        • The conspiracy kookas don't need to drink coolaid anymore. They put it in syringes now instead and mislabel it "vaccines." ;-D

  • +8

    Not a deal.

  • +13

This is my second downvote ever in nearly 10 years of Ozbargain but after reading their website, reading about the founder, the company, the undisclosed religious ties and the free ticket terms; I just can't support this organisation or the movie, even if it's "free". Also not a fan of the lack of transparency with the 'pay it forward' money, the name itself feels like its preying on people's guilt.

  • I saw this post this morning and then watched the movie 3 hours later as my gf had already bought tickets. Overall I liked it.

    I hope I didn't ruin anyone's day

  • +8

Commenting so I can neg vote. This movie feeds into the conspiracy vortex and anybody pushing it as a "must watch" should be questioned on their motivations.

    • +3

      Ditto

    • Yes the coming Disney movie about a teenage girl who f___s satan and gets pregnant will be much better, and no-one should question the motives of people promoting that. :-D

      • +2

        Based on a true story?

  • +7

Claim a ticket and don't see it :-) that's what I'm doing. Save someone from a brainwashing!

    • -3

Classic dildo waver move…What pronouns do you go by?

      • +2

        All of them.

    • +4

Lol, the EGO on you. You’re really saving humanity. Coz chumps out there can’t think for themselves…. unlike you ….even though you haven’t seen it. My hero. Haha!

    • +1

What were the parts of the movie you didn't like in particular?

  • +5

Thanks! Top movie, would gladly pay it forward for those who are willing to watch it. Just a heads up it can be quite a confronting movie.
ps don't let either side influence your opportunity to go watch it - it's free so you if it's not your cup of tea then you can walk out.

  • So politics and personal opinions aside.
Has anyone been able to book it with the code?
I have the code and barcode email sent, but to book online you still need a pin number?

Unless theyre just wanting you to rock up and just take whatever seat is avaialble at the time?

    • Unless theyre just wanting you to rock up and just take whatever seat is avaialble at the time?

Ah, I don't think finding a seat will be a problem.

    • Did you end up getting the ticket? I can only get the whatsapp code.. email option doesn't work. It comes with a message that it can't bought

  • +4

Conspiracy trash to boost ticket sales so they can claim full theatres. Not a deal.

    • +2

Thanks for that. I didn't know child trafficking doesn't really happen.

  • +4

Most of the negs here won't have actually seen the film. It's just a movie about a guy that rescues some kids from a trafficking organisation. It doesn't bad mouth anyone on any political spectrum or try to convince you to think anything for or against a group of people (apart from the obvious).

I honestly don't know why this film copped all the flack it did, it was just a low budget version of Taken with a bit more parts that make you think about how bad this sort of stuff is around the world.

    • +6

It doesn't matter if people have seen the film to have a negative vote, the same way people can leave a negative vote on Qantas, Harvey Norman, etc deals without purchasing. An issue with the seller, maker, whoever involved, is a valid reason on here to leave a negative vote.

If you dont know why this film copped it though there's four pages of comments to read of various reasons.

      • +2

If someone has a legitimate issue with the studio or producers, that’s fine. There are plenty of negative comments about the film itself though and my point is, I’ll bet those commenters have not seen the film.

      • +2

It’s not actually the negging part, but more about people crying about it even though they haven’t watched it. Fascinating human behaviour.

        • +6

Yes, fascinating human behaviour that people have opinions.

          • +1

@Gehirn: How do you have an opinion about a movie you haven't seen ?

            • +2

@infinite: A movies trailer is the first tool to sway opinion, and further the falsehoods perpetuated by some of its crew, the character of others that promote it, its lack of contribution to any organisations, the mass review campaigns, itself not knowing whether it wants to be fact or fiction, the pay it forward scheme, the inaccuracies as stated by other organisations and law enforcement agencies, etc.

Really gives me a solid opinion that I dont need to see any more of the film as I already have awareness of the topic.

              • +1

@Gehirn: So to sum it up, you gave this a neg for no valid reason.

                • +5

@infinite: Issue with the maker and product is a valid reason in the ozbargain voting guidelines, but hey if you think it's not valid report it.

                  • +1

@Gehirn: Yes, as stated before, you gave this a neg for no valid reason.

You haven't even seen the movie, either.

                    • +8

                      @infinite: You left a neg for "Mahindra XUV700 AX7 from $36,990 Drive-away @ Mahindra Dealers".

Do you have one? By your logic you can't comment on it

          • +4

@Gehirn: But you have no opinions. You simply repeat the narrative and it’s so predictable. Can someone even rate a movie if they haven’t seen it? Apparently you can. Like I said fascinating

            • +3

@Cusack: Fascinating. What's the narrative today? You can research and have different opinions? Or you have to blindly agree to everything?

          • @Gehirn: Well, wrong opinions, but yeah - they still qualify as opinions. I suppose. ;-D

  • +1

Has anyone claimed a voucher for a village movie session? where do you put the code and were you also sent a pin?

    • Also wanting to know.
I didnt get a PIN either.

I think you take the code or barcode to the counter at the cinemas

  • +5

    What an embarrassing post.

  • +4

Fascinating how the establishment and their media tentacles influence peoples to the point where seeing an anti pedo movie is seen as some kind of unsavoury thing. Critical thinking is dead, people are sheep baa’ing along to anything they are told to think.

    • +2

Fascinating indeed. Ban, punish or mock anything that might question their belief. …. It’s like a cult isn’t it. Critical thinking isn’t dead, it’s just NOT allowed.

      • +11

Critical thinking is dead? I have seen more critical thinking in the negative vote's with a range of critcisms and sources on their claims, yet comments like these just say people hate the movie because they're sheep, paedos, etc, and can't comprehend someone criticising the movie and those behind it doesn't relate to their stance on the subject matter.

        • +2

Calling paedo is too far. But definitely sheep. Criticise the movie I don’t care. But the ones here negging, criticising, getting emotional ‘without’ watching it, that’s NOT critical thinking. …..that’s a well trained herd

          • @Cusack: Dismissing criticisms that revolve around the movie that wouldn't be resolved by watching the film seems like a lack of critical thinking to me.

            • +2

@Gehirn: There’s an equal amount of positive reviews. For some reason you choose to repeat negative ones only. Why? ….Maybe read up on critical thinking a bit?

              • @Cusack: You're the one saying the movie has positive movie reviews so it should be trusted and to ignore any differing view.

It could be a great movie but that would change very little in regards to the criticisms about issues around it.

                • +2

@Gehirn: I’m saying there’s positive AND negative reviews. Both must be considered ‘without’ bias. By looking at the blind negs here, that’s very hard to do

    • Critical thinking is dead, people are sheep baa’ing along to anything they are told to think.

Give me a minute, just finishing up my 10/10 review on rotten tomatoes for this movie…

Done, sorry, what were you saying?

      • +1

        10/10? High praise indeed.

    • +3

Seems like you’ve completely missed the point, it’s actual critical thinking that is causing the controversy surrounding this movie - and it has very little to do with the movie itself.

  • -2

I see the leftist paedo apologists are out in force on this thread. Dont go and see it because you are a white Nazi conspiracy therorist if you do.

Hey leftists..buy a box of tissues and go watch your constant loop of cuties instead..we know your agenda

    • +8

Where was the backlash to Spotlight then?

    • +4

idk what this whole "cuties" thing is…but pro tip, it's cringey af and you should definitely stop saying it. it's 100% not landing the way you think it is, and in turn, making YOU look like some kind of peado.

      but hey, free country!

  • +2

Might as well put it on YouTube or free to air ?

  • +8

    Way too expensive.

    • +8

I want to steal your comment to justify my neg, cheers.

  • +3

Movie about child trafficking funded by a pedophile. No thanks.

    • +4

      Thanks for lying:

"The latest incident: Fabian Marta, ONE OF MANY individuals who helped fund the movie after Disney passed on distribution, was charged on July 21 with accessory to child kidnapping, according to the Missouri Courts website."

    • Which producer of this film is a pedophile?

  • Visit angel.com/blog/sound-of-freedom to read more about how you can join the fight to end child trafficking.

Just whine a lot and boycott chocolate. (Some think that's all it takes.)

  • wow OZB is so American woke. I hardly believe it's an Australian website and suppose to only has Australian users.

    • +2

Human trafficking is a global issue.

    • +1

Thousands of Australian children are trafficked every year in Australia, it's tens of thousands in bigger countries.

Why would you pretend like child trafficking is not a global problem?

      • +1

Thousands of Australian children are trafficked every year in Australia

while I don't disagree the issue exists, and any more than 0 is abhorrent, where have you found studies showing that there are multiple thousand children in Australia being subject to trafficking?

        • -2

The Australian Federal Government's Institute of Criminology.

Here's a direct link to their publications where they cite the recorded numbers from the Australian State and Federal police: https://www.aic.gov.au/sites/default/files/2020-05/sb_human_…

Surprised you couldn't do a simple google search on the matter and find it yourself. It's the first result in google.

          • +1

@infinite: Where in that does it list child numbers?
That article lists estimated total numbers and provides no breakdown. The world child isn't even mentioned with regards to Australian numbers, and only once in terms of a summary of victimation rates being higher for woman and children.

Surprised you couldn't do a simple google search

I did, read that article and it didn't actually show the numbers you claimed, hence asked for some followup from the person clearly more informed.

Considering you then linked to the same 'first google hit' article which doesn't actually illustrate this, I retract my previous assumption that you were informed

            • +1

@SBOB: Don't bother SBOB. One of many instances in this comment section where Infinite lies about what is contained in a link.

              • -1

@Gehirn: Go ahead and tell us where the Australian Federal Government were lying about human trafficking in their own report about human trafficking: https://www.aic.gov.au/sites/default/files/2020-05/sb_human_…

                Absolute clown world.

                • @infinite: You're a clown. Noone is denying human trafficking.
You're claiming "Thousands of Australian children are trafficked every year in Australia" yet the report does not state that at all.

            • -1

@SBOB: LOL, imagine the absolute clown world you have to live in to be in complete denial of publicly stated figures from the Australian Government's own criminal data.

You are a literal science denier.

              • @infinite:

                LOL

                agreed
"Estimating the dark figure of human trafficking and slavery victimisation in Australia"
"it is estimated that the number of human trafficking and slavery victims in Australia in 2015–16 and 2016–17 was between 1,300 and 1,900"
"In the case of modern slavery – encompassing human trafficking, slavery and slavery-like practices such as forced marriage and forced labour"

so again, in your clownworld science denier stance, exactly how does this article show there are (in the words of a true critical thinker) "Thousands of Australian children are trafficked every year in Australia"
You do realise there is more to that report than just human trafficking right (let alone the subset of that which would be children)?

again, and any more than 0 is abhorrent, but making up stupid statistics seems like the opposite of "spreading awareness about child trafficking"

You are a literal science denier.

I'm not sure you've shown to be qualified to make such a claim

  • +11

This movie has been out for weeks now so the distributor would be on the end of the sliding scale and most of the ticket sale money would be going to the theatres at this stage - probably around 70-80%. So if you want to support your local theatre and just book a free ticket even if you didn't attend it's not a bad way to do that. The only issue is that you'd have to provide your email and contact details to a pretty creepy company that pedals in a lot of religious nonsense. Definitely a deal breaker for me. Won't even get into the QAnon crap and how the protagonist of this movie and his real life counterpart couldn't be two more separate and different people. Imagine they did a bio-pic on Albanese and essentially dramatized it in that he now could fly and shoot lasers out of his eyes - that's more realistic than how they've dramatized this thing.

Also, just remember that Mormons tithe even with their companies and that the Mormon church is not only the richest church on the planet but one that has a long and sordid history of protecting pedophiles. The Mormon church has a policy where they have bishops interview children behind closed doors asking questions about whether they've had any sexual thoughts or done anything sexual. Quizzing a 12 year old child about whether they've masturbated is just creepy as shit and makes pretty good breeding ground for people to groom children. So every dollar you spend on this movie will have part of it going back to the church which will no doubt go to help enable more child grooming.

    • This is good advice. Angel will simply keep the money if the tickets aren't claimed. Reading cinemas aren't exactly a charity but it's better than keeping it in the cult at SLC.

  • +8

This deal sounded too good to be true. Who gives away free movies? So, I started suspecting this would be a Christian promotion movie; I was right. Angel Studios is based in Utah in the Bible Belt of the USA. All their movies are about Christianity. Nice to have all that funding off the ‘prosperity’ of profits of stolen assets of native peoples. It’s propaganda movie about Christianity, in the face of all the negative publicity that came out of the Catholic Churches pedophile rackets. There are many more people fighting child sex abuse every day, who are not Christian. Err, because it’s evil on a human level. So give this movie a miss if you’re against Christian hypocrisy and self promotion

    • You do know that Catholicism is separate from Christianity practiced in the "bible belt" right (more of Baptists and other protestant denominations).
I'd say the Baptists will be happy that the catholic church is tainted with pedophilia (and rightly so). Just my 2 cents.

I am concerned by this movie because a lot of the usual crazies like those supporting anti vax and other conspiracy theories have jumped in support of this film.

  • +10

Why are we talking about this when we still haven't stopped Kony?

  • +5

On paper the movie's premise sounds great. We need to smash child trafficking.

On the other hand, many of the crazies and extremists are jumping in support of this film. Should that be concerning? What stake do they have here?

  • +9

A QAnon cooker movie. I'll be giving this one a wide birth.

    • What part of the movie did you think was QAnon related ?

      • -1

More sealion tactics from sealion account.

Don't bother with this person. Cannot be taken seriously.

  • +6

Cooker nonsense. Bring your tinfoil hat. Whatever you do, don't upset Stinky Brad.

    • What part of the movie did you think was QAnon related ?

      • Where did killergreely say anything about QAnon?

        • He is an annoying sealion here to waste people's time. He knows exactly what is going on but wants people to waste time explaining basic easily searchable concepts to him which he will endlessly nitpick under the guise of curiosity.

Never fall for these dumb traps.

  • Jeffrey Epstine committed suicide in a max security prison while the cameras were broken. 🤔🤪

    • What role did he play in the movie?

      • He provided royal clients.

        • And posthumously created a royal pain in the arse for Randy Andy!

  • +2

this movie is too “woke“ for me sorry!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Maybe you could try to slept through it?

  • +3

Looking at all these pointless comments, I will add one myself:

It doesn't matter what you say because it's real and happening on a wide spread scale. Just be a good man and help spread the word.

    • +2

      Agreed.

    • +6

Isn't this the equivalent of keyboard warrior and virtue signalling?

What good is spreading the word if you don't actually do something towards ending modern slavery? Watching a movie will certainly NOT be enough.

  • How did an actual NPC post cause this much of a dumpster fire in the comments?

Happy that the word "woke" still sounds cringe everytime its mentioned.

    • -1

No one is debating being woke is cringe.

      • -1

No one is debating being woke is cringe

Seeing the film is the first step in spreading awareness

Like virtue signalling by watching a movie and pretending like you're helping some cause?
Woke leftists with their pointless virtue signalling.

        • -1

Being that you were busted complaining about the movie then forced to admit you never watched it, aren't you just criticizing yourself ?

  • +7

Is this really still a thing? This mockumentary has been debunked and is condemned by real law enforcement. It detracts from the actual reality of human trafficking. The "actor" believes trump is the second coming…in real life.
Spreading lies and misinformation is not a deal.

    • +2

What ever gave you the impression this was a documentary ?

      • Classic sealion.

        • You'd have to be pretty susceptible to leftist conspiracy theories spread on social media, to have ever thought the movie was a documentary.
