Bonus $500 Trade-in Credit for Purchase of Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra @ Samsung

750

Saw this being discussed on page 15 of previous Samsung deal so thought it warrants its own post.

People are saying it currently does not work due to Samsung website issue, but it will be fixed later today.

Credit to u/supersour's Samsung deal

no $300 off RRP mentioned anywhere on the webpage anymore

    • Yup, JB has removed the sale too. Looks like it ended yesterday

    • +5

Was about to mention the same.

Overall lower than previous offer of $300 off RRP + $300 Trade-In Bonus

  • +3

Samsung removed the $300 discount off RRP (e.g. s23 ultra 512gb used to be $1949. Now price back up to $2249).

    • +12

This deal is inferior without $$$ off RRP

      • +2

If I recalled correctly, the previous offer was $300 off RRP + $300 Trade-In Bonus (public offer).

The targeted code just increased the Trade-In Bonus from $300 -> $500.

        • Thanks for the correction

  • +1

    No joy for TCL

    • Use the app, trade in a rubbish pair of bluetooth headphones

      • Can you use any Bluetooth headphones or only specific ones?

        • +1

Doesn't even need to be bluetooth. I'm planning to send in wired headphones.

          • @CodeXD: If they were only $1 trade in, surely we don't actually have to send them? Would rather not waste everyone's time.

            • @miicah: Then asurion get to charge you a fee for not sending them back.

            • @miicah: The app says they will deduct the trade in value $1 + $30 fee if I don't send it in.

              • @CodeXD: Ah I must have misread that, I thought it said they would only take the $1 from my credit card.

          • @CodeXD: btw should we wait for an email? i got a recycle paunch sent in with the s23+ is that it? where do i send it?

            • @Roe Jogan: Yep, Asurion should send an email when there is confirmation you have received your new device. I think it might take a day or 2 from when it is actually delivered due to when Samsung updates the order summary.

Alternatively, you can go to your email from Asurion and force them to send you the email with label.

              • @CodeXD: by any chance would it go to the non primary email, like promotions or social? its been one week since delivery and i have not received it, what title do they use?

                • +1

@Roe Jogan: If you check your original email from them with your trade ID, you can also trigger it yourself

If you would like to send in your original device to us before you receive your new Samsung Galaxy device, you can log in to the Trade Up Portal to download your e-Parcel label.

The email with eParcel label is:
subject: Samsung Trade-Up: It's time to send us your device
                  from: [email protected]

                  • @CodeXD: thanks for the clarification, yeh i definitely have not received that email in any of my tabs nor spam folder. so i wont chase it up as im in no hurry.
I did the wire headphone trade in $1. im assuming they caught on and don't want that trash. maybe they are only sending the "its time to send us your device" to people who traded actual phones? time will tell.

                    • @Roe Jogan: Nah, they definitely still need you to send it in lol

Log onto your Samsung account and check your order status. I've received the S23 but still says 'on the way'. Asurion relies on Samsung to provide them the 'delivered' status before sending the email.

                      • @CodeXD: i just got the email, printed out the paper and stuck it on with old HTC headphones from a phone from 11 years ago, it says i need to take it to the post office, but there is a post box at the end of my street? I can just drop it in there no?

                        • @Roe Jogan: You do need to take it to AusPost, the email from Asurion is very clear about this step:

Take your original device and this email to your nearest Australia Post outlet.

I brought the headphones and label to post office for them to scan, and they got a satchel bag from the shelve to put the headphones in. No payment on my part so must come up steps when they scan the label.

                          • @CodeXD: yeh very annoying, i just checked with chat, that is the process you need to take it in person..

      • buy one from $2 shop and send straight to samsung or drop off at store.

  • SU23 256 get $700 trade-in value but jb gives $900.

  • It might be a good deal to some but can't get over the previous deal 😢

  • +1

Chat confirmed this was the fixed deal now.

Also it means the s23 128gb is back to $538.20 with $1 earphone trade in and stacked codes

    • Sorry but, how? Instructions aren't clear to me as I've never done this.

      • Same as in previous deal except no bonus $200

        • I was probably unclear in asking how. I need a loyalty email to get 10%, another $100 voucher via the same email & then $50 via news letter sign up. I got that part, but just to confirm; you're saying I could potentially get the S23 Ultra for $538.20 with stacked codes?
Or, I'd get that amount in credit to go towards the phones overall price?

    • -5

How to get 10% off code as well as 100$ off code?

      • +3

Man atleast try to read post …It has all details….

    • How many hoops do I have to jump to get the S23 128GB for $538

      • +1

Firstly you will need a time machine to go back 1.5 months when the deal was available.

  • +2

I come here to make sure I got the better deal XD

  • See this comment for why I don't think you can rely on cashrewards tracking or being approved even if it tracks.

  • +10

    Weak, worse than previous deals.

DO NOT SUPPORT them as deal should get better when time passes.

    • +1

Do you not support every store that doesnt always offer their cheapest sale price? You'd have to avoid almost every store in that case

  • -1

    RRP for S23U 512GB is increased, was $1949 now $2249 :(

    • Bait and switch. Dodgy Samsung

      • Ah yes, how dare Samsung have sale and now that the sale is over increase the price back up to no sale!

    • +5

$2249 is the standard RRP for the S23 Ultra 512GB; they just had a $300 off RRP promo previously.

      • +1

I was looking to get this model. Last deal was 300 off RRP and 300 tradein( or $500 tradein was targeted which I assume most of us didnt get). So it was $600 off.
This deal is 0 off RRP, 500 tradein. So $500 off therefore you are $100 worse off than the last. IF anything they should have kept $300 RRP together with $500 tradein. It would make this deal $200 better than last one. Or even with$400 tradein and kept the $300 off RRP it would be $100 better then last. As it is I will not buy.

        • The price difference is not a straight $100 worse off. The 10% off at a higher price means the 10% discount in this deal is higher than the previous one.

  • +3

Nothing wrong with my S21. I'm going to hold out for next years round of discounts when Iphone 16 is released.

  • $5 for my oppo phone haha

  • so you email [email protected] to get 10% code?

    • Yep. Since it is a loyalty code, they will also ask you for your current samsung phone's IMEI.

      • Not always they just wanted to call me to confirm but I didnt pick up but they sent the code anyway without any confirmation.

      • this wasn't my exp, i just got a short 3-5 min phone call and they emailed me the code. no IMEI or confirmation of any sort

        • how long did it take after you emailed to receive the call/code?
also where did they get your phone number from?

          • @kazer: They'll call you back. Leave your phone number in the email. Takes 5 to 10 mins for the code after they call you.

          • @kazer: They email you back asking for phone number if you dont provide it

  • +17

All these acrobatics, just to be able to buy a phone for what it should be sold for to begin with. Switched to a Pixel 7 for this reason, after years of Samsung.

    • +12

This is Ozbargain. Stacks on discount codes is what we do for fun. It's the thrill of the hunt.

      • +8

I know - been a member for a while. But it's only fun when the retailer doesn't intend for the stacking to occur, such that you end up buying things below wholesale cost. It gets less fun when you have to jump through a ton of hoops, only to still end up paying too much.

The bonus trade-in just offsets the silly markup; the newsletter codes stopped arriving for me ages ago; last time I asked for a loyalty discount, I ended up having to speak to a salesperson on commission who wouldn't discount things further.

With Samsung, the time invested isn't worth the saving anymore.

        • +2

That's a crappy experience for sure, and I can see how that would sour you on the brand. From the last deal, I traded up to an S23 (256gb) for $320 which I think is a legit killer deal compared to anything else out there… but the stars needed to align for it to be viable.

          • @Poimandres: Agree, sometimes the stars do align. Maybe I'm just getting lazy :)

        • +1

Yeah I have a lot of fatigue of shopping through what to do to just even buy the phone for a sub crazy price.

    • Agreed. So many words, don't see a clear price. Thought comments works help but I'm also done here.

  • $100 voucher via same email, or online chat? Where is this? Credit to u/closed, how do i find this?

    • +1

You can ask for $100 code from the 10% loyalty email address or from Samsung live chat (bottom right corner on https://www.samsung.com/au/)

      • +1

Thank you kind sir! Bought for the lady using other code for $100 with an iphone trade in so didn't care too much, but now I want one for myself

      • I talked to them on the live chat but I only got the $100 off not the 10% off, I also emailed [email protected] and didnt receive any response.

        • There is a new email to use [email protected] for 10% off

          • @CodeXD: Thanks heaps!!

Do you know if it works with the 10% off first purchase in the samsung shop app?

Should the email say something like: "Hi im planning on buying a new S23 Ultra and I currently have a samsung phone with the IMEI xxxxx.

I was told I could receive a coupon code from here."

            • +1

@greatguy288: Yep, that email is good to get the ball rolling.

Yes it stacks with first time Samsung shop app order too.

  • -3

Am I the only one who will happily spend over 2k on a flagship iPhone but doesn’t value a flagship Android? I just feel like there’s a plethora of options with Android and you don’t necessarily need a flagship. Perhaps I’m brainwashed.

    • +12

      plethora

      Thanks, it means a lot.

    • +15

Yes brainwash confirmed. Given apple don't even have the best cameras anymore it'd be hard to find a reason to spend over $2k on any apple phone.

      • +2

And they're charging people $1500 for a phone with a 60hz screen, 2x zoom, slow charging and usb2. Apple hardware is unquestionably overpriced, so you really gotta love that imessage and facetime!

    • Same.

  • +3

Ordered S23 Ultra 512gb Graphite 2 weeks ago for $1,103. I used the various bonuses they had on at the time. I traded in some random earphones for $1, and then sold my S20 FE 5G for $300 (the Samsung trade value for that was only $120 which was too low).

  • +7

This is worse than the last deal. They removed the $300 discount which they already had.

  • I purchased it through a previous deal. Is the previous deal better? Or is the deal now better?

    • Previous is a lot better, especially if you added th buds 2 hack.
This deal would be about $350-400? more.

      • +1

Agree, this is not a good deal compared to the one finished yesterday.

Samsung rep told me today that they will fix both $300 RRP & $500 trade-in but sneakily they took away $300 of RRP option once they fixed their website.

      • What is the buds 2 hack? Extra 10% off?

        • +1

They fixed it so no longer available. Extra 20% off, although you had to buy the buds but the 20% discount off the phone was more than the cost of the buds, except in the case of the S23 128GB and the price was basically the same but you got free buds.

      • -2

Thank you! Do you think should i buy Samsung Care plus ? for my s23 ultra? it that worth ?

        • +1

Dude…. aren't you associated with Samsung?

  • +1

I want that deal. Been trying to upgrade since the free watch bundle that never worked a few months back. These hoops to get the right price are really annoying to the point that the Samsung brand experience is horribly tarnished for me. Wasted an entire weekend and then some trying and failing to get the same deal others could on the buggy website. Staff kept saying "try in a few hours" all weekend until the promo ended. Then you don't get targeted loyalty emails and others do despite being a samsung only phone user for 10 years. Is Samsung deliberately trying to annoy me out of using their products?

  • +2

Just a reminder if you want to return the phone for the trade-in:
DO Record a unedited video showing:
    1) you have signed out of your Samsung account (i.e. remove the account lock) and then fctory reset the phone.
    2) All the conditions including there is no scracth/dents on the body/frame of the phone
    3) You have packed and sealed it in the box you're sending.
Otherwise Asurion will very likely scam you with bs reasons.

    • Having a battle with Asurion at the moment. did all of the above and they still rated the phone as NWGO despite literally a flawless device in their own photos.

No response to any emails in the last 2 weeks. Raised a case with Fair Trading and ACCC already. TIO says its not their jurisdiction but gave me a case number anyway.

I am prepared to take this to the end - but be warned people - you can be as prepared as humanly possible but Asurion will still screw you over - guarenteed

      • If you're gonna make up an abbreviation at least expand it once

        • NWGO - Non Wanky Government Organisation? 🤷

        • the abbreviation wasn't made up, Asurion gives gradings and one of theirs is NWGO - Not in Good Working Order

    • On the other flipside of it, I have traded in three phones with Asurion so far over the last 3 years or so. Have luckily not had any issues. Just in case anyone else is wondering if these trade ins actually work.

That being side, I think I will be following the above instructions next time to avoid any screw ups.

  • Have you even confirmed the codes stack and they havent fixed it?

    • These codes have always stacked and I believe they are made to be stackable.

There was a 15% code mentioned in previous thread that was purposely made not stackable so I think if Samsung wants to stop it they can.

  • +1

Be careful with Samsung's return policy, the phone needs to be sealed in original case, they do not accept open box return, unlike Google and Apple.

  • +8

Just for reference, the previous deal that just expired had these prices if you had the Bonus $500 trade in code with $1 trade item, 10% loyalty, $100 via chat, $50 Newsletter
    S23 Ultra 256GB - $833
    S23 Ultra 512GB - $1103

If you added the buds 2 to cart, these are the prices including the buds 2 were
    S23 Ultra 256GB - $736
    S23 Ultra 512GB - $952

    This deal would make it:
    S23 Ultra 256GB - $1104 = ($1949 x 0.9) - 500 - 100 - 50
    S23 Ultra 512GB - $1374 = ($2249 x 0.9) - 500 - 100 - 50

    • Adding buds 2 makes it cheaper???

      • It did in previous deal but not in this one.

  • Can someone please help me on How do I get the 10% loyalty code?
