Where can they be used?
Selected merchant categories only (see below) Anywhere that Visa is accepted

As a rule of thumb, if the card has an activation fee then you can use it anywhere that Visa is accepted. However, you will only earn 10x points on the $50 and $100 denominations of those cards (variable load cards are excluded). This means that you’ll be paying $5.95 to earn just 500-1,000 Everyday Rewards points which is not recommended.

If the card doesn’t have an activation fee then you can only use it at merchants that correspond to the theme of the gift card (scroll down to see a complete list of where these cards can be used). All denominations of these category cards are eligible for 10x points including the $25-500 and $50-500 variable load cards.

  • Finally a card accepted by fortune tellers.
I've been looking forward to this.

    • I wonder if "Miscellaneous Personal Services (7299)" covers massages.

    • +2

Buy this card at 5% off and use card to ask the fortune teller when the next 10% off deal on these cards will take place.

      Winning.

      • +1

        Their name is WookieMonster

  • +2

Buying the $100 value isn't really worth, we still pay $5.95 activation fees.

  • Can these category gift cards be added to digital wallets like Apple/Google Pay?

    • I'm pretty sure no. I'm sure @WookieMonster would know better.

    • +2

OnlyONE Visa category gift cards cannot be added to a mobile wallet.

Activ Visa gift cards (including the Pets & Vets category gift card in this deal) can be added to a supported mobile wallet.

        Awesome thanks :)

  • Before anyone ask…

Can I use Everyday Rewards points to pay for gift cards in-store at Woolworths or BIG W?
    No.

Can I use Everyday Rewards Dollars to pay for gift cards at Woolworths or BIG W?
    No.

    • People will ask for more than these.

  • +1

When I see activation fee I run

    • This kind of deal is not for everyone.

    • Welcome to the future where you have to pay to spend your own money.

      • They count on some people not noticing that detail, I know a few like that.

  • Do those Prepaid Active Visa have the similar hacking issue with Coles MasterCard Gift Card? (question tone)

  • +1

I used the shopback supermarket card to purchase myer cards at coles. I hope it works with these cards

    • +1

I successfully purchased an Activ PrePaid Gift Card partially using the ShopBack Supermarket card. Which is technically Activ inception. I wonder how that's possible.

      • EDR fixed most known bugs in a year.

  • so visa Act Green, Visa Birthday and Visa Congrats are the same? Can be used in store and online?

  • I think Visa Active Green Variable should also be eligible for 10X points?

Because the bottom of the cataglue mentions: Fee for variable card is $7.95

    • Cards with fees are universal and same. Be careful with the cards not mentioned, unless the screen clearly shows bonus pts when purchase them.

    • No they are exclusive as per banner on the right.

  • Seems like Visa Congrats and Birthday variable load cards are not excluded as per T&C?

    • That is likely due to Woolworths and Woolworths Metro not selling them.

I checked three Woolworths stores today and have not seen either of those Activ Visa gift cards sold in a variable load denomination.

Obviously, it could be stocked at a Woolworths or Woolworths Metro I did not check today, but considering I have not noticed it stocked at a Woolworths or Woolworths Metro before today, I have my doubts.

  • Anyone could get 10× points for 500 card please?

    • +1

It probably has less risk to buy Women World Cup Activ VISA($1.95 fee) on Giftz via SB 3% cashback.

      • Went this route for $1250 of vouchers to pay some school fees. Just waiting for it to track through SB

        • +1

It took 3 hrs to track last time. The amount used to calculate cashback excludes card fee.

Someone says Activ VISA cannot be used to pay ATO bills.

  • has anyone tried it on eBay?

    • no one bought some Home Improvement cards to try it out?

I don't have anything to buy from Bunnings, just wanna know if it still works on eBay… :'-/

It could be because that was thoroughly OzBargained late last year when there was a price error on category-restricted OnlyONE Visa gift cards at Woolworths. This comment and this forum post both makes me think this loophole has been closed.

My guess for how this loophole existed in the first place is that Blackhawk Network (the owner of the OnlyONE Visa and Activ Visa gift card schemes) accidentally whitelisted MCC 5311 (Department Stores) on OnlyONE Home Improvement & DIY gift cards. The reason I think this is:

        • When I have done test transactions on eBay, the MCC for each transaction has been 5311.

        • ShopBack’s payment provider assigns MCC 5311 for a lot of the gift cards sold on that platform (e.g. Amazon, IKEA, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys). It assigns other MCCs for some other gift cards sold through ShopBack (e.g. DoorDash, Uber Eats, ShopBack Super Swap).

        • There were multiple reports during last year’s price error deal of people using OnlyONE Visa Home Improvement & DIY gift cards on eBay and ShopBack’s gift card portal. In theory, purchases at Myer and David Jones should have worked too (as they should use MCC 5311 too), but I did not see any reports of anyone attempting purchases at Myer and/or David Jones before this loophole appeared to be closed.

If I were you, I would not purchase a Home Improvement & DIY gift card through this deal if your only intention is to use it at eBay, and you have no backup plan.

bought $25 tested no luck, no ebay no SB any more

  • Anyone able to use home card on shopback to buy amazon gift card? It used to work before not sure if it still does ?

    • Not worth the risk. The deal was gone. I think no universal card is on sale this time. Upvote revoked.

Women World Cup Activ VISA($1.95 fee) on Giftz comes up with at least a little profit if Shopback works for you.
