What does he say in a nutshell?

      • Why don't you read that book

      • +1

It's basically a black mirror episode.

  • +1

Hoping they can get rid of the terrorists soon so the middle east would go back to normal

    • +8

When was it ever normal? Right before Ottomans collapsed??

    • kek middle east "normal"

you mean just 1 day there isnt a terrorist attack?

    • About 200 years should do it.

  • -1

Well, they now have more phones than people, gotta get some body to use their phones some how

  • Whats happening there? Ive seen no memes about it

  • -3

Soon free calls to Iran and Lebanon too

  • -5

2 state solution with east jersusalem as capital. Either that or total annihilation for the state of Israel by the end of the decade.

    • +1

Israel can’t count on US support forever.

      • +6

USA is an empire in decline.

        • +1

and seriously in debt to the bankers.

      • +5

Oh yes they can, US is Israel’s puppet

        • +3

along with most other western governments, who's politicians are all members of some type of "Friends of Israel" club.

      • US has to back them 4ever, geopolitically they're de most 'westernised' and 'democratic' country in the middle east. Plus, it's a popular US Christian pilgrimage destination. Plus a bunch of people with connections/money have roots there.

    • +3

Israel offered that twice. The Palestinians rejected it. Twice.

      • +7

You read that on twitter somewhere?

      • +5

Did they offer a fair 2 state solution? When was it offered, I’m curious to look it up

Personally it’s hard for me to believe that when Israel have been forcing Palestinians out of their homes for so long. If they were just trying to keep the peace like you seem to imply, why would they move their people into Palestinian homes?

        • +1

Barak offered it at the Camp David Summit in 2000. Olmert in 2008.

In 2009 Netanyahu accepted conditional support for it, but in 2010 Hamas and Hezbollah threatened each other should they accept a deal.

          • +1

@SolitaryMan: Show us the full conditions of the offer? Without this information we can not say whether it was fair or not

            • +4

@mrkorrupt: It all been very, very well documented.

Given your obvious bias I’m not in any rush to hear your opinion on whether it was “fair” or not.

              • +2

@SolitaryMan: Some of the folks here are not super good with history. It's all about emotion. It feels like most their info is taken from some brochure collected at the bus stop. Maybe we need more history book deals around here.

          • @SolitaryMan: Look up Beirut 2002 proposal

            • @alz: The Arab Peace Initiative is a one side initiative for certain principals. These are being discussed and decided by the nations of the Arab League. There was no actual formal negotiation taking place with Israel.

            • @alz: Nothing in it changes what I wrote.

Look up and tell us what happened the day before it was announced?

      • -1

Yes when was it offered, under what conditions?

      • +2

I heard one of the offer conditions were literally to hand over some Palestinian land… 🧐☠️

      • Could Hamas be open to pursuing peace and acknowledging Israel as a Jewish state? On one hand, there's a debate about whether the Israelis have made a fair peace offer. On the other hand, there's no dispute that Hamas currently opposes peace and refuses to recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

      • The only person that offered peace to the Palestinian was Issac Rabin and he was assassinated by the isrealis for daring to do so

  • +4

    Free Palestine!

    • +1

sure ,hopefully isreal can free them from terrorist and their supporters

    • +6

      From Hamas!

    • +6

Downvoting a country that’s been under constant bombardment for 75 years, cut off from air, land and sea and basically suffocated. But sure, go Israel and all of their atrocities.

  • -1

    Lol. The funniest thread ever.

    • +1

No way, this was the funniest thread: https://imgur.com/a/73zsxmV

      • Damn I can’t read it?

        • right click each image and click open in new tab, blame imgur for the crappy ui

      • Surely they got honorary US citizenship out of this.

  • +36

Poor Palestinians, their lives seem not worth a cent for the press, honestly.

    • +23

Absolutely. I watched 7 News at 6pm yesterday and today and not once did they even mention the word Palestine / Palestinian in their reporting. Just Gaza, Hamas, residents of Gaza, and warned of protests becoming violent in Brisbane tomorrow due to what happened during the protests in Sydney. They're really trying to get the point across that everyone in Gaza = baby beheading terrorists with zero reference to the 2 million residents who have had their land stolen from them and being forced to live in what is essentially an open air prison.

      • +3

"2 million residents who have had their land stolen from them and being forced to live in what is essentially an open air prison."

its funny you attack the opposing "propaganda" of the current media cycle, but you post an almost exact quote of said media "propaganda"

        • +5

So how would you define Gaza, exactly?

Herded out of your homes and into absolute squalor, no longer allowed travel around the areas you grew up in, your food, water and electricity is governed by your enemy - sounds an awful lot like an open air prison.

But at least with prison, most people have a certain number of years before the captivity ends.

          • +1

@Deviner: "But at least with prison, most people have a certain number of years before the captivity ends."

yer 74.4 years to be exact

          • -1

@Deviner: An open air prison that receives millions upon millions of dollars every year in donations and choose to use that money to shoot rockets at its vastly stronger neighbour. The mental gymnastics are amazing. 10/10.

            • +5

@SolidlyIrresponsible: Yes, let's say the Palestinians get 10 billion a year / 2 million people

              $500 a person per year
Can you raise your family on $500 Centrelink a year?

              • +1

@mrkorrupt: You don't give money away for Centrelink, you invest it in local growth. You build and invest in your kids and your future instead of building weapons and training terrorists.

Israel has no presence In Gaza since 2005. What have they done with this?

                • +6

@SolidlyIrresponsible: The Palestinians have been under blockade, stop sprouting your lies. Food water electricity only, no luxury only basics, limited movement etc. Please tell the truth stop lying, own the truth

                  • +4

@mrkorrupt: Blockade… don't they have another border with a country called Egypt?

                    • +1

@SolidlyIrresponsible: Just like Egypt wanted to provide aid just two days ago Israel told Egypt approach and we shoot you down

                      • +3

@mrkorrupt: Mate Egypt just said they don't want people from Gaza crossing, what are you smoking?

                        • +3

@SolidlyIrresponsible: Because Egypt doesn't want to be Israeli skape goat. Once again if you check the recent media release from Sisi you will see that he just spoke with Rishi Sunak for aid to Palestinians.

                          This was just minutes ago

Here is a video of Israeli bombing the border crossing with Egypt

                          Once again STOP LYING

                          https://www.aljazeera.com/program/newsfeed/2023/10/11/israel…

                          • +1

@mrkorrupt: Not everything that doesn't fit your "Palestinians good, Israel bad" narrative is a lie. I'm not going to let facts confuse you. Every country in the world would do what Israel is doing right now in a response.

Learn to take responsibility for your actions instead of blaming everything else.

                        • @SolidlyIrresponsible: tbf terror attacks from Gaza have killed multiple Egyptian soldiers, which led to Egypt heavily cracking down on the smuggling tunnels etc. and bolstering their border barriers in recent years. Kind of understand why Egypt wouldn't want to accept those from Gaza with open arms as it would put their own people at significant risk.

                        • @SolidlyIrresponsible: egypt doesn’t want 1 million refugees to feed, and accommodate …

            • +1

@SolidlyIrresponsible: Most funding is via the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, ie 3/4 of Gaza’s population. 280,000 children in Gaza attend schools run by the UN, which also provides health services and food aid.
There's also construction, health services, agriculture and water infrastructure, which are currently being bombed by the IDF, which has a budget of about $20 Billion.

              • +1

@RecklessMonkeys: Sounds about right. I think you are also missing a line the in financial report about the money that goes on weapons, smuggling, training, paying to Shaheed families and so on and so forth.

                • +3

                  @SolidlyIrresponsible: If you say so.
You seem to want Gaza to take responsibility for it's actions, but not Israel. They are both committing war crimes.

                  • @RecklessMonkeys: It's kind of naive to use the term war crime after the atrocities we saw in the last 4 days. Seriously, you can't put the genie in the bottle. War they wanted and war they going to get. It's sad, but removing Hamas is the only move left here really.

                    • +1

@SolidlyIrresponsible: So, once again - only Hamas' actions should be scrutinized. And the IDF gets carte blanche.
There are plenty of things to be done. The first being that Israel should throw that wannabe despot, Netanyahu in prison before he destroys Israel from within.

                • @SolidlyIrresponsible: the rockets are made elsewhere and probably donated and smuggled in smuggling isn’t expensive, neither are digging tunnels as they don’t have tunnel boring equipment, probably done by hand and smaller interest groups, this is a group issue not the whole population.

if you take away people’s hope and future what do you leave them with to live for. hamas are willing to die, and once you loose the fear of dying what do you threaten people with “stop or we shoot you” … sad is the people that just want to get on with life. an enemy with no fear of death is tough to control.

                  • @garage sale: Since 2005, Gaza is independent. Hamas is running it since winning elections at 2006. They could've choose a way for prosperity and growth. Instead they choose violence, rape & murder. I don't think anyone is naive enough to think that all Gaza's civilians are evil. But Hamas has to go. If Gaza cannot get rid of it, the world should.

This whole thread is full of "yes, but", trying to justify horrible crime against humanity and trying to somehow explain what happened as Israel's fault. This is total victim blaming. It's a moral bankruptcy of the highest order and I definitely not moving on with life.

                    End Hamas.

      • +3

and no one apart from Al Jazeera ever (or dare) says the word "settlements".

        • There are no settlements in Gaza strip since 2005. Go read a book or something.

          • +5

@SolidlyIrresponsible: "Illegal Jewish Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem cover 35%."

"By 2018, there were 611,000 Israeli settlers living in 250 settlements in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law."

            • +1

@alidli: And how are they interfering with life of these in Gaza? Seems like no matter what, there is something you can point to and cry foul about. How pathetic.

  • -1

I'm buoyed and proud of our combined aussieness, we are so rational and smart/funny as a people.

    • we are multi culturally tolerant society because we have a reasonable standard of living and opportunities and that fabric can become tricky as the gaps between have and have nots grows politicians call them mum and dad investors for negative gearing and chasing votes, they never call them mum and dad landlords evicting mum and dad tenants, media narrative is orchestrated.

  • +1

Watch cricket. Let them do whatever they want to. Australia has zero power or military strength to do anything.

    • +8

      Aus is a US colony.

      • More like Chinese.

        • +2

Hmm maybe we're just sellouts to the highest bidder.

      • +1

indeed it is, its like a deal with the devil. we will ride uncle sams D and support them in every unjust war they choose to start, in return they will protect us from china if they ever strike. what a shit deal

        • +4

Why would China strike? They are on the other side of earth and don't even dare to strike an island that is just few miles away.

          • +1

@derekek: Because 60mins and Scomo said so. It's obvious Chinese Muslims has more rights than middle east Muslims for the western media to care.
