      • o, but most phones are snapdragon aren't they

I think most phones are Snapdragon but I'd reckon that the chipset is locked down more. There's phones with a Mediatek chipset such as Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro for example. The Mediatek chipset phones tend to get a custom rom. LineageOS rom is a rom available for that Xiaomi phone.

Check how much HN wants for this phone and they call it a clearance price. You've got to laugh your ass off at that price. They want $799 for it.

    Just had mine delivered today.

First impressions are that screen and camera are very good.

After discount ebay gift card, bagged it for a tad over $247 delivered - which is looking like quite a decent bargain so far.

Had a need for a dual SIM, so is replacing a Galaxy S8 have had for 4.5 years and paid about same price back then for as a refurb. S8 is still on Android 9 and last security patch was April 2021, but still more than adequate for my needs, just no dual SIM. Therefore, doubt Android 11 and no more security patches are going to be a problem for me on this device.

S8 with military grade case fits well in side pocket of my jeans. This about same width, but around 1.5cm taller, so will be interested to see if it sticks out much once I get the Tudia protective case from Amazon delivered and onto it.

    • Just had mine delivered today also.. Two phones both boxes were already opened.. they look new but i guess i cant be 100% sure they are not refurbished

Advertised as NEW so I'm not sure whats going on. Did they open them to check if they are working?

      • +1

        Mine was unopened, seals intact.

        • Did Mobileciti start selling refurbished ones when they ran out of new? The phones look new no dings or scratches..all accessories are packaged like they are a new product

Looks like they still have this listed as new

        • Did your box come wrapped in plastic seal? or was it just the two stickers at the bottom?

      • +1

that happened for me for the last allphones deal. the phone had scuff marks along edges and accessories missing. definitely returned goods sold as new.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/777376

i asked for return immediately and the seller accepted promptly. they obviously know what they were doing.

this time one seal is broken on the box but inside looks intact so i took it.

      • listing says "New - Brand New / Sealed"

    • Seems to me that it has 2 physical nano sim slots instead of 1 physical + 1 nano right?

      • +1

The config is you can either have 2 x nano sim cards inserted for dual sim or 1 x nano sim + micro SD card. You can't have dual nano + micro SD card at the same time. If memory serves me right the micro SD card slot is on the reverse of the sim card holder. But once inserted it deliberately blocks the second nano card slot. It's deliberately designed that way for some reason.

So if you want dual sim then you're stuck with just the internal storage with no storage expansion. But then again it does have a large storage capacity.

Hope that bit of info helps.

  • Anyone managed to get Android 12 on their T810H? Bit lame that a pro model phone that should have gotten the update is still on Android 11…

  • I'm asking Mobileciti why both my phones boxes were already open.. The boxes were also dented and scuffed like they were already used by somsone…

    • +3

don't expect any answer. just return it. they have been doing this for some time. your devices are returned goods

      • I inspected the phones .. they look new.. all the
accessories also look new never used and are wrapped in plastic.. so it maybe just an open box but new.

    • Mine was fully sealed when received.

  • Does this really sell for $255? It comes up as $319 for me? And the indicated code (DASO20) does not seem to work at eBay checkout.

    • Are you an eBay plus member?

      • No. I was wondering if this was the reason. Many thanks!

        • +1

Yes. You will need the eBay Plus membership and then after that as well as applying the coupon code DASO20 during the checkout. And you will obtain the discounted price.

          • @hollykryten: Great. Thanks for clarifying.

            • @achso: Hey, did you manage to get it? I signed up for ebay plus (its showing me I'm saving $9.80 by using eBay plus) but the code (DASO20) still doesn't work at checkout. Still the $319 price.

  • It seems for what I can tell. TCL never actually was the manufacturer of these phones. For what I can tell is that this was actually manufactured by Alcatel for TCL. So sort of like a rebranded Alcatel smartphone but custom designed for TCL. Yep Alcatel made all TCL smartphones.

So peoples you've actually got a rebrand Alcatel phone.

    • Is it worth buying it though?

      • For the price yeah I'd reckon so.

  • Anyone knows how to activate VoLTE? It drops to 3G when I place a call. It would mean that I would not be able to make/receive calls after shutdown of 3G network.

    • Make sure that your mobile phone plan has VoLTE activated on it. Some MVNOs currently don't provide VoLTE but use 3G instead for phone calls. So relax any way even if they were to shut down 3G then they are sure likely to activate VoLTE on all plans before that happens.
