo, they told me it's 1 year warranty only but then the law says it's 2 years. They did not offer any repair. There are YouTube videos to repair it. I bought a new one and kept the old one for parts.

Their cameras are also backed up with 2 years of warranty, shutter break problem doesn't exist in Australia. Which is a blessing.

      • Really? I bought some XM2s, they developed a ticking noise in NC mode after 9mo and they replaced them with XM3s - didn't even have to send the old XM2s back, I still have them in a cupboard somewhere!

    • +2

ACL applies to new and seconds (incl. refurbs).
But spending time and fighting for it is a different story.

  • Any discounted eBay GC at the moment?

this code brings the Surface Pro 5 to $248.82

not as amazing as the deal from May / June which brought it down to $199, but still a good deal. same seller - Australian Computer Traders.

    • Wonder if they'll also end up accidentally sending out Pro 6s in this deal this time around too.

    • +1

The one you linked comes with a keyboard, so good deal

      • it's worth noting the listing is unclear about which keyboard it comes with. I have emailed the store and asked if it comes with a generic USB keyboard or the Microsoft Type Cover keyboard. I'll update here once I've got a response.

        • +1

The one in the pic looks legit. Only 5 left so buy now, deal with it later. And free returns with Plus anyway

    • Has anyone tried updating to Wins 11 and what is the experience on the battery's health or getting hot so far?

      • i upgraded my surface pro 5 to windows 11. battery life is good and UI / UX is much better with w11 imo. no issues overheating. though, it did take a small amount of effort to find the right workaround to get w11 installed. I used this method. once installed it works perfectly and I receive ongoing updates no issues.

  • $303.42 for "Excellent" Samsung Galaxy A53.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175775921720

PSA: should be noted that the code works in some places that aren’t in the official search! (It shows on the page)

    • Worth updating from an S20? I'm a bit hesitant about it being just 4gb memory, will that make a difference?

Stranger, you might not even know 😔 but thanks everyone.

      • +1

Probably not as I was tossing up between an S20 and this, but given android is my second platform and it’s mainly for app testing; 4GB of ram didn’t make much difference and the newer phone should get longer updates

      • I'd say for everyday's tasks and web/social media browsing you should be good. Switching among too many apps will definitely pull it down though. With modern apps nowadays 6GB should be the minimum while 8GB has somewhat become the norms nowadays.

  • Search is not that good. Looking for an ipad with USB C port

  • Any ideas on gaming laptop that I can use this one?

  • How does one find stuff that this code will work on?

    • +1

Click through the link on the deal, has a page with all the eligible items posted

      • +1

Haha yes just had to click. Thank you!

Perfect timing, needed a phone for my son and held off during Prime

  • +2

Buyer beware on seconds or box damaged stuff from Sony. Absolute worst to deal with if (and there will be) there is a problem.

  • Is something like this good - Dell XPS 13 9360 i7 8550u 1.80Ghz 16GB RAM 512GB SSD 13.3" FHD Wifi Win 11

Keen to get a Dell XPS13 - the other deal is also on for a new laptop at $1,147 but if I'm going for just general netflix + word / excel processing?

    • +3

that generation of XPS were notorious for bugging out (USB issues, keyboard issues, coil whine) and dying. had to fight to get it serviced even when it was under warranty, would definitely not recommend anyone gamble on this.

I bought a iPhone 12 Pro 128GB for $690 recently with ~same deal, they advertise 80%+ battery health, mine arrived at 83% - was foolishly really hoping for more.

..so fair warning for anyone looking if it says 80 expect close to 80.

    • Trust Australia! So far so good here with eBay refurbs i got over the past years.

  • I'm gutted. Bought a refurbished iPhone 11 pro max yesterday from green gadgets

    • They have easy returns. But just wondering what made you choose 11 pro over the others newer ones?

      • +1

My dad was looking to get an xr for $360 and had a budget around $500 so I just said to get the 11 instead.
He's also a little old and dislikes the small screen so the 12 max was a bit out of his price range.
Was the 11 a bad choice?

        • +1

Nope! Good phone still, and nothing wrong with sticking to a budget!

  • jack lives here

  • Any lenovo t420?

Shout out to Green Gadgets ebay store as per the Pic on OP. Have purchased a few refurbished items there over the past year. Great devices and excellent service. Any drama's just call them and they look after you.

  • Surprised not to find any refurb Thinkpads in the sale.
Thought July was the month to buy them, since businesses renew their stock in June.

  • Does this work on refurbished EB Games consoles?

    • Doesn't seem to unfortunately.

  • Thanks OP.

    Got this laptop for $280…
