  • This good for home assistant?

    • +1

Yes, probably an overkill but yes.

      • +1

Probably consumes too much power to run home assistant only. Maybe with plex.

        • And as a router, too

  • +1

How do these compare to the refurbished computer deals that we often see on ozb.

    • +3

I don't trust these Chinese mini PCs. Their driver files/support are suspicious at best. The refurbished PCs are from reputable manufactures.

      • +1

Plus potential build quality and thermal issues.

Give me an rock solid Optiplex any day.

        • Optiplex is made in China ………………………….. Just saying.

@bbcw1980: And? There’s a lot more involved in the resulting quality of the product other than just the country it’s manufactured in.

An iPhone and a $50 prepaid phone from Coles are both manufactured in China. You going to try and tell me they both go through the same quality control?

            • +1

@PainToad: It's not just quality control too. It's the design and engineering, and the firmware quality/stability too.

      • +1

Have agree with you on the drivers. I own a Beelink mini PC and a MeLE one. Took ages to get them both setup correctly because of drivers.

But once they’re up and running, they’re great

      • Suspicious? In which regard?

      • +1

Support, maybe. Drivers? They're all standard Intel platforms so just install Intel drivers from official website then.

Refurb PCs are way too power hungry (1L refurb = up to 45-65W, mini PCs = up to 15W) and slower.

I would say this will be more comparable to celeron baaed machines then i5 or i7 machines

    Thanks OP, great deal spotting.

  • Thanks Op - just pressed the go button!

  • vendors clearing out old stock as tonnes of Intel N100 comes in

  • +1

Deal expired, back up to $328.50

  • Better to get the N95 or N100? Cant see any major difference.

    • Basically the n100 uses much less power
      N100 6w cpu benchmark 5633
      N95 15w cpu benchmark 5449

      The N100 takes about a week to use 1kWh ~$15.50/yr (30c/kWh)
The N95 takes about 2.75 days to use 1kWh
      ~$40/yr (39c/kWh)
