  • Need a new general purpose torch. This or something else?

    • +1

I think this will fit your purpose as you can dial up or down the brightness to suit your need. Easily rechargeable with the common USB-C port. Another advantage is the ability to use the torch to charge another device such as a mobile phone when needed. This is a pretty handy feature to have. Also it is good that the battery is replaceable.

Personally, would have preferred if they selected the 5000K led instead of the 6500K as the output will be more neutral in tone.

Recently I bought the Wurkkos HD15 from Amazon, and have really appreciated all of its features + the headband. If you're lucky, you may be able to find the version that has a red LED in addition to the others. It also acts as a power bank, which I have not yet taken advantage of but doubtlessly will in my time of need

  • There's an overseas site starting with T that will sell you a super bright, rechargeable torch with three modes and spotlight dial that looks very much like this for about $5 with free shipping. I bought one and it's great…

    • We can’t mention Temu here?

      • +3

Shhhh. The first rule of Temu club…….

      • I don't know the rules so better safe than sorry. I knew people would twig

    • Link?

      • +1

        I bought this one:
        https://www.temu.com/au/1pc-portable-handheld-flashlights-wa…
It's well under $5. There are smaller ones that are cheaper and super powerful ones that cost more. Read the reviews. There are lots of YT reviews as well…

        • I was just ordering it as it says free shipping on ALL orders, only to then say, add more items to make it $15 order as a minimum. Was too good to be true .. backing out ..

    • +1

Im looking on Temu and so many torches list fake LM ratings (you see the videos,) and those that list it are much lower. Assuming this Wuben really is 2000LM..

      • Assuming this Wuben really is 2000LM..

        It probably isn't.
But if it is, it doesn't necessarily mean it's better than a lower lumen torch.

Ledlenser has a quick video demonstrating how the lens etc can also impact the torch (lumens vs lux)
        https://www.ledlenserusa.com/pages/1000-lumen-flashlights

        • Yeah no doubt. It could easily be much better though. Most of the ones i looked at on Temu were clearly only a few hundred lumens and not really any better than the 15yr old thing im wanting to replace.

    • A $5 torch that includes a 4800mAh Lithium rechargeable battery….?

I would be suspicious of the battery starting a fire very soon.

      • -2

Mine is so bright I can barely look at it. I've had it for a few months now. But go right ahead and pay the $36.96 if it makes you feel like you're getting a bargain. They probably all come from the same factory in China anyway

        • +3

"I can barely look at it" lol

Have you ever had a high lumen torch ? You definitely! can't look right at them

          • -1

@Micsmit: I'm never likely to have a super expensive torch as my funds are limited and the cheap one is great for all my torchy needs. Buying straight from the factory store is bound to be a big saving

        • +1

They probably all come from the same factory in China anyway

So there's only one massive torch factory in all of China?

          • -2

@spaceflight: Didn't you know that? lol

              • -2

@purelysam: Amazon are just as bad and sell the same goods for twice the price
But they have plenty of apologists who only want to see American companies stealing your data not foreign ones
So don't be a sucker for their propaganda. Rely on your own experience as I am doing. I'm not handing out their promo or discount codes either, or posting baited links. Just trying to help people get a better deal if they choose it
Sorry you seem to have a problem with that

                • @Marieah: You obviously don't understand the problems with Temu and are too ignorant to do any research yet still willfully recommending it for cheap garbage.

    • +1

Lol. Does it also claim to include a 10,000mAh battery and 10,000 lumen?

  • +3

I thought this was a starfield Digipick

  • +1

    SST40 6500K

As that's the same LED that's in the Sofirn SC18 and Wurkkos WK03 the C2's main advantage would be larger 21700 battery.

    Review: https://1lumen.com/review/wuben-c2/

  • Wu-Ben is forever

  • I got Wuben C3 around a year ago…..the battery died after 8 months. Replaced it with a $3 battery from Aliexpress. Probably won't buy from them again.

    • Wu-Ben is not forever?

      • For me the barrery is not….the torch is still OK though.

  • I've had zero issues with the wuben torches I've bought. All work great. Survive tough work environment with no issues

  • Im a relative beginner when it comes to torches. But reviews (from actual torch sites) on Wubens are generally good.
Overall they’re considered a good budget torch brand that has close to claimed specs.

As far as other cheap torches go , of course you save if getting factory direct. But its almost impossible to know what you’re actually getting as fake specs are the norm.

But for $5 dollars you’re getting a $5 dollar battery , bulb and build. Nothing wrong with that , but understand its not made from the same components as a properly reviewed brand.

  • Got mine today, the build quality looks great. I can feel the heat when on highest mode, but that's expected. Pretty happy with it. Thanks OP
