  • free shipping??

    • +4

No, that's what the + del indicates.

However, checking shipping to my locale, alarmingly it's showing AAE normal $380 and express $1,552.99 - something is screwed up somewhere.

I only have one item in my cart, have refreshed etc and these shipping charges still remain.

Using the shipping tab, the numbers there are far more sensible -

      Shipping & Handling Fees
AAE Nationwide Delivery $12.95 inc GST (1-3 Business Days)
AAE Nationwide Express $39.39 inc GST (Next Business Day)

      • Check that you can't REDUCE per unit shipping, eg, by ordering 2 or more together.

        That $12.95 might cover 2 units… (This worked for me from HT.com, w/ N40L's.)

  • Seems like a good deal.

the Barracudas seem overkill for a nas?

        Possible explanation:
Standard shipping - gets delivered by a courier with a police escort
Express shipping - gets dropped by a SR-71 Blackbird travelling at mach 3

        • +2

Would that be a Police escort or "Police" looking escort?

    • I'm getting:

      Shipping & Handling Fees
AAE Nationwide Delivery $12.95 inc GST (1-3 Business Days)
AAE Nationwide Express $39.39 inc GST (Next Business Day
      )

Aww I don't get the police escort or SR71 drop-off

    • they must have fixed it cause this is what i get for melbourne

      Shipping & Handling Fees
AAE Nationwide Delivery $12.95 inc GST (1-3 Business Days)

WOW! Love the shipping costs for postcode 3000:

As always, shipping killed this deal

  • +16

so what's great about this deal?

    msy = $99 for RND2000 nas + 2 * $104 for seagate 7200.14 2tb hdds = $307 from msy everyday

    • ++++++++++++

      • never noticed MSY had the RND200 for $99. how much is delivery for MSY?

        • +2

          They don't deliver

        • +15

They can't even deliver properly when you're at the store, don't expect home delivery from them.

        • +1

the slacks creek store apparently does

        • .

        • 1+ Had to go in store to get my order as it took over 4 weeks with no delivery. Shocking service!

        • never was a statement more true.

    • My first check too after I received MWAVE email.

Ah nice find, they're listing the RND2000 for $219 on their parts list though… wonder if it's a pricing error.

      • (Oops, I meant that + for another post… Sorry… (but I can't take it back, so… it's your windfall… ;-)

      • are you referring to the msy parts list? it's also $115 at umart so i would be inclined to think is not an error. http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2…

mwave's price for the rnd2000 seems quite laughable

    • Also, what's so great about the RND2000 (I'm thinking it's ver 1, right?)

Finally, I recall when 2 TB Seagates (like those included) cost under $90.

      So, I agree… it's not really a deal at all…

      • +1

It's a deal if you are after those specific model and parts.

  • Is it version 1 or 2 of the Duo?

  • +1

This is for v1.. You can tell by searching their site for sku #30060234 which is included in the bundle. (RND2000-100AUS)

Here is for the NAS without the drives which may be a better deal for some. $120 is a pretty hot price for a NAS.

    http://www.mwave.com.au/sku-30060234-NETGEAR_RND2000_ReadyNA…

I have this NAS and love it.. but couple things to note:

The Duo v1 has an Infrant Sparc CPU whereas the v2 has an ARM. One of the key benifits of the duo is the applications that can run directly on it, removing the need to keep a PC on. However most new apps are not being created in SPARC as its the older technology, and Netgear has already made some of the apps obsolete.

And the second point, is that you can only have 1 usable drive in this NAS, the 2nd drive is only for backup/raid/etc using the first drive.

So with that , I have SABNZBD+Sickbeard running on this for my automatic downloading needs. I have set it up to email me once things have been downloaded which is neat. As well as MySqueezebox music server. Plus I use it as a FTP to access my files from work, combined with a Webserver to share pictures with family and friends.

Here is a list of apps that can be added.
