      • Thanks! I think I'll open it up to make sure what's actually there.
But does it mean that I can use any brand or model as long as it is DDR5-5600?

  • 2.7kg

    Oof

    • +2

1.8 kg for almost similar spec Dell xps 15.6". So 800 gr heavier with slightly bigger screen at more than half the price. Not too bad.

      • 1.8kg will go nicely in carry on, 2.7kg you're pushing things

You're not going to find anything like these specs at this price in a lightweight…

  • Opened mine up and it doesn't have Australian power cord…
Office works happily replaced it with the display model cord so all good. It was definitely Australian stock.

Bought one for a friend, running Ratchet & Clank - Rift Apart with DLSS 3.0 Quality FG with RTX ON / High all Settings with default resolution, I can get 60fps stable easily with just 40-60W GPU power. This laptop is a something… even better than my 3070Ti laptop on RTX ON with the same settings.

    • Hi mate what is the power output of the charger that comes with this laptop , thanks.

      • +1

230W, surprisingly it uses exactly the same power adapter as my Gigabyte Aero 5 XE4 lol

I haven't 100% tested yet (too short of a test), but I was running Guardians of the Galaxy with USB power and it seemed to be OK

  • Can anyone who has bought one confirm if they can run it from igpu ? i assume battery life would be amazing if possible ?

    • +2

Yes. It has Nvidia advanced Optimus. So essentially from Nvidia control panel you can choose to run iGPU only or discrete GPU only or auto select based on what you are doing. I haven't tested battery on iGPU only, but I assume it should be good.

    • I've noticed that it won't run from dGPU unless certain conditions are met such as: the hdmi port is being used; you configure it to use the dGPU only in the Nvidia control panel; you have a charger plugged in

For those who's still interested, I have just cancelled my order and there should soon be 1 unit available (better check prior to going) at Waurn Ponds ready to go. Good luck!!

I'm quite impressed with this laptop, for the money it's incredible value!

    Pros (so far)
+ Decent battery life; guessing it's the combo of 7640HS + Optimus + 90Whr battery
+ Can charge with USB-C (Thunderbolt)
+ Runs cool and quiet without losing much performance; the one push toggle button between different modes is really good letting you toggle between ECO and Balanced with on battery, and then between Quiet, Balanced, Performance and Turbo when plugged in with a different colour representing the mode + a notification from the software

    Cons
    - Doesn't seem to come shipped with software to automatically switch to 60hz on battery and 165hz when plugged in, or I haven't figured out how to do it

    • +1

      More Pros
+ Playing Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy on full brightness while charging via USB-C does not drain the battery!!!!

      Minor Con
      - Relatively heavy, but it's also not supposed to be an ultra portable

Recent review here https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/acer-nitro-16-2023 selling for 999 U.S so 1097 here is a good price.

  • Did anyone take the extension warranty insurance officeworks for 169 for extra 2 years cover. For 85 a year I'm considering it for peace of mind.

    • I did not. I thought the same thing already covered by the ACL? What I don't know is that how difficult it is to claim under the officeworks extension. If it is very quick and easy, no question asked, then it would be no brainer.

    • +1

$169 for two years cover on an $1100 device is bonkers expensive - even if they have to completely replace one in every seven machines then they've still got leftover money from the $1183 collected on those seven warranties ! In reality the failure rates won't be anywhere near that high.

Extended warranties are always a scam.

Thank you so much OP have been looking for this combination of specs for ages:

    -Zen4 architecture
    -8 cores(i got the rizen 7 model)
-nvidia 4000 series GPU (only game at 1080p on laptop with the bonus of cryptographic and machine learning cuda programming)
    -USB 4
    -16 inch panel with at least: 165Hz - 100% sRGB - 400 cd/m² brightness (at least according to spec sheet) - g-sync a bonus
    -advanced optimus
    -upgradeable ram
    -spare nvme slot

  • Managed to find one, last unit in WA. After opening it, was disappointed to see LED screeen wasn't aligned to the frame of the laptop. Had to return it. But the laptop itself was otherwise amazing. Oh well.

    • Just order another.

  • Yeah apparently they're going to be getting more stock so I expect Officeworks to have a few more of these over the next couple of months

  • Wow 1797 now

    • Geez what a jump!

      • 2099 on Amazon

        • +1

          • @Guybrush57: Picked mine up last night I will open over weekend.
