Series 9 is such a let-down. Beyond the new chip, nothing is new. the double tap feature i've used on my Series 7 since i got it…in fact there's single tap and clench features as well. Definitely consider the Series 7 & 8 deals if you are in the market imo.

As an accessibility feature, yes. But it works differently under the hood, so I would not say that it is exactly the same.
how so? it's sold as a double tap answering/hang up feature.
I currently use single pinch to scroll, double pinch to scroll backwards, Clench for Notification Shade, Double Clench to launch Apple Pay…the only annoying thing is i can't set clench to double tap side button to pay.

It’s the first new chip in like 3 generations so I’d say it’s a fairly substantial upgrade.
how so? of all the apple devices in the market, a chip upgrade is probably the most meaningless in a watch.. The battery hasn't got a sizeable bump. That's really all you need as the watch (mine anyway) has never been buggy. So if anything in a watch additional features mean a whole lot more than the S9 chip.
Well, this SIP ups storage to 64GB, doubles brightness and allows more gestures. Oh, and wifi6e.
But I would definitely go the series 8 at this price. Hope we see it again.

@FrugalSplack: Yeh I agree but updates will still cover series 6 at this stage. Those in my boat are better off waiting for series 10. Huge disappointment this year. The iPhone is no better as well. I was looking forward to a shiny iPhone 15 pro max but na unless my phone explodes, I’ll skip this one

Excellent price but SS is too heavy and scratches easily. I went from the Graphite SS to a PRODUCT Red Aluminium without any regrets.
scratches easily? it works opposite way. regular models worse in it
SS is prone to micro scratches whereas the Aluminium is not. Mind you, this is coming from someone who is very careful with his belongings. This is just my experience, YMMV.
Alu is far softer than SS lol. You're just comparing a polished finish to the matte Alu. I'd much rather light SS wear than big nicks out of alu casing. Not to mention the sapphire glass on SS models.
@vodamerc: Each to their own, I also don’t like lugging around a brick on my wrist just for aesthetic purposes. Especially considering I use it for fitness.
@[Deactivated]: I was super glad to go from SS in the earlier models to Alu due to the weight. I have the Ultra now, which is great for battery life, but it's so much bigger it gets snagged on bloody everything. Might be back to the Alu S9.
Having only owned a stainless Apple watch, I find the Aluminium too light. But personal preference I guess.
Scratches easily? The SS display is sapphire glass so scratch resistance is much better then the gorilla glass of the aluminum. Stainless casing may scuff, though with the silver variant you can polish these out.

I'm on series 5 aluminium and kinda want any stainless steel gold series 6 or above for the blood oxygen. But all the used ones are so expensive whenever I check eBay, besides ones with cracked screens.
