Anyone got a suggestion for a monitor with at least 65W USB-C PD and high refresh rate?

      • speakers?
      • +3

Usually monitors don't have good speakers so doesn't really matter.

        • +1

No, they're usually perfectly fine for YouTube, Teams or Zoom, unless you're at the bottom tier.

Believe it or not, some people don't wear headphones 100% of the time.

      • Gaming monitors usually don’t come with integrated speakers, usually ~3w*2. I guess targeted users prefer headsets or high quality speakers.

    • been using Acer XB 273UGX and this happen to satisfy your requirement.

The only thing I hate about it is although it have USB HUB via both Type A and Type C and you can select from firmware, it doesn't have 1 click KVM switch, which is SUPER DUMB.

    no deal..

    • +3

What makes you think it's no deal? There's not much about this monitor, so I have no idea if it's a good deal or not…

      • +1

i think its because there was a $500 deal for a 4k 144hz monitor from dell
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/778785

        • Yeah that was damn good. Would've jumped on it if it didn't mean tanking my frame rate. Was hoping to see a good 27" for like 300 ish :/

        • Um'd and ah'd over this one back then, was missing USB-C (work with Macbook a lot) but then realised you can combine it with a DP adapter with external PD. Oh well.

      • What makes you think it's no deal?

        This.

  • +2

No usb ports on the monitor fyi

  • Looks incredibly dated, design and feature wise

    • Looks identical to S2721DGF

  • +2

what's the difference between this and old DGF?

    • Has lost 3 USB ports and possibly a headphone jack. Not sure about image quality…

      • Lost LED back of monitor too. Seems like a budget cut version

      • +2

Also, the spec sheet says the Dell G2724D has a colour support of 16.8 million colors whereas the Dell S2721DGF had a colour support of 1.07 billion colors.

        • +1

Dell G2724D has a colour support of 16.8 million colors whereas the Dell S2721DGF had a colour support of 1.07 billion colors.

That implies they dropped the 10-bit colour space.

Although the HDR on the 2721dgf is a bit so-so anyway because of the max brightness being not so great and the lack of full array backlight dimming.

  • +1

Looks very similar to 32 inch version G3223D on sales few weeks ago https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/792521 which was cheaper.

    • +1

Missing a few features compared to the G3223D too.

    • Except 1440p resolution over 32" isn't very sharp. I had a 27" 1080p (similar pixel density) which wasn't great.

  • +3

Wish these manufacturers would stop trolling by calling these HDR. Call 400 and 600 nit screens SDR ffs.

    • +5

Damn right… needs a minimum of 1000nits to start calling it HDR.

      • +2

And not be edge lit for it to not look like shit

        • +2

Or claim to have FALD but then you find out its only like 8 zones… which then makes it even worse than having none.

Stupid tricks they play to add marketing features to pretend it's better.

  • +4

Seems like they just removed the usb and audio jack from the old DGF and halved the RRP, the chassis appear to be identical.

  • +1

Also took away the nice blue LED lighting on the back of the monitor.
    That's a shame.

    • +2

Never really understood it tbh. You'd always have the light on so you would never see it!

Shrinkflation be wildin'. Basically a gimped version of the OzBargain favourite.

forever in our memories S2721DGF <3

  • Muz…

    • I swear if he's had something to do with this!

    • Muz not…

    • Muz give em a buz

  • This looks like a step up from the S2721DGF. I read a review and it states it has HDMI 2.1. Someone on reddit confirms that it works with the variable refresh rate feature on PS5 which would make it very attractive for me. Has anyone else had any experience with this monitor and can confirm?

    • Until the Rtings review comes out I'm not so sure - looks to be reduced colours on this model.
      98% DCI-P3 on the S2721DGF

86% DCI-P3 on this new model according to PC World

      • +2

Rtings review just came out and looks like that 86% DCI-P3 coverage holds true for their unit, too.

        • +1

Cheers, thank you for sharing! Looks still like a decent monitor overall and probably the best at its price

          • @DiscountForThee: Tempting for sure. I also noticed both the PC World review you linked and the Rtings one indicate it has a rather high contrast ratio for an IPS panel. If only it had decent local dimming we'd have the king of budget HDR!

where are all the wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwqhd deals this is too boring

  • +1

I am happy if Dell selling old S2721DGF under $300 ^^

    • Can't find it on their refurb store anymore either unfortunately :'(

  • Price has dropped to $350.12 with the AUAFFILIATES5 code or $342.73 with the 7% off codes.

  • I just got an email saying my order has been delayed until Oct 24th, not happy. Think I will cancel the order.

After seeing the rtings review, this monitor, picture quality and speed wise (extra features aside), mostly destroys any other similar specced IPS monitor at this price point (You'd have to spend a lot more on mini-LED or OLED, and to get any decent HDR, or about the same price for higher contrast VA but most have slow black pixel transitions and other issues). This uses an AUO panel now, which has around 1400:1 contrast, should have less IPS glow than LG panels (such as S2721DGF), although this can vary a lot, should have a lot better colour accuracy out of the box (esp if you use the sRGB mode), has faster transitions/better tuning than most and should have a decent single overdrive mode experience while using VRR (probably use Super Fast). Unless you really need a wider colour gamut for unrealistic saturation if you like that kind of thing (or actual DCI-P3 or AdobeRGB workflows) or a USB hub then this should be a very decent gaming monitor with a great image for this price.

    • Yeah this might be my monitor of choice when sales pop up. I was keen on seeing a review on those new MSI rapid VA monitors but no one's picked those up yet and I'm sceptical that it would be as good as this anyway at a similar price. HDR for monitors is going nowhere fast unless you're keen on spending like a grand so I'm pretty much just looking at getting a SDR display for the time being.

      • +1

I thought this is on sale atm, but yeah absolutely. If you end up getting one, you could come back here and leave a short review and let us know what you think of it.
Edit: Seems to have just gone up to $399 today 6/10/23 :(
