Hey all.
Long time lurker and this is my first deal post.

Have been looking at all the current iPhone pre-order deals and Vodafone is offering pretty good trade in value.
For all new iPhone 15 models, if you trade in your current phone, you get an additional bonus $150 AUD Credit on top of your trade in value.

For someone like me who still has an iPhone X 64 GB - Vodafone is offering $310 AUD for trade in, which is 63% more value then going through apple.
Telstra offers $150 AUD for the same model.
Apple offers UP TO $190 AUD for the same model.

The new iPhone 15 Pro Max ends up being 52.46$ AUD per month /36 months given a trade in of iPhone X 64 GB.

My new job pays $40 per fortnight for my phone plan which covers that and majority of the sim plan so if you happen to be in a similar situation then this deal makes sense.

How anyone is still on Voda is beyond me. Every single person i know whinges but is still on it. So many better options.

Perhaps they are in poor Vodafone coverage area, but get sucked into deals like this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/800052, and then whinge for the next 24 months about their consequences of their own actions.

    • I've also always been surprised at how many are locked into long contracts. It's so much cheaper buying a phone outright and getting a 12 month prepaid simm. Even more now since people are now upgrading less frequently.

If you can , not everyone can afford your option.

    • Living in Sydney and occasional travel up and down the east coast and I have no issues with them at all, that being said most of my travel must be in their coverage zones.

Tbh I've often noticed I've had far more usable service than friends with Optus in a lot of places, they're especially great if you travel internationally a lot too, their $5 a day international roaming is still one of the better options in my experience.

    • Some people can't afford to pay outright for a phone. Yes they could probably go for a cheaper model that would be ok for them but still. If they want something considered decent these days, some can't afford $1000 on the spot.

In general people have a pretty irresponsible approach to their phones and what they spend.

I'm on Vodafone. It's fine unless I'm in a rural area outside of town. Which seems to be the case for my friends no matter what Sim they have in their phones. I got a pixel 6 pro for half price. Seemed like a good deal. Don't regret it.

  • They don’t have option for outright?

    • Break the contract and you’l have to pay the remaining months for the phone. That’s what I did before because of the poor signal. Way back 2015.

      • i think you also pay for the rest of the sim plan too.

        • No you don't. That's mental. People always say this. I've never come across a contract where you have to pay out a contract if you leave it. You pay for the device they gave you. What on earth would the point of leaving it be if your still gonna pay for the entire thing?

          • @fishnchipsncoke: i would love some clarity on this. because if what you say is true i am might really get that other 1000$ off at apple store deal, that way i would be paying only 300$ for IPhone 15 pro and cancel 24 month plan after couple months.

              @V003: For that 1000$ offer -

Early Exit Fees (EEF) apply to your plan as it is a 24 month contract. Your EEF will be calculated at 50% of your monthly plan fee x months left on your contract. Plus, if you signed up to a 24 month BYOD Plan from 20 September 2021, there will also be an Early Exit Fee on the $1,000 or $650 credit, based on the full credit amount divided by the 24 month contract term and multiplied by the months remaining on your contract term.

              • @karseeeejaaaa: thanks for the information, that deal is not worth it then.

              • @karseeeejaaaa: Nope. Spoke to rep inside Vodafone store and plan is month to month so no early termination fee if you leave early. Just have to pay balance of device. I think some info online are out of date. Best chat to an agent or go to a store.

Only downside is if you do a trade in, the trade in value is applied as a credit to your plan. If you leave early you forfeit the balance of the credit.

  • If only telstra has this offer. Guess have to stick with jb hifi gift card via telstra 🤣🤣

    • telstra offer $350 bonus credit on top of trade-ins

  • Does this stack with the $1k off promo from Apple Store ?

    • -1

      No

      • Why not, trade-in credit is on top of the offer, so should be working

        • +1

1k off is apple store. This deal is vodafone shop

          • -2

@Kanjus: You still are in a Vodafone contract, the trade-in should work

            • @ozshopp3r: You can trade in your current iPhone with the store selling you the new phone. You can't buy your phone from Apple Store, and trade in your phone with Vodafone.

  • PS: The Trade-In is powered by Asurion, which is the same company behind Samsung Trade-In program.

  • Vodafone unfortunately
In the better part of a decade i feel their network has actually gone backwards in reception

  • +2

Getting iPhone 15 but getting Nokia 8210 reception.

  • Telstra has a $350 bonus trade in credit though?

    • subject to the model you trade in. Try to actually go through the process and see for your self.

  • What is 1k off from Apple Store?

  • Did anyone try this shopback Vodafone deal?

    https://www.shopback.com.au/vodafone

Its mentioned as 66% cashback but not sure how it works

  • Is it a good deal I can get $270 bonus for se gen 2 and battery health 71%? If sell private 100-140 max

    • Yes.
      71% battery health is questionable.

  • Wait just realized vodafone back on SB and CR finally. Good to see back. May need it churn new 5G connection if they dont match up the price to current $70/month or my old $85/month plan at end of year.
