  • I know it doesn't work with aftermarket screens but will it work with the Mazda upgrade kit to android auto and carplay?

I tried my carlinkit 5 that I have in my Kia Sorento and it works fine in 2020+ mazda 3. Tried on my mate's Mazda 3

Yep, it works with Mazda retrofit kits

      • Thanks

    • Yes it does.

Great price, recently bought the same one for $86 from Amazon

  • Good price.

Got one for about $80 and was worried after seeing negative reviews about previous versions. Mines been flawless with my S21U.

Only thing that doesn't work is access the web page for firmware updates. I think a commentator said to use a power bank near to get it to connect via wifi without car to get it to work.

  • Bought, thanks.

can anyone vouch for the compatibility of this device with newer samsung phones? although my mi 9t worked well with my alpine ilx-f259e, apparently it doesn't 'officially' support android auto so my s23 doesn't work over a wired connection. 🙄

    • +1

      works fine with my s22

  • 66 + duties + shipping insurance
= $72.40 delivered for me showing at checkout….

Edit: found I can actually untick the boxes. $66 delivered.

Got one. Great price, looking forward to hooking it up to my CX-30.

    • $73.52 was all I could get it down to. It sounds like you were able to remove the $9.42 shipping charge. How did you manage to do that?

  • I can't find where put in the code

  • After checking their return policy, I would purchase from Amazon in case it doesn't meet my needs…

I bought this 2 weeks ago and it hasn't worked not once. Tried troubleshooting with Carlinkit and contacted Lightinthebox to organise a return but just keep getting the run around even though the device is very clearly faulty. If you're going to purchase, do it via Amazon not Lightinthebox. At least you can get help when you receive a faulty item.

    • Not sure if it works in your case but some usb ports in the car don't have enough power, so you need Y cable that plugs into 2 ports. Good luck.

      • Any response rep?

        • Still no response from anyone at Lightinthebox, lodging a chargeback with my bank today.

Purchased a Y cable hoping that would work but still nothing, just flashing logo on the device and not much else. Makes for an expensive car disco light

@Danmc181: I was gonna neg but I got a response to my cancellation in ~1d then further confirmation of the cancellation and refund in ~3 days… best of luck!

But yeah no rep response here is pretty disheartening! Expecting future posts to be insta negged….!

    • What digitalsin said. Your car might not be delivering enough power to it and need a power splitter.

Bought one a few months ago and doesn't work with a new outlander and android phone

    • Did you end up returning it for a refund or similar?

  • Does anyone know if this has a setting to shut down when disconnected from the cars Bluetooth, like the aawireless dongle?

My car keeps power running to the USB ports for a few minutes after turning it off and the phone remains connected and not to my homes wifi when I had an older unit. Was really annoying.

  • IMO the only drawback to this wireless one is your phone does not get charged at the same time and if maps and any song app is being used then it drains the battery quickly.

    • It's actually better because you can connect it to a fast charger instead of the car's slow charger.

  • If using multiple phones with same unit, the Carsifi dongle with the magic button is the way to go.

  • +2

Above info re customer service is concerning. I ended up opening a ticket to cancel my order, as it says within 24 hrs before it's shipped you can for a full refund. Hopefully thats the case… not worth saving $10 if the rep posting here doesn't even respond and people saying they had a run around when needed support.

  • Mine works randomly, sometimes it takes a few minutes and other times 20 minutes and it will connect. Tried different usb ports and it makes no difference. Light is on during this so it's getting power.

  • Really glitchy for Android Auto w/ Calais 2019. Can take 5 minutes to connect, and sometimes does not connect at all until restart. Sometimes when Google Maps is working you can't run other apps as the taskbar does not work. I am going to return it. Do not buy this.

This feels like a monthly spam of the same price range

After 3 months of use, mine works great.

      • +2

How was it in the 1st 3 months?

        • Great

      • What phone do you have and what's the make and model of your vehicle, if you don't mind my asking?

        • +1

I've had mine with my S21U and MY19 Outlander - works great, I used wired connection for about 3 years and can barely notice a difference.

Only time it doesn't work is if I've go already got a Bluetooth device connected eg. ear buds.

Other then that no noticeable latency. Startup is about 10 seconds more then wired connection.

        • +1

Working great with Android on a Corolla Cross here.

    • Any other options to buy than this - better/cheaper?
Tired of the hyundai santa fe requiring a wired connection - no reason it shouldnt have supported wireless :P

    • +1

mine works both ways, but i prefer plugging it in so i can charge it while using it. i would only use it wirelessly if my battery is full and someone else needs to use it.

    • Been using it for two months. Only annoying issue I have is if I turn the car off and then on again quickly (e.g. during refueling) it doesnt connect properly the second time and I need to powercycle the device.

    • Working much better for me than the wired solution that comes with my 2022 kia sportage gt.

    • +1

And again I am going to neg this post due to the incredibly poor service from Lightinthebox. I still have no working carlinkit device and no refund, they just keep coming back with excuses or "we'll send double adaptors" and nothing works.

A huge red flag is that they don't even have a proper returns process, telling me to pay an extra $40 to ship it back to them that they "promise" they'll also refund at some point. I just want a refund for the clearly non-functioning device.

      Avoid purchasing from Lightinthebox.

  • I got mine from eBay and it's not bad, have been getting the no internet issue as my phone needs my permission to switch to mobile data 'automatically' everytime…
