Queensland Country Health Fund are offering 6 weeks free on new signups.

Going by the Terms and conditionsit appears to apply to the first 6 weeks from signup, without requiring a wait.

For myself, the rates were comparable or better for the same coverage.

They only offer two tiers, Bronze + and Silver + but the Silver + package has Gold coverage (including pregnancy) for many items.

Another bonus is this is available on standalone hospital cover as well as combined. Many of the other X free week offers are exclusive to combined hospital and extras.

Offer available for new policy owners who purchase one of the following eligible Queensland Country Health Fund branded hospital only or combined covers issued by Queensland Country Health Fund Pty Ltd (ABN 18 085 048 237) (QCHF) between 9:00 am (AEST) on 4 September 2023 and 5.00 pm (AEST) on 30 September 2023:

    And there will definitely be differences between providers for individuals and different states. There is always the option to just switch for 6 weeks then move to another provider.

    But limits reset on your anniversary date.
    So chance is you can claim as soon as you join, even if you have used limits with previous fund.
    Then move to a insurer who resets limits on Jan and claim, then the same for july.

      I just contacted them and it looks like you’re correct that the limits reset upon joining. Seems like a good deal.

        My free month Frank ends early november and have signed up from early nov bronze with $250 excess and top extras.
        Spoke to them and they said free 6 months applies as long as you sign up before 30th sept.

        That should get me till late december, i will claim $300 optical , then ill churn to Bupa as they should have the rewards points promo with free 6 weeks as last year and also claim another another $300 optical and $300 gym membership

            @ozbargainerlife1: They should have a form to declare a health condition. Get your GP to fill it and say your BMI is high and recommend a gym membership for weight control.

            Submit the form for approval. Then pay your gym membership/get invoice and claim whatever benefit they offer

  This is a silly (and simplistic) offer from the insurer's perspective as the promotion is open to abuse. Oh well.

  I need to switch to a new insurer mid-October after the Medibank free period ends.
