  • Good price, Origin wouldn’t budge to go to those prices unfortunately

Looks like the recession is finally here. Electricity and gas prices are plummeting, renewables are almost nearly about to possibly kick in, and the cost-of-living crisis will soon be a distant memory. Australia’s future is surreally good

      You're surely kidding, right?

      • I wasn’t, but now you have me doubting my conviction

  • +1

Wow - what special Stonecutters code did you use for that one!.

I switched to origin and in an attempt to retain me they offered a deal that was on par with origin. I informed them of the origin rates and this what they came back with to beat them. It definitely seems targeted, but if you know I can get it, you should be able to convince someone else on the phone that you should get it too.

  • -1

Might be time to call ActewAGL and ask to be switched from my current plan to this.

I'd considered swtiching to Origin for their flat rate plan but the savings (based on my historical usage) after factoring in the disconnection/reconnection fees in switcing retailers didn't seem worth the hassle.

    • +1

factoring in the disconnection/reconnection fees in switcing retailers didn't seem worth the hassle.

What fees? There MAY be a contract exit fee but there are no switching fees afaik.

    • +1

Not an expert, but I believe those disconnection/reconnection fees are related to services being entirely stopped or restarted (not for supplier switches). Perhaps based on major electrical works being carried out, or deciding to cut yourself from the grid, at a guess.

  • 1300 887 138 is a Local Rate Number registered under the name of Alpha One Ceiling Cleaning…

Who made. contact first, you, or ACTew?

    • Mike is a bit of an all-rounder

    • Mike by email.

  • Thanks OP, time for me to get on the blower.

I'm currently with ActewAGL on their "Plus Plan", which is also cheaper than the ones advertised on their website. They only offered it to me after I had a whinge about how much worse the deal they were proposing was than the one I was rolling off.

My last bill indicated that the Plus Plan has a supply charge of 83 cents per day, and a consumption charge of 19.4 cents per kWh. So if ActewAGL won't play ball with the superior offer in OP's post, it could be worth seeing whether they'll meet halfway with the Plus Plan.

  • Im on the phone and ACTEW say they have never heard of this plan?
    ACTEW's Power Up plan is:
    32% off the reference
    5.5c solar FIT
    Supply charge 77 cents/day

    • Incredible value!

    • Hopefully the OP will explain.

  • +1

If you have solar you might be better off with their secret "Solar Power Electricity Plan" with an 18c FIT: https://www.reddit.com/r/canberra/comments/12d7oo2/comment/j…

Phone numbers and email are legit. I've used them a few months ago to get a better deal. It's effectively details to contact their rententions team directly rather than going through the normal call centre.

  • Do you need to sign up for both electricity and gas to get these rates?

    • +1

I hit them up for electricity only and they gave it to me. Just give them a call and see how you go.

  • Great price!
Have to give them a call.

    • +2

      Ask for Mike

      • Thanks! Will do.

  • Good prices but this seems like a targeted offer

  • +2

Anyone manage to get this? Would like to know if this is available on with the 38off reference pricing on TOU .

  • +1

Just did called them up yesterday and asked about original friend and family offer so they offered 32% off reference price, nowhere did they mentioned this plan at all, wondering where do you get this plan in the first place?

    • Direct email to me.

  • This plan worked better for me with Solar:

    • About how much solar are you exporting a day? Seems like I'm getting about 20-30kWh a day lately.
The Peak energy costs look crazy high after being on 21.857 c/kWh general usage with Origin.

And do you know if those kWh and MJ prices are pre-discounts, or after?

      • +1

Same, at around 20 to 30 on average. The peak cost looks really high but to my suprise once you do the numbers, this turns out to be the best value. AGL energy sales team also did a 1 year analysis of our usage and this plan came as the best deal in our circumstances. These prices are after discount and with GST.

  • It gets better, Origin just contacted me, and in order to retain me have offered me:

    Daily supply charge = 69.95 cents/day
    General usage rates = 17.32 cents/kWh

If you are with Origin already, I suggest you ring them and ask to put on the "Origin Go Variable - Retention" Plan.
