Don't officeworks require a product to be 'in-stock' to do a price match? Not that they have checked in the past but that would rule out any product during pre-order as it's not in stock.

    • +6

Yes it needs to be in stock

    • +1

      I thought so too but that's 128GB

      • Whoops! You are correct.

  • +1

    lol. "out of stock"?
because it's not released, or the smallest production run for an iphone ever

  • +12

RRP $1700, and it's not even the top end…

Didn't think it would happen but I guess I'm going to see hyperinflation happen during my lifetime.

    • +3

Good for real estate buy buy buy

    • -4

+ed For that price, I got #1 Galaxy S23 Ultra 512GB with extra $500 bonus.
iPhone is comparatively old-fashioned, can't even Fold (5) & cannot defend itself with masculine S-pen ;)
This one has USB-C 2 data connector, as slow as the iPhone14 max pro & older :(

      • -3

stop trying to justify your decision to buy a Samsung coz its cheaper and the second best option, not everyone cares about S-pen
those who buy iphones and pay the premium know and have tried the difference. this is coming from a 10 year Samsung user

        • +1

I've used both, i wouldn't call it second best. I prefer Samsung. But if you are all in the Apple ecosystem already, you have to bend over and accept it.

          • -3

@cyrax83: I've used both, Samsung 10 years and iPhone 3 years i would call Samsung second, (android second). im not in the ecosystem, iphone is just a better overall phone, i hate mac OS i use windows and i only have an ipad which really does not put me in the ecosystem
Samsung fanboy: But bUt buT 200X zOoM :/ buT S-pEN

            • +4

@Roe Jogan: It's all personal preference. To say Samsung is second best is just being a fanboy and only just an opinion. Look at the base model iPhone 15 - only 60hz at that price? Eesh. USB2 is a joke as well

            • +2

@Roe Jogan: 10x zoom is a pretty useful feature. I upgraded from the s20fe to a s22 ultra a few months ago.

For me, it's much of a muchness. The 10x optical zoom is probably my favourite feature. The S-pen is useful, but I could live without it. I probably use it about once a week.

As for which is better, iPhone probably does have the edge in terms of out of box experience with Pixel Android coming in pretty close. Samsung OOB is a bit of a mess with duplicated apps but easy enough to clean up.

Android has pretty much limitless customisation which is a double edged sword as less technical users can mess up their devices.

Many users who rant against Android also seem to have only used the low end.

Just like everything else, make an assessment as to what you actually need it want. Don't buy beyond your means.

Apples does make good products but the pricing kind of sucks in my opinion and the lack of cheaper options in many ways goes against some of the goals of the company.

IMO, it would be nice to see more competition on the Software and hardware side, especially when it comes to laptops.

              • @ihfree: funny an hour ago my comment had 4+ upvotes, the OP fanboy probably texted some of his friends to down vote what i said about Samsung lmao this is so pathetic and hilarious

                • +1

@Roe Jogan: I haven't down voted your comments but blanket statements like "I hate" or " is just better" are highly subjective especially without reasons.

iPhones are what they are - even if there is better hardware out there or more features - they are unlikely to change due to ecosystem, software. Different aspects have different values to different people.

It's an emotional topic for many so it's impossible to have a rational conversation.

Ignoring camera, phones are pretty damn good these days and honestly, IMO, a $300-$400 phone would be fine for most people.

          • +3

@spiff: Not just any Samsung user - a self described IT Pro and visionary… who puts most of their vision into criticising Apple by shilling Samsung and spruiking their s23 ultra.

          • -1

@spiff: just another butt hurt fanboy in an apple deal talking sh!t. we dont care about you or your s23

      • +1

Gee, I’d hate to be stuck with the slow S23 SoC! How embarrassing!

      • +2

God, fanbois are annoying. We don't need the S23 Ultra spec sheet on every iPhone post.

        Fold (5)

Not mature, not needed by most.

        USB-C 2 data connector

Heard of cloud backup? Data is rarely transferred off phones via USB these days.

        with masculine S-pen

Lol. Tell us more about your feelings of inadequacy.

    • High inflation is good if you hold assets, like most of the political class.

    • +2

I don’t think one product being expensive = hyperinflation

    • +2

Where have you been over the last decade lol.

    • I guess I'm going to see hyperinflation happen during my lifetime.

So do you ever wonder how it happens and how you should vote to try and prevent it in future? Because most people seem to not join the dots on stuff like this…

    • Tell me you have no idea about economics without telling me you have no idea about economics

  • Doesn't anyone think it's because AU sells for too much?
Let's check the price of iphone 15 in other countries.

$200 more expensive than in some countries….

    • +2

Yeah but then you’d have to live in another country 🤢

    • What's the SKU

    • +5

$200 more expensive than in some countries….

You have to be careful because some other countries do not include the sales tax in the advertised price. In the US and Europe this can be 20%+ on top of the sticker price

    • +9

The us price before tax is US$799 which is AU$1242.
Australian price is $1499 but that’s including tax, so $1362 pre tax.

      Australian premium is under 10%.
The US market is about 15 times as big.

The pricing difference is not outrageous.

      • +3

Also consumer law here gives you 2 years warranty

  • I am curious to know if anyone managed to price beat with Officeworks and thinking about paying with 20x points gift cards.

    • -5

      Joe Rogan is that you?

      • -1

some lgbqts+ supporters had to down vote

        • Haha, quite the imagination.

Don't worry, it's just a colour. It won't have an impact on your sexuality.

          The alphabet loopies

  • is there a pro model?

  • How is Amazon able to knock off 200?

    Is it Aussie stock?

    • It’s a pricing error. They incorrectly priced the 256GB at the price of the 128GB.

Amazon will most likely ship it out. The stock comes directly from Apple to Amazon’s warehouses.

  • Similar to what Catch/Amazon had last year for the iPhone 14 256GB- $1,260

I bought a iPhone 13 mini for less than $690 last year, I'm just laughing at this tragedy.

      • +2

iPhones are not for poor people

        • +2

There's not exactly a high barrier to entry for an iPhone. There are refurbs, discounted phone plans, etc.

So many people in questionable financial situations still have the latest iPhone.

  • is it worth getting 15 Pro instead of 14 or 13 Pro? Upgrading my missus' phone from an old android to iPhone but confused if we should be going for 15

    • +2

There is little difference between the 14 Pro and 15 Pro, however if you're getting new, might as well get the 15 pro. Alternatively you could scoop up a good refurbished or used 14 pro

      • Thank you! might as well go for 15 as they last quite a long time and plus the new one has titanium body right!

        • +1

Yeah definitely! The price difference is marginal especially when you consider most people use this every day, for hours at a time. The titanium finish looks amazing and I think you cannot go wrong with the 15 pro :)

        • The 15 doesn't have titanium, only the 15 Pro features that.

  • Officeworks don’t price match pre-order items

    • aren't the price matches those listed on Bing Lee?
