Oldubil Cracking down Overseas Accounts and Won't Let U Use Their Card for Turkey Purchases. What to Do for Spotify Renewal?

Oldubil warned about changes to the rules for anonymous cards and recommended "using the balance before today evening"
It is still unclear what will happen to the purchase Spotify.

On October 2, 2023, the Turkish payment system Oldubil sent a warning to customers that anonymous cards can now only be used on Turkish websites with a trust seal. One of the first to notice this was user darios13 from the PlayStation community on DTF.

According to the regulation issued by the Central Bank of Turkey, anonymous cards can only be used on Turkish websites with a trust seal. We recommend that you use your balance before tonight. We will keep you informed.

Oldubil advised customers to use their balance “until tonight”, that is, until October 3, 2023. The company said it would share details in the future.

Some Russian residents use the Oldubil payment system to buy games in Turkey on the PS Store, Microsoft Store and Steam. How the policy change will affect them is unclear.

I still have around 300 Lira sitting just for Spotify renewals, I am not sure what would happen to it? Anyone can help?

It logged me out so I'm trying to find a way to get back in.

        • Me too - appreciate if you can share your findings!

Even when I try to pay directly with the card transaction isn't being processed.

        • have you tried depositing money to the FUPs account and using the debit card on file (spotify didn't ask for 3DS for Oldubil
interested to know - mine is still logged in though so it shouldn't be a problem for me.
Only problem is, my spotify is expiring today and I am trying to fund the account before it tries to renew!!!!!

          • @cheapass88: Hmm.. I just get a failed notification when trying to login or retrieve my password for FUPS (I originally used the PingMe onetime mobile phone technique). Also get a generic transaction failed when trying to use the card associated with FUPS. Interesting that this is seemingly only affecting some though.

            • @DangerDave11: I read you can login with the password and pin? Not needing sms?

I was trying to deposit (still waiting on revolut) but it charged my Oldibul fine at 11:54am

            • @DangerDave11: Did you manage to get back into your account? Same thing happened to me

  • Anyone tried to change the Spotify credit card to a Aussie MasterCard ?
    Edit *
Just tried , Country of issue won't allow me to update the card and , Oldubil card no longer works either .

Just now used my remaining credit to purchase a bunch of games from the Turkish Xbox store.

i used on ebay australian site.

Had by oldubil linked to YouTube premium and the auto payment was just taken about an hour ago

    • Thank you for confirming @epicstalker that is comforting news.

On the surface of this, it looks like existing subs using Oldubil card as the payment method may still renew/auto process existing deductions if funds are present?

Maybe this "Trust Seal" change will stop any new accounts/subs/purchases as it could take some time for compliance from the companies.

Has anyone confirmed Disney+/Netflix or Spotify yet?

Please post if you are successful.

      • Could just be that the block hasn't come into play yet - guess we'll see coming days

  • Because its a credit card, is it possible to just buy stuff online using the card

  • Just paid for yearly Disney sub and added the rest of funds to Apple ID, I had to use support for apple though.

    • I had same issue but used Turkey VPN and worked ok for Apple

      • Which vpn did you use? I’m having same issue with the error. Contacted apple support and they weren’t able to help also

        • NordVPN

          • @mogley: Thanks mate - tried nord, urban and eindscribe. None worked. Also tried to purchase something on Amazon without any luck. Seems like my card has been blocked. Have 1500 TL in account.. guess I’ll just have to wait and see

  • +2

Moved most of my funds to AppleID to keep iCloud storage going for another year, left a bit just to see if spotify will keep working after today. If not I guess it was good while it lasted.

Here's the list of "Trust Sealed" websites, not looking very promising if this was introduced in 2017 and only a handful are officially listed: https://www.guvendamgasi.org.tr/view/guvendamgasi/gdalan.php

    • Did your Spotify renew

  • I also just managed to add to my Apple ID.

  • The latest messsage from OlduBil is that they're apparently looking to continue allowing anonymous card transactions with "Passsport Verification".

This could potentially mean it going the same way as FUPS where you'll need a Turkish Passport or ID to be able to verify the account.

  • Their iPhone app won’t even load now…

I only got onto this hack in the past month and coordinated my family all around the world painfully. Why why why 🤦🏼‍♂️

  • Just tried to transfer money out.
“Accounts that register other than +90 can not transfer money due to regulations…”

    • +1

This has always been the case and not due to recent developments

      • Ah ok. My subscription is due to renew tomorrow. I assume it’s not going to work.

I wonder if I can swap out the payment for my 28Degrees card without causing any Geoblock issues?

  • +2

    Got this message overnight

    Comeback is real 🎮 🕹️
We continue to work on allowing anonymous accounts to proceed with transactions using passport information. Please keep your accounts active to stay informed about the developments.

    • Time to bust out photoshop and bring ArealturKishman to life :)

  • From what I can understand, if you passport verify your account there is no restrictions. Just not sure how many people would be comfortable taking photos of their passport to send it to Turkey.
Otherwise, pretty much nothing changes. You should still be able to use your card as is.

    • +1

Would they verify a non-turkish passport though ?

      • I don't think it said anywhere it had to be a Turkish passport, worth giving it a try. An ID is an ID, you could still be a Turkish tourist roaming about using Oldubil so I see no issue? Otherwise, they wouldn't emphasise passports specifically because Turkish residents already have other forms of ID and not everyone has a passport in Turkey.

      • They must know that virtually everyone with this issue wont be Turkish

Looks like I might be safe until I get my FUPs card funded

(My subscription renews today for spotify)

    • How did you sign up for FUPs without Turkish ID?

      • I used the SMS verification from a random number. it was from a UK blog link from a few month ago. I tried finding it, but I can't

      • Looks like you can't anymore.
Starting to wonder if FUPs will also be blocked.

  • Tried to use my funds on different websites with no success. As I'm going overseas, tried to buy eSIM plan from Maya Mobile and that surprisingly worked.

    • +1

      Sorry. Can you elaborate?

      • I've tried to use my virtual card for xbox, Google play, and a few other websites, but was getting different error messages. Maya Mobile (eSIM) was the only site that I managed to get the transaction approved. Just a suggestion for those who still have money there.

Has anyone got Spotify payment successfully debited from Oldubil account today?

  • I had YouTube go out today.

    • Did the direct debit go through?

  • +2

my spotify subscription through oldubil just went through today on the 4th of oct (3rd of oct turkey time)

    • my turkey spotify account says its due on the 4/10/2023. Hopefully it goes through tomorrow

      • +1

mine said the same but they deducted at 11:54am. Check your previous transactions, it should debit at similar times. (although today was 1.5 hours later than normal)

        • My payment went through. Hopefully this means Spotify payment will be ok going forward

@SpendLess: My friend just changed a duo plan to 2 x individual yearly about 2 hours ago. Also no issues

          • +1

@SpendLess: how you gonna transfer money to Oldubil in future?

            • @Zeee: not sure tbh. Im new to all this and only got spotify premium via turkey few months back. Not much on the Oldubil cc and when it runs out and no easy option to get spotify premium at this price Ill prob just stop getting it.

              • +1

@SpendLess: I use my FUPs card to transfer to all my friends oldibul card. Works fine

  • +1

Didn't want to risk losing even if it's only 100TRY. Used most of it to pay for a Udemy course this morning. Not sure I will ever get around to it considering all the free courses I still have to do lol.

  • +1

Used my existing balance for XBOX game pass, not risking it

Other than fups and oldubil, is there any other alternative?

    • +1

I've done some light searching but haven't had the chance to test yet so not sure if there are any specific ID or verification requirements.

The two names are Opet PeP virtual visa card and Paycell kart.

      • let us all knw how you go with them thx

        • Paycell kart needs a Turkey number for sms verification.

Opet PeP allowed me to get through a number of steps and also had an option for foreign national registration. But at the end there was an error and said to try again later

          • @reivaxX: I am trying to get Ininal account.

            • @SJ50: Please let us know how you go with it

            • @SJ50: Any luck?

              • @reivaxX: Able to create account using AU mob number. I have not transfer any money so I have not tested 3ds.
Good thing is it allows creation of virtual card and support 3ds.

                • @SJ50: Did you have to supply your passport and wait for verification during business hours?

                  • @reivaxX: yes, I supplied passport. It took 5 min for verification and I got my account active.

                    • @SJ50: That's awesome news. Hopefully funding the card and using it will be just as easy 🤞

                      • +1

@reivaxX: I have funded Ininal using Binance p2p, got funded in 3 minutes.
First I thought to transfer using Revolute, but Revolute charging $8 for transfer. Binance p2p is much cheaper and faster.

                        • @SJ50: Oh wow that's a steep fee through Revolut! Which payment method did you select in Binance?

Have you managed to spend the money successfully for Spotify, Netflix, Youtube etc?

                          • @reivaxX: Ziraat bank.
You use any bank which is listed in Ininal.

                • @SJ50: That's interesting. I tried creating an account with Ininal too, submitted my foreign passport (non Australia one) but was rejected on the basis that the number did not match what I entered. which is weird because I triple checked before submitting.

                  • +1

@firestint: May be passport image is not clear and give impression of different digit, like 3 gets read as 8.

  • Do I need to use a VPN to top up Apple Account with linked Oludbil CC ( going through Itunes on PC as i don't own a Iphone? I just tried and it errors out. Also Can't just buy Itunes GC from Turgame as i get error as well. I have 400 lira in Oldubil account for Onedrive/ Office365 Sub :(

    • Try VPN first, if it doesn’t work contact Apple support.

  • +3

I still have 1500 lira in my account. Spotify payment is due today and usually happens at 18:01 Turkish time. So I'll wait and see what happens in a bit over 7 hours from now.

Edit- looks like those times are Australian times. Have just had my spotify renew 20 minutes ago (1901 AEDST) which corresponds to the 1801 times when it wasn't daylight savings.

    • -2

      So did it work.

      • Yes

        • Perhaps all current direct debit will continue to work ?

          • @RHSteven: I have another direct debit due on the 8th, so I'll see if that one goes through and report back.

    • Ah mine didn't work few days ago

  • -2

    Who r oldubil
    ?

    • Virtual Turkish debit card

      • Cheers, they appear to be made/supportive for this sort of thing?

        • Was good for cheap YouTube/Spotify subscriptions with a Turkish vpn

  • I'm starting to wonder if existing subscriptions are going to be unaffected. Enough people are reporting that they're all going through that I would hope/think that this new legislation will only apply to future transactions.

  • I had 7k across FUPS and 2x oldubil cards and found out about the change with an hour to spare!!! Managed to spend most of it, anyways just to report I had signed up for 200gb apple storage and that was successfully taken just now from FUPS. My spotify isn't due until the 17th on oldubil so will see what happens..

    1. No problems with Spotify payments ( just made 1 year payment).
    2. no problems with PlayStation ( just added faunds to my PlayStation wallet with turkey vpn in pc (mobile didn't worked)).
    3. Can't pay in google play store, still have time to my Google One plan i hope until i have to renewal my plan this will work again.
    • How to pay for one year?

    • How to load balance to oldubill?

      • +1

via Binance crypto, u can find some vids on youtube about how to do it

    • how do we pay for a year for Spotify in advance?

      • +2

1 year in advance is available for individual plans only

        • I see, i thought family

        • Yes only individual plan

  • +2

I checked my OIdubil account this morning (5/10/23) and saw a balance of ~133 lira. I managed to quickly get onto the Turkish Xbox site and buy an extra month of Xbox Ultimate pass for about ~120 lira (~$7AUD). The card was already saved to my Xbox account since being used to buy the 3 years initially.

Hope this helps anyone who still has money leftover in their OIdubil card!
