  • Bought around 8.26am but looks like I missed it

    • +1

Definitely worth a message to ShopBack about it. I was successful with my purchase as I bought at 8.01am, but I agree that it is dodgy not know whether you will be the first 400. CR system is much better where they would only allow 400 people to opt in and then that's it. At the time of purchase yours would have shows that there were about 50 spots left, so I think fair to expect the bonus. Shoot them an email and see what they say :)

      • Just did. Will see!

  • +9

New to the Westpac lounge and shopback did not make it clear that the amount claimed is 10-15 minutes behind, so I ended up purchasing and missing out on the $20.

I am surprised Westpac allows this to happen as it makes them look bad as well, is there anyone who knows the Westpac contact for Shopback to reach out to? It's only $20 but I wouldn't mind sending a short message to Westpac to let them know that this is happening and resulting in disappointed Westpac customers.

Let's see whether Shopback will refund my transaction, don't have high hopes but let's see.

    • +2

Ordered too when there were slots showing still available and wth did not het the bonus. Not happy SB.

    • +1

See above message - contact ShopBack directly, I am sure that they will provide the bonus as goodwill. If not, then reach out to Westpac

    • Same here. Bought 2x$100 while showing open slots. Dodgy. Will not use again.

      • +2

For those of you who also missed out on the cashback, I suggest sending an email to Shopback specifically mentioning about the misleading nature of the claimed counter and note this promotion is under Westpac lounge, and ask them to either make this right or provide the Westpac contact so you can escalate the complaint.

I highly doubt Shopback would want Westpac know how they mislead Westpac customers, so they should be really willing to address this once we get this issue to the right person.

        Shopback chat:
Unfortunately, our live chat support is unavailable at the moment. Rest assured as we will be back online soon.

Any query that requires human assistance will be attended to via email as soon as possible. 😊

    • +3

There was 20 left before I bought. It became 17 after my purchase. Refresh again and gone.

I will wait a bit and contact Shopback if no bonus. It is unacceptable if the delay of remaining number is true.

    • +1

This is akin to a competition and not standard cashback, considering there are strong rules around competition I would imagine they may be in breach of the law doing this.

    • +1

Same here - purchase went through when it was still showing ~100 available but that went to 0 over the next few minutes before the cashback was approved. I've filed a ticket through the automated support chat so we'll see what happens.

  • Got an email that $20 tracked at 8:31, bought the $200 at around 8.08

  • +1

    Used the wrong card

    Doh

  • FYI the ampol cash back is actually 6%. So 11% off effectively. Helps given the fuel prices we are seeing atm!

    • how come 6%?

  • Can I use mix gift cards and Westpac card for amazon payment and still get the cashback for the whole amount?

  • +3

@gotyourback is there anything can be done here? I bought the gift cards but also missed out, and the "spots left" wording makes it seem like you'll get the bonus, so this is really misleading.

    • +2

it’s only misleading if the counter isn’t updated in real-time when the page is refreshed - if so, then the terms and conditions should be updated to reflect

      • +1

People are reporting that there's a ~15 minute delay when you opt-in vs when the counter updates.

        • opt-ins aren’t the issue here, it’s rewards claimed

          • @tonester: Ok sure, my mistake with wording (I've been up since 4:30am ironically) - however, there is a definite issue with how SB does these types of bonuses.

      • +6

Also, Shopback should do what CashRewards do with the $30 choice gift card promo: specify the exact number of spots for the bonus, and when you opt-in, you get allocated a spot. If you buy the card, you get the bonus. If you don't, too bad - you miss out.

This is a fair and transparent way to do things.

  • +4

Showed 300 participants and didn't get the reward. Hope they can sort this.

  • +6

@gotyourback Hope you are able to resolve the issue for peps like me who purchased few minutes into the deal seeing still about 200 redemptions left in the tracker and ordered the Amazon GCs in good faith that the $20 bonus will track. There was a long lag to update the tracker and this led to people buying the GCs even when probably when the 400 redemptions were done long back. Otherwise you will see lot of refund requests incoming on this one . Surely you can resolve it for the folks who purchased before the redemption counter was marked as claimed/sold out. TIA

    • +3

@gotyourback exactly the reason why I proceeded with the purchase. I made the purchase with the redemption counter sitting at 300 at 8:20am. Yet didn't get the bonus. This is disappointing to say the least and not consistent with the overall amazing experience with shopback over the years.

  • I want to buy something on Amazon, and there is a $10 coupon under the price.
The one you tick the box, and it will automatically apply at the checkout.
What is the chance the cashback will be refused/not tracked when I use it?

    • +1

In my past experience, as long as it’s NOT a manual code you input at checkout, it will be eligible.

  • +4

Let's see how many people purchase and don't have their bonus credited.

And here they come :(. I received the bonus but purchased at ~ 8:00:45.

In case it helps others when reaching out to SB/@gotyourback:

There was definitely an issue as it was still incorrectly showing all 400 remaining 10+ minutes into the deal. When I was credited my bonus from my 45 second past 8am purchase, it then stated there were 114 claimed before me. Presumably those purchased between 8am and 8:00:45.

With persistence, I am sure they will come to the table for loyal OZBargainers. Good luck!

  • Exact same issue happened last time with eBay gift cards. You were warned. Nothing will happen.

    • Ok if they just refund the transactions/GC orders then. There is always a way to make things right when things do go pearshape. Lets give @gotyourback sometime to resolve this

      • They won’t refund a gift card lol

        • +1

Then they will apply the bonus, if not I have got screenshots before and after making the purchase that there was still slots of claimed left. Westpac wont be happy to see a dispute against shopback

  • Damm bought but missed out

  • +24

Hey all, I'm working with the Westpac team flagging the trouble users have had redeeming, will update here ASAP with how I can help out here. There is often a 10 minute lead-in delay where purchases are being processed, so the Challenge has yet to update, which is an issue I have flagged with the team. In future, challenges that are likely to be fully redeemed quickly such as this one will be limited via Opt-In as opposed to Redemption to avoid this. Thanks heaps for flagging all.

    @Renegade @Turd @SydEP @paisedo @pacman21 @jyueli @glassyan @ChaseTheSun @foxpro @Sqz66

    • +1

Thank you for your update. Yess Opt-in is a much better system, this is pretty much like playing the lottery, very unattractive after the fact.

      • +1

as long as this doesn't happen

    • Thanks

    • Thanks GYB, appreciate it!

    • Much appreciated mate!

    • I had the same issue too.

    • Thx for the quick update. Looking forward to resolving this and not seeing this again in the future.

    • Thank you

    • @gotyourback Appreciated your uodate and follow up.
What action should we take? Do we need to log a case?
I don't want to say, let's move on as it is a system delay.
I do everything right and check before and after the purchase except I didn't take screenshot as I trust the app.

      • +6

As soon as I have more info I'll let you know, for now there's no action from your end required mate.

        • Hi, Any updates - should we dispute the transaction on our Westpac credit cards. Looks like we can as we purchased with misleading information. Disputing should get some attention, but hoping you will be putting this right for everybody without this.

    • Seems like I missed out, even though it was before 8.30 and the site implied I was in time. I dont want $200 Amazon vouchers for just 1.7%, I was looking for 10% plus as per the offer. @gotyourback

    • Thanks gotyourback, appreciate the help!

    • This also happened to me when it hit 320, I have raised a ticket with ShopBack

    • Thanks GYB.

same experience here. didnt get the bonus $20 cashback. The most interesting bit is that people that bought after manage to get it, seem like the queue does jump around?

      Timeline:
      - joined the queue at midnight
      - bought $200 Amazon GC at 8.03am
      - received "Order completed for your Shopback Gift Card / Voucher" email arrived at 8.05am
      - received base cashback tracked at 8.06am

      • +1

This can be impacted by the processing time for your transaction, as that will be when the purchase is confirmed on our end. Regardless, I'll update here once I know more on how I can assist here.

        • thanks @gotyourback!

    • Thanks!

  • Why the frenzy for the $20 cashback on $200 unless one has to buy something big in value. We see $2 on $20 and $3 on $30 frequently which is same 10% on top of the usual cashback.

    • +2

One will always need quilton tp lol. I couldnt be bothered to get up early otherwise I'd have bought it

    • +5

Prefer doing one $200 transaction for 10% off instead of ten, $20 trans or 6/7; $30 trans.

      • But this is the way, if you want to stack with Westpac bonus cashback…part pay GC and part pay WP, cant do it when your amazon balance pays off the entire checkout balance.

      • I understand, but, at least they had more redemptions than this, so, pretty straight forward.

    • +1

It was across one or multiple transactions, I went and bought $50/$30/$10 denominations to make up $200.

  • Can someone explain to me how the "queue" function works? You join the "queue" but aren't guaranteed to get it right?

    • +1

From reading these comments, no guarantee unlike Cashrewards

    • Looks like it. I joined the queue at number ~120 just after midnight and it said all have been redeemed today morning

  • Same here missed out , and only genuinely bought Amazon gift cards when there appeared to be spots available, grateful for a favourable outcome.

  • I purchased the GC's when it said there were 28 rewards remaining. Followed up with SB via email and they said I completed the challenge, and to wait 48 hrs. App is still saying "You almost got it, but other participants claimed all the rewards before you completed this challenge." Very confusing…

    • if you have a personal email confirmation, then you should be fine :)

  • +1

What’s the email address for ShopBack ?

  • Queue is nothing, like 'ebay Tuesday' or 'Goal Pizza' you just have to be quick to get it, that's all

  • +1

FYI - anyone who got defrauded by ShopBack today looks like they are refusing to agree that their purchasing queue was behind. I ordered when 100 or so was left. I’m tempted to lodge a dispute with the ACCC. It’s only $20 but I hate corporations that take advantage of consumers.

Thank you for contacting ShopBack! I hope everything is going well for you. 😄

Upon reviewing the challenge progress, it appears that the challenge has already been fully redeemed prior to your cashback being tracked.

I understand that this can be disappointing but the challenge bonus is running in real-time and it is based on a first come first serve basis if your order was tracked after the challenge has been fully redeemed then you will not qualify for the bonus.

Hopes this clarifies, and do reach us if you have any other inquiries we'll be glad to assist.

    Take care and stay safe!

    • It's definitely misleading but see comments above from @gotyourback - they will change it moving forward and looking into what they can do for those effected.

    • +2

I got the exact same reply from someone called Harry. Explained in detail too. The gall on SB’s CS… just own up to your glitch and honour the rewards owned ffs.

    • the challenge bonus is running in real-time and it is based on a first come first serve basis if your order was tracked after the challenge has been fully redeemed then you will not qualify for the bonus.

@gotyourback is this first-come, first-serve basis for all challenges based upon time of transaction or tracking? obviously the former is fairer in case the order of each doesn't match?

      • Typically this is one and the same, as tracking follows individual purchases based on the time of purchase, this can be delayed slightly from time to time based on payment method/processing time from the bank, hence why we recommend using Westpac cards directly instead of Apple Pay because Apple Pay can cause tracking to be delayed for example.

        • +2

Any update for us on this one @gotyourback ?
I am happy for the GC orders to be cancelled and refunded if SB can't meet the commitments of honouring the cashback for people who made their purchases before the tracker showed that claims are full.

          • +1

@regenade: Maybe we should dispute the transaction with Westpac

          • @regenade: Hey Mate,

Can you send me a DM and I will look into this for you.

            Cheers,

            SB Team.

    • I received the same response. In the past Cashrewards has been much better in resolving these sort of issues even if it is a "gesture of goodwill". Waiting to see how ShopBack can make this right in this case.

  • What Westpac card do people use for this? Is the Flex Mastercard Card recommended?

  • Figuring out which products fall into which categories for Amazon is always a mess. What I want apparently falls into arts & crafts, which isnt explicitly mentioned in any of the categories on shopback.

Giving up, ill just go buy something similar from Kmart.

  • +1

Find the 10% Amazon bonus cashback an odd one this time. No t and c's. Normally says ineligible if you don't get Amazon cashback. But nothing. Bought some household groceries and now realised I could have just used my Amazon gift cards and kept my Westpac funds (savings account) as I won't get the bonus anyway.

Do these Westpac bonuses still work so if you part pay with Westpac and the rest with Amazon gc that you still get bonus cashback on the whole amount and not just the Westpac paid part ?

    • +1

Yez they work… only Amazon and eBay works specially different, both can stack GC+WP. So if u have discounted GC, aim for 99% paid by GC and 1% by WP funds, and the cashback tracked will be based upon total amount at checkout.

  • When Amazon purchases usually get tracked? Bought something yesterday, delivered today but no cashback tracked yet.

  • +18

    Hey OZB!

So sorry for the trouble here, I appreciate your patience whilst I worked with the team to get this solved. Thankfully I do have an update here. For those that purchased but missed out, our team has credited the bonus to all affected users this afternoon.

If you have any further issues or questions send us a DM.

    Cheers!
    SB Team.

    • @gotyourback Thanks for coming through, yet again! We appreciate this!

    • @gotyourback thank you for sorting this out. Much appreciated!

    • Thanks GYB 🙇🏻 very much appreciated legend!

    • Legend! Thx for your efforts and support! Got the bonus tracking today!
