Similar to the Samsung CRG90 from a few weeks back. This one has 144Hz, but lower height resolution (1080px). Still one of the lowest prices you will find for a super ultrawide.

This is the equivalent of 2x 27" monitors side by side, but stretched with a narrower height to make the 32:9 aspect ratio.

$900 for a x1080 monitor isn't what you want unless you have a very special requirement.

  • All these super wide screen monitors are marketing as a "gaming monitor". Are they no good for office work?
I have a 34" widescreen at the moment and I love it… would this 49" be "too big" ?
    Comments?
** I had Jamie look it up for me and couldn't come up with a good enough answer. ;-)

    • I use a 49" DQHD for work. I highly recommend. I also use for gaming but don't recommend as highly (in some games you miss things written on the far left or far right!)

      • I think I'd prefer 1 x big monitor than 2 x smaller monitors.
Is this monitor a "standard" 49" shape/size/resolution/aspect ratio?

        • It's a 32:9 so equivalent to two 27" monitors side by side. 27" at 2k resolution is comfortable and requires no scaling for most people.

    • Didn't hear you promote your "Athletic Greens" so sprung!

    • I use 49" AOC AGON AG493UCX2 for work purposes.
You can use 4 windows side by side, but I personally find 3 side by side more comfortable.

    • Have a friend that got one and said it was great for work but horrible for gaming as a lot of games can't deal with the resolution. He ended up returning it and getting 42" OLED, finds the 42" 16:9 much better for gaming.

      • Maybe 42" wide and curved screen is a nice middle ground between what I have and this big 49" which I feel would possibly be too big for me in the office.

        • I'd love a 38" 21:9 curved. They are still too expensive for my budget though…

I've seen a lot of videos on the 38" and reviewers claim it's the perfect size for productivity.

    • 32:9 actually sucks balls for gaming, this aspect ratio is leagues better for office work, if you want something in the middle then a 21:9 monitor is great for both office work and gaming.

  • you are probably running 3440 x 1440 on the 34" which is similar to 1440p, do you want to run 1080P?

  • These would mainly suit a budget racing sim setup and if you didn't have the PC power to run 1440p. How much is the price difference between this and a 1440p when they have a good deal?

    • The Samsung CRG90 could be bought from the Good Guys a couple of weeks ago for $982 if you stacked with the Ultimate eGift Card deal. Putting the gift card deal aside, the lowest it goes is around $1150-1200.

The Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED 49" can be bought for $1772 right now, which is a far better deal than all of these lower-end superultrawides.

Ive said this before on another prism deal, but here it is again for folks who dont know:

Unless they really offer that much better pricing (which they definitely dont). Do not go for Prism monitors. They are slapped with a huge premium because its an 'aussie' company but in reality just generic made-in-china stuff (not that I have a problem with that, but it should be priced accordingly) stamped with their logo on.

Computer monitors can be had for very cheap in China (e.g: 1440p240hz fast ips 27' ones go for for ~400 AUD and thats not with a sale or anything, just normal pricing, if you go down to lower end 165hz ones, they are another 50% off that) because all it comes down to is the external chasis, a psu, a driver board and the panel. All small brands (even some 'bigger brands') doesnt design anything themselves, they would use generic chasis, psu, oem driver board and with the panel comes from one of the several big panel producers. Everything apart from the panel can be had for dirt cheap and as for the actual assembly - you and I knows already that labor in China is basically slave labor esp in small operations like these manufacturers.

With the bigger brands, especially like say, Dell, you pay the premium for the warranty, the better QC and tuning on their monitors, with Prism? You dont get jackshit.

Prism's price doesnt nearly reflect the actual cost of their monitors and they had the guts to say that:

‘Our direct-to-consumer approach means that we skip the middleman like a traditional physical/online retailers and opt to directly sell it to customers, thereby skipping the unnecessary markups and passing massive cost savings to buyers'

Ive yet to see any real savings to be had here, or with any other prism deal. Much better to go with a big brand even with slight higher $.

    • They are slapped with a huge premium because its an 'aussie' company

they're a budget SG company cosplaying as an 'aussie' company purely to milk premiums.

    • Thanks, I get a lot of ads for Prism and was wondering what the deal with them was.

  • the target audience for a $900 monitor won't even blink to instead spend $1200 for a vastly better monitor.

    • How is the CRG90 a "vastly better monitor" besides the extra height resolution? It's still old, outdated and known to have design issues.

      • The CRG90 is 5120x1440

So, extra height and width resolution.

Do you have one? I have one and I wouldn't swap it for 3840x1080, ever. I think anybody buying this monitor is seriously selling themselves short.

You might disagree though, it's just one opinion.

        • Did you have trouble understanding the whole "besides the extra height resolution?" part of my post?

          • @SvcKpc: That’s kind of a big deal though. Paying $900 to be stuck on 1080 in nearly 2024 is not great…

          • @SvcKpc: No, I didn't.

Did you have trouble understanding that it's not just extra height resolution, it's extra width too?
