Oldubil Cracking down Overseas Accounts and Won't Let U Use Their Card for Turkey Purchases. What to Do for Spotify Renewal?

Oldubil warned about changes to the rules for anonymous cards and recommended "using the balance before today evening"
It is still unclear what will happen to the purchase Spotify.

On October 2, 2023, the Turkish payment system Oldubil sent a warning to customers that anonymous cards can now only be used on Turkish websites with a trust seal. One of the first to notice this was user darios13 from the PlayStation community on DTF.

According to the regulation issued by the Central Bank of Turkey, anonymous cards can only be used on Turkish websites with a trust seal. We recommend that you use your balance before tonight. We will keep you informed.

Oldubil advised customers to use their balance “until tonight”, that is, until October 3, 2023. The company said it would share details in the future.

Some Russian residents use the Oldubil payment system to buy games in Turkey on the PS Store, Microsoft Store and Steam. How the policy change will affect them is unclear.

I still have around 300 Lira sitting just for Spotify renewals, I am not sure what would happen to it? Anyone can help?

  • just found out my spotify account has been trying to debit my oldubil VCC and getting refused each time..
all you guys who had this setup, whats the alternative??

  • Damn I missed this until now, trying to buy Netflixx Digital Code 200 TR, under e-pin opportunities, just enter my email address, and it says "Important! Pins could not be retrieved" (10444). Even tried with a ph#, and also making sure I use Turkish VPN.

Can't buy itunes because I only have TRY230 lol and need TRY250. Is this just a netflix issue?

    • You can buy 2 x TRY100 iTunes cards and give up on the 30

      • oh, didn't see that option but do now. unfortunately same error :(

Maybe try a different phone number.

  • Google play codes have become availabile in the app.

When I buy one and try to redeem it, google says "google play code country does not match"

Has anyone got a solution for that?

    • I would imagine that the vouchers that you purchase via oldubil epin can only be redeemed against a turkish account.
So following on from the whole theme/basis on how you got into this situation means that you should create yourself a turkish google account and apply it against that account (with the typical VPN caveats).

I didn't choose google play codes, I bought the iTunes and had to create a turkish a/c to redeem there, then used family sharing to share the additional storage I signed up for. Apple was nice and automatically cancelled and refunded me my AUD amount this month

  • Hoping for some help: I sent ~$100 AUD's worth of TRL over via Wise yesterday. The deposit shows up in the "Wallet Transactions" screen and the Oldubil fees associated with the transaction were deducted from my existing Oldubil balance, however the additional amount has not been credited to "My Wallet Balance".

I've emailed Oldubil's support twice to no avail. They didn't respond to my first email, so I sent it again today and they simply replied within a few mins asking for the transaction details (which were already supplied in my original email). My reply hasn't received a response from them.

    Has anybody else experienced this?

Update: So spamming their support email address with requests eventually worked. They added the credit to my account, though interestingly the deposit showed up as a duplicate transaction line item in the "Wallet Tranasactions" screen. I'm guessing the initial transaction line item was buggy and my money would have simply disappeared had I not flagged with/spammed their support.

just curious how you plan to use the balance

Re your question - I transfered funds to buy Baldur's Gate 3 from the Xbox TR store. I had actually purchased some games from the Xbox TR store a few weeks ago without fail, but alas purchasing with the virtual card directly no longer works. However, I discovered a workaround that does the trick:
        1) Buy Microsoft Xbox gift cards via the Epins feature in Oldubul (you can only get 100 TRY per gift card, so repeat this as necessary. No need to enter a phone number on the delivery screen, just enter your email address).
        2) Change you Xbox region from Aus to Turkey. I did this via https://account.microsoft.com/profile
        3) Add the gift card codes to your Xbox balance via https://redeem.microsoft.com
        4) Purchase the game you want from the Xbox TR store.
        5) Change your region back to Aus and download your content.

Confirming the above worked fine for purchasing BG3 Digital Edition just now. The whole process is a lot more fiddley than it used to be, but still something I'm willing to do given the savings vs the Xbox AU store. :)

        • Odd, trying to buy 100 TRY or 50 TRY xbox via PIN gives "insufficient Funds" (10444) error despite having a wallet balance of over 400 TRY.
Maybe they are out of stock and show an insufficient funds error? I am not using a phone number.

          • @Mitrixhimself: Hmm, I'd suggesting contacting their support. I managed to buy ~1500 TRY worth of Xbox gift cards all in quick succession.

          • @Mitrixhimself: Did you figure out a fix for this
