Not only are the "SRP" obviously WAY overinflated, the discounted price aren't great either…

    Plus it's COTD…

  • +1

Prices are definitely not that good, and a strange composition of hardware selection. They got 8GB RAM for some, and 32GB for the rest. 32GB is overkill.

They picked a i5-3770 non-overclockable, and combined it with a 4GB GT630 for some reason. Such a waste of potential. 1TB HDDs, no SSDs for first 3 systems.

    Meh.

I would select smarter parts and build them myself and end up with a better system for the same money or less. These systems are aimed at dummies who don't understand hardware or how to pick the right parts or build them.

    • all of COTD's deals are aimed at dummies

      • And i was about to buy the MOST EXPENSIVE one…

        Thanks for saving me :p

  • These Systems are overpriced and they are not even complete Desktop systems with monitors and keyboard/mouse/Speakers

This reminds me of those Parents who buy a PC for their kid to play games on and when the kid comes back telling them, hey mum… all my games run really slow like a slid show the parent replies.. but it has 4Gb Video card and 1TB Hard drive how can it run slow!!

"I wouldn't wipe my arse on a GTX630 Videocard lol its slower then most 4 year old mid range video cards!" that can be had for $30 second hand

    • Hmm, i also seem to be having that problem…

How do i make it faster? :p

    From Umart:

    Intel Core i7 3770 LGA1155 CPU 3.4Ghz 8Mb Cache Ivy Bridge
    Asrock H77-PRO4-MVP 4 x DDR3 PCI-E3.0 4 x SATA3 4 xUSB3.0 HDMI D-SubDVI-D GLAN RAID QuadCrossFireX A
    Kingmax 8G(2x4G)PC-10600 1333MHZ DDR3
    Western Digital 1TB SATA3 HDD 64M Caviar Blue WD10EZEX
    Gigabyte GF GT630 PCI-E 2.0 1GB 128-bit DDR3, 810/1600 MHz, DVI, VGA, HDMI, Fan
LG H24NS70/90 SATA 24X+- Super Multi DVDR Black
Thermaltake V4 Mid Tower Case Black Edition with 500W PSU USB3.0
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM(Microsoft OEM Terms&condition apply)
Three Year On site warranty(for $0-$3000)Umart System Build Only

    TOTAL : $$1019

That matches up with the $999 deal except with a 3 year on-site warranty (Umart) instead of a 1 year one (COTD).

    Big meh.

    • Should i get 4x8GB RAM?

And i was planning on getting an Asus motherboard? :S
      What do you think?

And regarding Windows 8, how do i change from Windows 7 to Windows 8? :p

      • probably no but if you can afford it, then why not
you just wont need to upgrade for at least 5 years

Hes just listing an example parts list, you can change to any compatible mobo you want or can afford

you buy windows 8 after it launches in octoer 26th
upgrade like normal windows via the dvd/iso image etc etc

        whirlpool is really helpful

        • I haven't done upgrades before…

          I normally do a clean wipe…

Heard there were too many problems with an upgrade? :S

        • If it's like previous Windows, you will be able to do a fresh install of Win8 using the 'upgrade'.

      • The Windows 8 upgrade for $15 offer is available to anyone who purchases Windows 7 or a PC with it, regardless of where they purchase it. See http://windowsupgradeoffer.com/

As someone has said you can do a wipe—>install with the upgrade you don't have to do an actual upgrade. This would be the same regardless of whether you went with COTD or any other seller anywhere in the world.

You can go to the Umart system configurator and configure the system however you like: http://umart.com.au/pro/build_computer1.phtml?bid=2

EDIT 'cause I'm kind of interested myself, this is along the lines of what I'd go with if I wanted a gaming PC with a decent warranty:

        Intel Core i5 3570 LGA1155 CPU 3.4Ghz 6Mb Cache Ivy Bridge
        Asrock Z77-EXTREME4 Z77/4 x DDR3/2 x PCI-E3.0/4 x SATA3/6 x USB3.0/HDMI/D
        Kingston 8G(2x4G) KHX1600C9D3T1K2/8 GDDR3 1600MHz CL9 HyperX
        Seagate SATA3 2TB 7200RPM Barracuda 64mb Cache
        Intel 520S 180GB/SATA3/R 550MBs,W 520MBs/25nm/ Desktop Kit
        Asus ATI HD7770 DirectCU PCI-E 3.0, 1GB 128-bit GDDR5,DVI-I,HDMI,2xMini DP
LG BH14NS40 BLK BluRay Burner OEM
Fractal Design Define R4 USB3.0 Mid Tower Case Titanium
Antec 620W High Current Gamer Modular PSU 80+Bronze, 135mm fan, High Current +
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM(Microsoft OEM Terms&condition apply)
Three Year On site warranty(for $0-$3000)Umart System Build Only

        TOTAL : $$1546

Others might want a stronger graphics card but the 7770 would be plenty for me.

  • No SSD and 32GB of RAM?
Sounds like the type of system COTD would sell.

    • How do i use the SSD?

I was planning on putting the OS on the SSD so that it boots faster?
And the rest of everything on the other drive, incase the SSD fails?

Or should i also put games on the SSD so they load faster?

      • You put the OS, all your applications and one or two games that you play FREQUENTLY on the SSD.

However not all games will benefit from the SSD, games that load all their resources into RAM straight away will just load quicker. However games that stream content from the HDD will have significantly improved performance.

        • I'm having a problem right now, it loads with 800mb in RAM, but when i want to play, it needs to load another 600mb into RAM, but if it doesn't load the RAM fast enough, i get disconnected from the game…

        • +1

Never heard of that problem before… what game are you playing and what system do you have?

  • All of the desktops come with a Gt630…

    • +1

Agreed. This is like putting a lawnmower engine in a Ferrari and expecting it to perform. sure it looks good but don't expect a nice ride.
you could buy these system as parts for about $200 less and for me a COTD warranty inst worth the paper its written on.

  • UP TO $1,700 OFF - AMAZING VALUE!

    lol

    seems overpriced. typical cotd crap

    • This is a slap in the face to older people who no nothing about PC's its very VERY dodgy tactics from COFD

  • when fail of the day resorts to PCs

  • Prebuilt gaming pc's are never worthwhile. Regardless of whether it's COTD or not. Only cheap-ass prebuilt office pc's make sense.

No surprise that these aren't a bargain. Weird configs and overpriced.

    • Hate to be the kid who's parents buy this for as a gift…. its an Internet machine ONLY!! lol maybe you can also use it to type documents too! oh and watch movies.

    • How do i make a gaming PC? :p

  • +1

Overpriced SRP and mediocre configurations for the price. No deal!

  • You can find FAR cheaper and FAR better quality systems from places like MSY

  • can buy pen and paper for $2 in Kmart, no deal here

  • Horrible prices.

  • Smash COTD's face

Some discrepancies in the advertising of the $1399, $1599 & $1699 models:
The "Description" panel says they all have Intel i7-3770, whereas the "Product Specs" panel says they have an i7-3470. a quick google says that a 3470 is an i5, not an i7. The component specs of all three are the same, except for the case. Does a case make a $300 difference?
Similarly, the $1599 & $1699 descriptions and product specs are identical. Both state that they have "Case: Aerocool X-Predator Evil Black Orange ATX Midi Tower Case with 6 x 5.25" bays and 1 x 3.5" bays. Also features front fan, 4x front USB and audio inputs". However, only the $1599 model is pictured with the Black/Orange case, while the most expensive is pictured with a Black/Blue case.
Aside from the issue of value for money, how would you ever know what you are actually going to receive?

  • Who came up with those supposed high-end specs. Who needs 32GB's of RAM. A decent video card (at least a GT650), a monitor, and keyboard-mouse combo would serve the user better.

The GT630 is a slow POS card, not matter how much memory it has.

    • I'm not a gamer, so I can't say how 32GB would affect that experience. But 32GB of RAM with a VT-x capable CPU like the i7-3770 would make a fantastic virtualisation server, particularly with plenty of slots for storage.

  • Dreadful. These guys make alienware look like good value
