it's accessible by the eufy app.

  • Sorry does this work with Google home stuff in Australia?

    • FAQ

Is Solar Wall Light Cam S120 compatible with Apple HomeKit? What about HomeBase 3?

Apple HomeKit is not currently supported. Alexa and the Google Assistant are supported. S120 will be HomeBase 3 compatible from mid-October, but don't worry, S120 is a standalone device that can be uses without HomeBase.

      • Sorry not too technical savvy here, can I get this too show up on a Google max or other Google assistant /phone/ devices? ,I dnt have any other eufy items

        • Probably not on google. I don't have eufy as well Btw so I might be wrong. Keen to hear others chime in on this.

        • I have 4 eufy devices showing on my nest hub, and on my home app on my phone.

  • I considered getting one myself but the place I would put it won't get enough sun i believe.

You were going to put it where the sun don’t shine?

  • Two way audio is half duplex and only 8GB of internal storage.

    • +1

8GB is plenty for a single camera.
My homebase is only 16GB and gives me about 7 months of playback on two 2k cameras.

      • Legit?

So if I were to buy MicroSD cards for each 2K wifi camera, what size would be suitable?

        • 8GB would do you pretty well, but 16GB probably ideal considering how cheap the cards are. Just make sure they're a high enough class for constant rewriting.

Eufy seem to be really efficient with data compression etc, but it obviously depends how busy the area they're recording is. My doorbell and security cameras are away from the busy areas to be fair so recordings are sporadic, maybe ten or so each per day for a minute or so.

Can you install this with strong 3M adhesive wall tape without drilling holes on brick wall?

Shows how much Bunnings ripping us off with "exclusives"

    • I couldn't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to. The back of the plate looks pretty flat.

      • I'm more concerned if the weight of the device is too heavy or if the temperature outside during summer will male the device fall though

    • +1

I wouldn't trust adhesive in exterior weather conditions.

It will be costly if your camera falls

      • True but drill thru bricks….is not something I would do. Wood is fine but Bricks are permanent fixture. Sealing up don't look good if this device ever removed.

  • In a partially off topic question,

what would you guys recommend for a budget best value indoor camera?

Looking for one with no subscription required.
Got my eyes on Tapo C200 ($47), C210 ($65) and Tenda CP7 ($49) right now.

    • Eufy indoor pan and tilt are great if you are planning on one ecosystem.

Does it work if there’s no wifi? Am I able to still view it from phone?

    • +1

Without wifi how are you supposed to connect with it? Or you mean without internet. In both case no.

It will still record without internet.

  • +1

Anyone know how quick the actual motion detection and recording is? My solar Reo link Argus 2 is awful. Misses more then it captures, and when it does, its so slow it barely even captures the person or only gets them leaving.

    • +1

I actually have this exact same issue with the Argus 3

      • New one coming to match Eufy's products. New Body new shape. Look into reolink roadmap..

I wouldn't be surprised they have done the hard yards to fix the previous issues to take the sales off Eufy.

    • With my Eufy floodlight camera, it saves footage with about 5 seconds or so buffer before it detects the person, so within the saved footage I'll often see posties open my front gate before the camera even had a chance to see them.

      • Yeah but this is a solar cam. They need to conserve energy so can function differently.

      • Is it wired or wireless please?

        • Wired.

  • Does this record 24hours? How does this compare to the eufy outdoor 2K wired cam?

    • +1

I don't believe this would record 24/7. You also wouldn't want a wireless camera to though. The battery would die within a few days, in not a single day.

You only want motion detections recorded.

  • Great - thanks Op!!

has human detection as well - great priced security device that doesn't need wiring

Getting $199 ,anyone ever have to return anything to Amazon US if this goes to shit?

    • -1

I did return my keyboard, years ago, when Amazon AU didn't exist. They covered my shipping fees which was half of the keyboard price lol. Was surprise with the service. Just prove to them that the product doesn't work as it should.

Amazing how people here are so quick to denounce well known tech companies and easy to hate companies but Eufy who literally confessed to breaking privacy laws gets upvoted 100+, if you dont believe me here: https://www.theverge.com/23573362/anker-eufy-security-camera…

    • +3

Sir, this is OzBargain. We would literally sell our souls for a bargain.

      Are you lost?

      • -2

No you wouldnt, if you've seen comments under deals that include Blizzard/Activision games, Non-AMD PC parts, ASUS branded stuff etc etc

        • +1

Meanwhile you think Google and Alexa devices don't do the same? You might as well not use any

Read properly: "But Anker says that’s now largely fixed. Every video stream request originating from Eufy’s web portal will now be end-to-end encrypted — like they are with Eufy’s app — and the company says it’s updating every single Eufy camera to use WebRTC, which is encrypted by default"

Unless you want to go in lengths to verify that claim

My take is once you start using any IoT devices or the Internet, you expect information is shared or in storage somewhere. and Depending how important that information is to you. YMMV

The only way to prevent that is either Not use it, or never expose any information in the first place (difficult to a degree many T&C and terms of use would capture meta data etc).

    • if you dont believe me here: (verge clickbait article).

That story was ridiculous. How can you read it, and come away with any other conclusion than a storm in teacup?

      From the article:

"only 0.1 percent of our current daily users use the secure Web portal feature at eufy.com."

LOL…. let's put that in bold. 0.1% of users. Meaning 99.9% of users were unaffected and likely never knew there's a web portal or have any interest in it. Everyone uses the app, which never had that "issue". All the other questions and answers are resolved, and the responses seem legitimate. Sometimes you need to stop taking your cues from tech bloggers, and instead read for yourself what the issues are. Spoiler alert: there are no remaining security issues, and the ones identified were not a big deal anyway.

      • +1

Yes i get it, you wont bother researching further and you think the verge is the only one with the issues with it, you using the cameras so no way they are bad

        10/10 logic

Sometimes you need to stop being selective with your outrage and treat all companies the same.

        • Yes i get it

          do you though?

  • For some reason the coupon could not be applied when I was placing the order, however surfing the internet I came across another coupon that works the same which is EUFYSWLC20, hope this helps in case you run into similar issue.

  • Wow. 2 x S120 were delivered today! Thanks OP.

    • Mate does it work & connect with their app @bmxr
just want to confirm it works in Australia before ordering
      thanks in advance
Planning on ordering it just want to confirm before

Works perfectly with the Eufy Security App. Have installed one at our house and one at our parents house. Observations:

Works all night on no more than 3-4 hours of sunlight.
        Super easy to setup.
        Light is really bright.
        Nightvision is great.
        Alarm is loud enough.
        Weatherproof and good build quality.
Video at 2K is good, the sound recording is even better!
It starts recording within 1 second of movement.
Receive notifications within a couple of seconds (with a thumbnail image, if you turned the thumbnail off it would be even quicker).

Downsides - only 2.4ghz WiFi, but still more than enough to stream 2K with sound to any of your devices wherever you are. And where we have ours mounted, the 2.4Ghz gives us better range.

Very tempted to get another couple!

There's a couple of video links in here to Youtube that show it working with the app.

        • How did you install these? Is it possible to install without drilling holes?

          • +1

@greenie: I used a single self-tapping screw in to timber (not the 3 that it suggests are required). But there are others in this thread who have found 3d backing plate prints that would work with decent double sided tape. Although it is quite a well-built piece of kit (decent weight), I wouldn't trust double sided tape for too long if exposed to the elements.

  • I just got the camera and tried to see the live camera from my Echo Show, but it didn't work. And I read the review that Alexa only treat it as a motion sensor rather than a camera. Anyone knows if I can use Echo Show to see live motion or turn on when there is a motion detected ?

    • @yht
just want to confirm if it works in australia with their app ? another thing is it weatherproof or rain or waterproof ?
      thanks in advance
Planning on ordering it just want to confirm before

  • +1

Received mine and it works great. Probably going to try and find a way to install it without drilling if I can.

    • Have you noticed that the app is showing the clip recordings not in daylight saving time? My cameras internal clock seems to have corrected itself, but the clips keep showing the old time.

      • As in the timestamp embedded in the video recording? Mine is correctly showing daylight savings time there.

Question in return: have you noticed the solar charging dashboard lost the stats from the last week? My graphs all disappeared and it's started again as of 2 Oct with no history before that.

        • No, not the timestamp on the actual video, the timestamp in the app just before you click the video. Time is incorrect on mine.
I’ve only had mine for three days so can’t comment on there thing you’ve experienced!

          • @Andard: Oh you're right, timestamp embedded in the video says 1:25pm, the recording in the app list view says 2:25pm.

            • @unco: yeah bit of a fail on Eufy's part.. I'll write to thier support

            • @unco: Okay, here’s a weird one. I triggered the camera last night just after 11, and I got a notification for to my phone. But this morning after I’ve watched the video and went back to the archives the video’s completely missing. I’m guessing because of this time bug it doesn’t show up on yesterday’s recordings because ( although it was 11 pm) the app’s thinking it’s after midnight. It doesn’t show up on the next day either. Can’t access the video at all.
