Yes, but the ratio seems (I haven't researched too hard) to be worse if stacking on an existing GPU sub, than waiting it out, activating, and then converting back to GPU after the mark.
If converting after the mark, it should be a 3:2 ratio, meaning 3 months buys 2 months, but it seems (again, haven't looked too hard) if you stack it to an existing sub, you only get 51 days. So when you're buying 9 of these bad boys, and going to 51 instead of 60 days, 9x9=81 days, so almost 3 full months lost by being impatient.

No I think you're right. Honestly I don't even know why I have ultimate, I don't use it, I don't have an xbox. I only got it because I thought I'd use the cloud more but I don't so I should probably convert it back to normal

Yeah, Micro$oft changed the rules recently. The higher the number of months of XBox Live Gold, the worse the conversion ratio. Doing it one at the time (and wait) might be better.
Also, XBox Live Gold is going to be changed to GamePass Core. Personally, I think GamePass Core is inferior, but that's just me.

@easternculture: I don't even know why I bothered. The only game we play online is Fortnite, which doesn't need Gold. Gold games have been shit for ages and now are gone all together, I have no interest in their little mini catalogue and own the ones I do care about … Game Pass I never play anything anyway. Honestly might give the codes to someone for xmas or something.

@easternculture: My oldest loves the ol' Mince Raft also. I knew I wasn't likely to renew my sub when it ends in Feb next year though, so I just bought a code for the game off Eneba a couple months back for 3 or 4 bucks. She only plays on her own or with me though, so online didn't matter.
Love the MS Reward stuff though, I was looking the other day and since starting it in 2021 I've cashed in over 300 bucks of Xbox credit.

Ahh okay, didn't work for me beyond the first month when I topped up a couple of months ago, turning off autobill didn't retrigger it. Maybe I did something wrong.
It has been speculated that it depends on what payment option you have configured with the account. FWIW the account i was using had a PayPal account linked
@Bruceflix: Interesting, I had a visa debit card linked. Has worked in the past for me though so not sure if it's a change in system or what!
@snoopydoop: From what I've seen previously it can also just be completely random (targeted?) regardless of Paypal or not, so people are taking a risk with this method.
Anyone else having issues with redeeming? I've managed to get 2/9 of mine through. First two had issues and not sure which one has been redeemed. Tried 4 and 5 of 9 and running into issues with the message below.

Its a process of redeeming the cards and then adding 1 month of ultimate i think to get the best ratio of convertion.

It will convert your 36 months of Live Gold to 36 months of Game Pass Ultimate.

Totally confused. Bought 9, got just over 400 days added to my sub. 3 codes said 'already redeemed'. Contacted Microsoft support and they said all three codes are added to my account. 7 codes showing as redeemed on my order history.
I guess I got roughly half price game pass, but I still don't understand what happened.
Did you do the auto renew bonus trick? And yes it is a known thing that codes can incorrectly say already redeemed but actually applied, just need to double check the date/days.
What’s this auto renew thing? I’ve tried looking for a straight answer but can’t seem to find any. My GPU runs out 4/9/23
When redeeming a Gold code in your Microsoft account it will ask if you want to turn on recurring billing/auto-renew. If you do then it will give you a free bonus month. You then turn this off straight after so you can keep repeating it as you redeem. Hence why you only need to buy 9 codes to reach 36 months (9 codes * 3 months + 9 Bonus months). Don't do this though if buying 12 month codes (or you won't be able to claim the last one)
Only problem is this sometimes does not appear for some users. Seems having a valid form of payment saved in your Microsoft account like Paypal may increase your chances but I'm not sure it's guaranteed.
@wangasm: Doesnt ask me to do reoccurring billing. Its currently off. Tried through xbox and web. Any tips would be great.
Im only on gold, as redeemed first code only, GPU expired last month. Trying to figure out why it doesnt offer reoccuring billing to activate another one.
@LaminatedToes: I think you need to toggle it on and off in your Microsoft account (I used PayPal) with each code claimed to ensure you get the free month, as I believe that I left some free months on the table.
I was only offered once when I bought my Xbox back in June, never again.

This does work, but make sure you have auto-renew on with PayPal. I forgot briefly, and lost myself some free months. I still managed to push my subscription out to December 2025 for the $94.
I also had one code claim that it had been redeemed already - I was busy taking screenshots and gathering evidence to chase support. Then it randomly appeared in my account 5-10min later, so there was no need. I can't guarantee this will be the case for everyone.

I had the same issue, and a few of my activations were reeeeeeeeally slow - there must have been some technical issues at Microsoft 🤷🏼♂️
It said my discount code had already been used by me (which is weird as I've never used eneba before) and failed the transaction. So it never actually generated any keys
Even without the 8% discount it's a good price to get an existing GPU extended. I don't want to wait as Gold is finishing in September, so am extending my GPU for the full 3 years. It was on about 1 year and 10 months before I extended just now.

With the current price over 18 bucks pm with MS. .same rationale.. good enough price for me to extend my gpu to the 3 yr limit. 51 days at a time.No issues with the codes or redeeming .. all went through smoothly.
