Hi All

If you are not a legitimate employee of the domain you are using to access and sign up to the home use program then this is against the terms of the purchase.

The Home Use Program is a benefit available to the organisation which has a Microsoft agreement that includes Office with Software Assurance for business use. The benefit allows the employee to have Office to use at home for the cost of the media.

If you do not work for the company who's domain you are using then I would suggest saving your cash going to your favourite torrent site.

  Twitch has a valid point. In the true spirit of the Ozbargain community, people are negging without providing a valid counter-reason. Although I haven't read the entire EULA, I believe that a breach of the Agreement, such as that mentioned, would entitle MS to revoke the licence and key issued despite any amount you paid for it.

If free upgrade is eligible basically we will have TWO licences, one licence for 2010 and one licence for 2013.

  People really don't understand this deal at all. If you use a myspace account and do not work for myspace you are not eligible for this deal it is part of the terms and conditions.If your work email does work then you are.
  
  Businesses who have volume licensing and have signed up for the home use program are eligible. See microsoft makes money from the business paying for office for the employee using volume licensing and the hup program. Part of that deal allows the employees to buy a cheap version of office for home. So the money Microsoft makes off this deal is really from the companies volume licensing and not the home use program. So since everyone signing up using a myspace account obviously the company hasn't paid a volume license for the users and so they aren't eligible.
  
  When Microsoft realizes what people are doing to myspace you can bet they will be revoking access. So eligible for a free upgrade? Everyone who is signing up using myspace isn't even eligible for this offer.

If you don't work for MySpace buying this is fallout illegal and against the terms. Even better they have your payment details to chase you up.

Ask your employer if you have a HUP. Most big companies do.

  If you signed up using a Myspace account you are breaching the terms and conditions. So updates will work until Microsoft revokes that key.

I got it working with an old myspace account. Didn't have to tweak any settings at all. But had to get microsoft to resend the confirmation email as I didn't receive the email first time around.

  Myspace worked without any problems - just took 24+hrs to accept any email.
  And you can select countries other than USA - eg NZ$10 ($7.88) was a better price.
  
  Thanks OP - my ancient copy of Office had given up after a few hardware changes, and it was umm… not an official MS copy. So just what I needed at a really good price.

  Myspace won't let me send an email to [email protected] from my myspace account I get "You must add at least one person to the To line to send a message." even though the above address is in the "To" line, I could send a message to my yahoo address but when I try send one from yahoo to myspace it gets bounced back with this error "Remote host said: 550 5.1.1 <[email protected]> recipient rejected [RCPT_TO].
  
  The myspace account is an old one and I have the email setting in myspace set to open but it doesn't want to work.

      Yeah there's nothing in the junk folder either, I can't even send myself an email to the myspace address it keeps getting bounced back, all the settings look ok so I have no idea why it's not working.
      I was trying to get it for my sister for her son for school as they keep pressuring them to get office even though they have programs that do the same thing, being a single parent it's difficult for her to afford all the crap they are supposed to have now days.
      Oh well they will just have to make do with what they are using for now.
      
      The sign up site is accepting my myspace email I'm just not receiving anything.

I used the my old myspace email. I too had problems receiving email to this address. I could only send out emails. However, EXACTLY 24 hours after sending out my first email from my myspace account, I would receive emails too. Incidentally, I'm curious to how all these people purchased it in Indian Rupees or NZ Dollars. I tried this but if you say that you are in NZ or India, the purchase page will automatically fill in the country and that couldn't be changed. How would you have your credit card billed correctly if you have given your details as "India?"

    I waited for more than 40 hours to become myspace email address active and I received only one email that contained buy now link to MSHUP website. That was enough to make the purchase. I used India as a country. Weird thing is I was not able to receive the second email that contained the product key and download link, however it was sent to my personal email address as a copy of the same email. I am very happy with the purchase. Great job done by the Original Poster.
