Don’t reply at all. Your posts have nothing to do with this deal.

TP Link has some very confusing branding of their WiFi products. I don't think this unit is actually dual band. I think it is an old model that only supports 2.4GHz, which is very limited in most situations. Happy to be corrected.

Their website states it is 'AC1300', so it should support 5 GHz 802.11ac.

      • The summary specifications on the Amazon page don't match the product. It does appear that it is dual band with 5GHz. They also have tri band versions.

    • +2

      Deco M5 has Wi-Fi 5, dual band 5GHz and 2.4GHz.

Can confirm this. Mine at home does anyway…

    • Definitely dual band

Did they ever update the firmware so that you don't lose all of your LAN connections when the WAN port is disconnected?

On the TP-Link forum there are still complaints about it doing it so I guess not.

I gave up on these as I had a pretty crap internet connection for a while and every time it dropped out I couldn't access anything in my house on the network - not great for cameras, doorbells etc.

  • I have a tp link modem with voip,
I know that cannot join the mesh network but if I just share the internet signal via Ethernet to one of these mesh routers and setup four of them will that work?

I’ll turn off the wifi signal on the original router

    • That's the idea. You can then either use them as access points so DHCP, etc. is handled by the client, you could put the router in bridge mode or you could put the Deco on a different IP range and double NAT the whole thing.

ARGH - Missed it! Been looking for a single one for ages….

      Back in stock at $68.85.

  • Since this is OOS again, If anyone needs 2 you can grab this instead https://www.amazon.com.au/TP-Link-AC1300-Whole-System-DecoM5…

$75ea and comes with a 100mbps switch. Kinda useless these days but $150 for 2 M5's is still decent value.

  • There appears to be stock again, shipped by Harris Technology (same as original deal).

      Thanks! Will update

  • This looks very expensive.

    Mercusys Halo70X x2 pack (Wifi 6) is $130ish…

    • Ahh… but are they genuine Mercusys?

      • On Amazon, I don't see why they would be fake tbh.

        • Sorry - I was being a little tongue in cheek, since I wasn't previous aware of Mercursys and infer that brand may not quite be on a par with TPLink. ;-)

I suspect most people indulging this deal would already be in the Deco Wifi 5 ecosystem and just looking for an additional point to increase current mesh networks.

That said, prices are indeed sharp on the Mercusys and brand name doesn't always correlate to performance. I see that Mercursys also do a 3 pack of their AX1800 system for just $141 @ https://www.amazon.com.au/MERCUSYS-Coverage-Over-100-Devices… Unfortunately, it's the UK version which presumably has crippled wifi signal strength and range…
