Hi BPC. I have a $29 'credit note' from my last order I'd like to use here, but how do I apply it?

    • +2

      Hi!

Place an order with a Bank transfer (don't pay first), then contact our sales team to apply your credit to the order.

Once the credit is applied we will issue you a new invoice so you can pay the rest of the amount.

      Cheers,
      BPC Team

      • Thanks for the quick answer

  • +1

Do I need to get a heatsink for this? If so, any ideas?

  • +1

This seems like a great drive especially for laptops. Power consumption figures are very low, even lower than the WD Black SN770. Details in the review by Tech Advisor

Fast, high TBW, low power consumption, 5 year warranty and the 4TB model is single sided. Can't go wrong with that combo!

    • It does get pretty hot though, so would depend on the cooling setup of the laptop. Mine hit 74C at full load without a heatsink and that's in my desktop ITX case with a 20cm fan blowing air into my case. Laptop temps might spike up more if there's no air flow.

      • This is expected behaviour under full load. Almost all gen 4 drives heat up quite a bit under load. Even the Samsung 990 Pro hits 72C under write intensive loads.

With typical usage, most of the time files are being read from the drive with light write tasks - game play etc. This shouldn't generate much heat. Write intensive tasks come into play with game installs or copying large files which generally is not that frequent for most users (there's always exceptions though).

What are the idle temps like?

@BPC Technology Any upcoming PC deals?

    • Let me talk to the PM, but for the upcoming month, not really, as the pricing of individual parts is shifting.

      Cheers,
      BPC Team

      • -3

Could you explain why the $10 discount code that you receive when you signup for the BPC newsletter doesn't work any more? It literally worked for the first ten minutes the deal was posted but says it's invalid now

      • any deals on mechanical HDDs by any chance

There you go mate, first 20 customer will get free rgb d5 ram upgrade.

I reached the limit so can't post anymore.

      Cheers,
      BPC Team

    • And starfield standard as well.

    Hi Guys:

Don't miss out on this deal, if you check the industry news, you would have known that the price is going up.
I was trying to run a promo like "buy a ram and a ssd get a copy of <Baldur's gate 3> for free."
But failed to get in touch with the gaming company.
So I put all of the effort to this promotion.
Unless something happened, this month's promo could be the lowest price for this entire year.

And this promotion is not only avaialble in Australia, if you are from New Zealand, it's also available from PB tech in NZ.
Back in here, In NSW, Mwave have the same prices. There will be few more resellers in QLD to start the promotion as well, I will add there names in later.
In the coming weeks, We are adding few more resellers to participate this promotion.

If you want to buy from certain location in ANZ region and have no access to the stock, please let me know, I will try to reach out to the reseller via our distrbutor to see if we can make this deal available at your door step.
However, due to limited funding and stock, we won't run this pass this month, and won't be able to supply entire Australia, but I will try my best to make them accessible.

Anyways, thanks guys, please spread the words.
If this one goes well, I will try to bring more deals into Australia and New Zealand

    • +4

      Love you Chris ~

    • +1

Are you able to extend the deal to your DDR5? Thanks.

      • +2

the DDR5 we didn't run any promotions, that was just our normal pricing, however ram pricing goes ups and downs very often, and Aussie dollar is not the most stable currency.

However I will see to it and make it happen next month.

I might run a promo with RGB 16G*2 6400, what do you think?

        • Sound good to me, Used the 6400 kit in a build for someone last week, was very happy with it, would like to see some faster kits. Look forward to seeing it cheaper. Thanks for that.

        • Hi Chris,

I was chatting to you this month, and you said you might be able to get some discounts on the DDR5 6400 Kits this coming month.
I just wanted to see if you have a time and price that this special might start. As I am keen to get some kits.

          Thanks Heaps

    • +3

      Hi, Chris.

If we remove the label of the SSD, will it void the warranty? Just want to get answer from the official rep. Thank you!

      • +2

unfortunately yes, unless you can do it in a way where it can be restored to the original form. but if you want to add heatsink, wait for a bit, we are brining in 3 new models, 1 of which is NM790 plus heatsink, it will be more expensive than this one (slightly) but comes with heatsink pre-installed, probably available next month.
I probably won't introduce that in 1TB with heatsink, but I can confirm for 2-4TB we will have heatsink models.

        • Thanks for the reply, Chris!

        • Slightly more expensive than this deal?

          • @cwongtech: more expensive than NM790 usually, this promo is a very special price. I would still recommend buy this one than wait for newer models

        • This is going to be important information for people who want to install this into a PS5, where a heatsink is recommended. Ripping off the label and voiding warranty just to install a 3rd party heatsink is undesirable.

          • @Blitzfx: Just peel it off carefully and store it flat, in the off chance you need a warranty claim slap it back on.

          • @Blitzfx: why do you need to rip off a label?

I did extensive research into this and ssd labels are thermal conductive and transfer heat, ssd makers are not stupid bro lol!

            • +1

@neosin: Another user here has reported that the label is thick and insulating, making heatsinks ineffective. It appears the designers at Lexar are kind of stupid.

              • @Hiphopopotamus: Lets see…

                Trust a random on ozbargain?
                or
Trust ssd makers that all have the same stickers on nvme drives?

                Hmmmmm, that's a hard one…

                /s

                • @neosin: Someone who has the drive and tested it, that has no reason to lie.

We've seen worse mistakes in tech products, any product really. It was probably as simple as them wanting to make the SSD look nice and choosing a high quality (thick/insulative) material for the sticker, without knowledge of SSD thermals.

                • @neosin: Companies who will happily save $0.01 on a cheaper label when most people won't care

Id whip it off and save it, reattach if needed for warranty

        • is that rule enforceable in australia

i thought australia doesnt acknowledge those stickers and labels that state "warranty void if removed"

    • +1

I checked the news and it says to HODL
"SSD Upgraders Take Note, Analysts Expect up to 13% Price Drop During Q3"
      "SSD prices set to plummet"

      • wait what ?

        • +2

I think this is probably part of the drop. Price is good (I bought one). Just wondering what the industry news is that @Chris Lexar ANZ is mentioning

      • I saw those too but still placed an order for 2TB. Would not lose too much in a year if the price drops later. I would hang on for longer if considering 4TB.

      • +1

        1TB is normally $79
        13% of 79 = 10.27
        $79 - $10.27 = $68.73
        Todays sales price = $65
Use code BPCT10 to get another $10 off and sign up too newsletter = $55 - Free Delivery to Metro

I think it should be safe to buy if you get this deal. Should not be to much buyers remorse later if price goes down. In Q3 now.

      • +2

let's revisit this news after Q3, the info I get is completely opposite to this Analyst's remark.
However I have to admit, there are countless times where I was told price is going up but ends up going down.

But for now, in the middle of Q3, I only see production cost going upwards.
We still have 50 days in the quarter, let's see what happens

      • its already q3

    • +1

If you manage to get BG3 included in another SSD promotion I might just need to buy another Lexar SSD

      • +1

I tried Diablo4, BG3, Armoured Core 5 and even Jagged Alliance 3, and got no response whatsoever.
        Will keep trying.

        • Probably don't pick Diablo 4. So many gamers are now AFK including me:(

          • +2

@BennyHe2018: After I get the barber with my Necro and hit Uber Lilith for 120M critical damage, I quit as well.
But when I started to reach out to game companies that was like April and May…
At the time I want to sell the drives on the release date or before the release date of those games.
            Yet no one replied me.

Let's see what other games I can get…
Starfield already working with AMD, so I can't do that either.

            • @Chris Lexar ANZ: this insight is really interesting to learn as a consumer. thanks for sharing

out of curiousity, how do the game devs make money off giving their games away in these bundles?

              • +1

                @furythree: Hi Furythree:

                Sorry to reply you late.
After steam take a share, your publisher take some shares, a 59.99 dollar game might give you a 15 dollar profit before you take out your own cost.
If I offer you 25 bucks directly and ask for 2000 keys, it's actually a better deal.

And for us, if you (a consumer) have to pay 59.99 or something for a game.

My SSD is like 25 bucks dearer than usual, but comes with a game.
                It's also considered a deal.

Plus, I will do lots of marketing and print posters of this game and put them on lots of websites.
                That's also extra exposure.
So it's a win for everyone.

                • @Chris Lexar ANZ: thats what i assumed, thats for verifying that insight!

i guess in this situation you passed the $25 savings onto us via discounted SSDs?

                  • +1

@furythree: Pretty much, so on the vendor side.
Based on my previous GP and revenue contribution, and company's strategic goals, I get assigned some money each quarter.
My job is to spread these money to expand market.
So I have to think a way to spend least amount of money and attract most amount of attention.
I put aside some money (more than 25 bucks to be honest) to buy games so I can do a grand launch on NM790 series. And turns out no one wants to work with us.
As a result I put two quarter's funding in one lot of SSDs and I have some tiny bit more on the RAMs.

(You will soon see a DDR5 deal posted on Ozbargain. )

                    • @Chris Lexar ANZ: thanks chris

i can honestly say ive used lexar in the past but only for usb sticks

was hesitant on NVMEs given the data importance it would be used for.

The price + warranty + communication + transparency regarding components and performance has converted me as customer for this deal + future deals

So id say the $25+ has been well spent than giving us a game that most of us would end up reselling (or got for free via gamepass anyway lol)

    • Earlier in the thread it was mentioned that the construction of the top label acts as an insulator, and by removing it, and adding a thermal pad and heatsink, it lowered the running temperature by ~30C.

      Does this void the warranty?

      • +1

The stickers on all nvme ssds are fine and don't need to be removed

they are designed to transfer heat to a heatsink

        • In practice, with this particular NVMe, earlier in the thread, @dangernoodle

Temps can get up to 74C (21C ambient temp according to my motherboard) because the top label is made from a cloth tape which acts as an insulator rather than as a heat spreader. Tried sticking thermal pad and heatsink on top of the label and temps stayed at 74C at full load (5x1gb crystaldiskmark runs). Removed the top label and stuck the thermal pad and heatsink on and temps dropped to 49C under full load and 44C under gaming loads.

I figured removing the top label wouldn't void warranty as the warranty info seems to be on the label on the underside. Top label is just branding.

    • Sounds like what someone wanting you to buy NOW would say…

      • This is true lol most stickers on SSDs are thermally conductive and basically act like a micro heatsink.

    • is this Chris Chang CEO of Lexar himself?

    • …if you are from New Zealand, it's also available from PB tech in NZ"

PBTech NZ prices are way more expensive- which is not surprising for them (taking the exchange rate into account also). Are they yet to run the promo or should NZ'ers just order from Aus as it's still cheaper doing it that way.

      • Check with them first, because of the logistic reasons it might take a bit time before they receive the stock.

        • Check with them first, because of the logistic reasons it might take a bit time before they receive the stock.

PBTech have absolutely no idea of this promo, I spoke to both their sales & product departments.
Not your fault though, it's pretty hopeless here with most businesses.

          • +1

            @Q2V3: Hi Q2V3:

I have spoken with them, it was confirmed that they haven't adjust the pricing yet.
Give it a day to get pricing adjusted (4tb stock probably need to wait a bit currently they are out)
but you will see the same price in NZ very shortly.

I will follow up on this one.

    • Great, thanks - any heads up as to which QLD resellers please? Will keep an eye out for your update

      • +2

will update that asap, stock is just on the way to QLD

        • -2

If you work for Lexar I’d say you should tick the associated box.

          • @WhyAmICommenting: It is in his username

            • -1
              • @WhyAmICommenting: Well he is barely on here trying to be sneakily persuasive under the guise of a general user.

Quite the opposite. Openly stating affiliation with the supplier and answering loads of questions quite helpfully.

Yes. He could have "ticked a box" but the same objective is achieved. No need to be a pedant for mine.

    • You have any plans for some 2.5" SSD deals on Lexar drives?

      • +1

So far no plans for 2.5" deals, simply becasue it's not in high demand as previous years. Plus we are driving the NVME to a point it is almost cheaper than SATA drives.
Or I should say, it's cheaper to buy a PCIE NVME adapter and NM790 than buying some of the SATA drives.

That said, I see some of our competitors in China is going to launch some crazy 8 - 32TB Sata drive.
If Lexar going to make those, I am happy to make a grand introduction on those.
But don't put too much hope in that, I haven't heard anything internally.

    • Any retailers in Tasmania planned, ideally around Hobart?

      Thanks

      • That would mean MSY. Everyone else are small players.

      • Hi Espada V8:

Nothing planned, I have few old friends in Hobart, I might talk to Principal Computers to see if they would like to range our products.
But the quickest way is probably order online. especially if you want 4TB, due to EU and USA amazon sold out our stock, I can't get many more in at the moment.

        • Small world. I've worked with them before ;)

        • I got a call from Principal Computers (in Tas) but it sounded like a SPAM caller (she said that I had a virus on my PC).
Spamers may have spoof Principal Computers's telephone numbers?
I have nothing to do with Principal Computers.

  • Is this a good gaming drive for PC?

    • +1

      Yes

      • Sweet ordered 4TB

        goodbye mechanical HDD

  • -1

This is also available at mwave for the same prices too. Is this a promo? If so, for how long?

    • Scroll up a little bit.

  • Looks like a great deal. Got one thanks!

  • +1

If it was to dump 1TB onto this drive in a single copy, would this slow down considerably after the first couple of hundred gb?

  • +1

Thanks! $55 for the 1TB delivered will do nicely in my PS5 - just need to source a cheap heatsink

  • +1

Hi, will you be updating the price on this on your ebay store?

    • +1

Yep, rep further above commented a Lexar discount rather than individual shop

  • DRAMless…. Does that matter in PS5 or general use? I have a KC3000 in my PS5 (1TB) and a 250/500 nvme combo in my PC. Both are 970 Evos gen 3. I'd probably consider swapping my 500gb for a 1-2tb of these, but I believe my 970s have dram. Would I realistically notice any issues/difference? (my board is gen3, so gen4 speeds don't matter)

    • +1

….I bit the bullet on a 1TB. I don't really need tonnes of storage as I have a NAS for that. For 65 bucks I can't go wrong.
