15 min drive to beach :(

    • 15 minutes drive to Kuta, not the beach.

15 min could as well be 1 hour with the traffic..

It seems it is a 15min walk to Sanur beach

yep it in the middle of nowhere.
I think you would be "speed racer" to get from Sanur to Kuta in 15 min. maybe on a motorbike at 2am.

"Bali Getaways" has this deal for years. In fact, I purchased without searching for one week Bali for $199 (+ booking fee). Anyway, I found the right flight and searched the place. I realized that will be foolish to take 1-2 weeks holiday with a heavy airfare than spend it in a doggie place middle of nowhere. At the end I went to Bali but stayed in another accomodation and never used that place (voucher is still valid..). I strongly advise to go safe places if you are travelling to Bali.

  • I'd rather take a holiday to the local dump than Bali. I really don't get why it's so appealing to bogans.

Bali's not all about drinking and partying.

Cheap and full of fellow bogans?

    • The problem with Aussies in Bali is now very middle class. Driving up prices, wanting overly eastern food cooked to western tastes killing off true local cuisine, flooding areas like Ubud with way too many people etc.

Bogans are about but the vast, vast majority are in Kuta. Avoid Kuta and you're unlikely to run into a bogan. But plenty of middle-classers.

      • And yet Bali is such a large island that all you have to do is drive 30 minutes in any direction away from Kuta to actually experience something genuine. Of all the numerous times I've been, I have only been in Kuta twice for a few hours.

I don't know how people can can only visit Bali for Kuta.

People in Bali are genuine overall.

Heres my tip to anyone going to Bali… If you treat every street vendor as just a street vendor, you will just get a street vendor. If you treat them like a unique human being, you are going to find some unique human beings.

          Can't wait to head back.

  • How fast is the WiFi and is it free? And do you get cable, HBO, and/or HD channels?

You go on holidays to watch tv?

      • well it's a good form of relaxation if work makes you stressed and you need to unwind before you go postal on your work colleagues. Most holidays involve sightseeing, hiking, tours etc and you still need a holiday when you come back home, so these sorts of vactions should be called 'change of scenery' trips rather than a holiday.
