    What is Letterboxd?
Letterboxd is a global social network for grass-roots film discussion and discovery. Use it as a diary to record and share your opinion about films as you watch them, or just to keep track of films you’ve seen in the past. Showcase your favorites on your profile page. Rate, review and tag films as you add them. Find and follow your friends to see what they’re enjoying. Keep a watchlist of films you’d like to see, and create lists/collections on any given topic. We’ve been described as “like GoodReads for movies”.

We have apps for iOS, Android and Apple TV. Paying members get an ad-free experience, personalized all-time and annual stats pages, the option to select and filter by what’s available on their favorite streaming services, watchlist notifications, the ability to filter activity streams by entry type and to clone other members’ lists, and much more.

so it's just trakt but only for movies?

  • -2

No idea why anyone would pay for this tbh

I suppose the same kind of narcissist who thinks the rest of the world cares about their opinion of movies?

I pay for it? Why? I'm a major movie lover and it's the biggest hobby in my life. I've been a member of LB since 2012 way before anyone knew about the site. I signed up as soon as they brought out a members program because I wanted to see this little site succeed, which it finally is.

Also you get to see your stats if your a member, so seeing your most watched actor, genre etc of every year is really cool. Seeing which movie you've rewatched the most, which actor you've seen the most of. Which is your highest rated decade etc appeals to a stats nerd like me haha

I pay for it, I have about 400 movies in my watchlist and I watch maybe 3-5 movies a week. The main feature I love is that it shows you what movies in your watchlist is available on the streaming platforms you own, it's a huge time saver from the endless Netflix scrolling

Plus, I just really enjoy the website and think it's probably one of the best made sites I use, so I have no regrets about supporting them

On the streaming platforms thing, JustWatch app does the exact same thing for free. Completely understand about supporting them though because it is a great platform.

I know. But I still like Pro because it lets me filter my Letterboxd watchlist. JustWatch does not have a way to sync with my Letterboxd watchlist for free afaik

  • +1

I've rated 2200+ films. Still no idea why you would pay for this… Letterboxed is still a great resource though if you're a film buff

I find the ability to filter my watchlist by my subscribed services invaluable as I know straight away what I can watch at any point in time without having to go into each streaming app.
