Picked up this Sony GM lens recently for 1290, after price matching with the Sony eBay Store which currently has it for the same price but with the HGTSAVE coupon, it brings the price down to $1434. This price match stacks with the new MySony account 10% off code on the Sony online store.

Posting this as a seperate deal as I’ve had a few people reach out asking how I got this lens for $1290 from this deal. Was initially out of stock after I purchased, but is now back in stock.

Steps to get this price matched:

  1. Create a new MySony Account on this page and make sure to tick the “ I consent to receiving promotional and other marketing messages from Sony” otherwise you wont receive the 10% off welcome voucher code.
  2. Submit a price match request on this page by pressing the request price match button underneath the add to cart button. Make sure to use the same email that you used to create the MySony account for the price match because they add this to your cart with the adjusted price. Also don’t remove this from your cart once it has been price matched, otherwise if you remove it and try to add it back the price will reset.
  3. Once you submit the price request, use the live chat function (during business hours) to ask someone to price match the product. Just send them the eBay store link and mention that it is cheaper by $120 with the coupon code. They will ask you to submit a price match request form which you have already done. Just tell them that you have already submitted and they will search for your request and approve.
  4. You will receive a Welcome to Sony email with a one time 10% off coupon, enter this at the checkout to reduce the price to $1290.60
  5. Some people had issues checking out with a credit card initially, so it is recommended to use PayPal. I’ve used a debit card and PayPal and both work fine.

The above also stacks with $150 Cashback via Online Redemption if you order between 1st Nov to 3rd Dec. Terms & Conditions

Update 1 [9.50AM 2nd Nov]: Sony have increased their price on their website for the lens to $1645.29. eBay Price is still the same and can still be price matched but will likely be updated to match the Sony website

Update 2 [11.30AM 2nd Nov]: Sony have changed their price on eBay as well, making the deal not that great anymore. Marking the deal as expired, but you can still price match eBay store with Sony online and pick up the lens for $1372.76 after MySony New Customer discount

  • Thank you OP for sharing

Been watching this lens for some time, neat trick to stack. :D

this lens has heavy focus breathing though, works best on a camera body with breathing compensation

  • Oh dang u going for the holy trinity in 1st party glass op?

    • I only got the 35mm and 85mm, I don’t think I need the 50mm for now (maybe in the future if I find another really good deal). This GM lens was already outside my budget but was too tempting considering the price. Even a used 35mm F1.4 GM lens will sell for similar or more

  • +1

Order placed, looks like the Sony live chat is still live so was able to get the above steps done. Now off to sell my Zeiss 35mm 1.4, hopefully for not much less than this bargain. Thanks again OP.

  • How much can I bring down a 135mm with such an offer?

    • +1

It would be $1974.47 price matched with the Sony eBay Store which currently has it listed for $2313.86 - $120 from HGTSAVE Coupon = $2193.86. Then price match this on the Sony store and stack with 10% new customer code which would bring it down to $1974.47

  • Would it work for cashrewards too? Or does the new account discount make it ineligible?

Could be worth price matching and leaving it in your cart until a good Sony cashback boost.

    • Cashrewards didn’t track for me, but it has tracked for others in the past. But either way I think Cashback is technically ineligible on all coupon codes used that is not listed on the cashrewards website. Considering this is a custom coupon code, It likely will be declined even if tracked (my assumption and I could be wrong).

If your cashrewards does end up getting tracked and gets confirmed 90 days later, then that is just a bonus.

      • I'm thinking to simply go for Sigma :D Even after this discount, I can't justify the purchase

  • Nice work on finding the double stacking new customer code. Hopefully they won't switch it off.

  • 50f1.2 or 50f1.4

    • Price difference?

      • f1.2 costs 2000 more. but heavy old, f1.4 new and light.

If you have not purchased yet, there is a $150 cash back for the ORDER BETWEEN 12:01AM AEDT 01/11/23 - 11:59PM AEDT 03/12/23. Link is not active yet. I am sure they will fix it.

Thanks for sharing, I will update the deal.

    • Now off to cancel the order and start the process again. Thanks for posting this. Super cheap now.

      • -1

'Not super cheap' but it is the lens and camera brand to buy.

        • Meant to say best bang for bucks. Agree $1k lens is not super cheap relatively.

    • So its $1290 - $150 cashback = $1140?

      • And I’m going overseas next month so pretty much another $114 off bring it down to $1025. What a steal!

    Lol

    • Hahaa that's hilarious

  • do i need this if i have a 24-70mm F2.8 GM ii?

    • of course, + the 24 and 50 gm

  • Had a hard time deciding between 24 and 35, went with 24.

35 is a better all arounder if you just want to carry 1 lens.

    • what do you use 24 for? landscape?

      • +1

Landscape and people. I used to use 24-105 as primary, carry the 24 just for indoor and low light situations.

Then I switched to 50 as primary, depending on occasions, I carry either the 24 or 85 as secondary.

35 is a good option, but it's also neither here nor there. Especially when shooting indoors and back against the wall, 35 is not wide enough.

  • I signed with a new email but couldn't get 10% off code to my email (did tick the 'receive promo…' ), anyone can overcome this issue?

    • I would check your spam/junk emails or try signing up again with a new email. I haven’t had any issues before.

  • did anyone successful match the price from sony?

    • Yes, I’ve price matched two lenses use this same method in description without any issues.

      • How long will the price match take?

        • I didn’t wait for them to price match. After submitting the request, I started a live chat with them and they can look up the request and approve it instantly. Just let them know that you have submitted a price match request and give some info on what you price matched/which site you are price matching.

        • if you dont start the live chat process like OP said - it can take a few days.

  • Does anyone know how long the price match is valid in cart for? Would love to purchase next week so it's within 60 days of travel to claim the TRS. Not liking the chances that the eBay code is still working by then.

    • +1

I don’t think it expires (I could be wrong). I’ve left an item in my cart for over a month and it was still there with the same price. You could just live chat with them if it disappears and just give your price match reference number for them to add it back.

    • I've had stuff in there for over 6 months.

    • Thanks guys good to know, it’s waiting in my cart but quite nervous waiting as they just increased the ebay price so unobtainable if I had to do it again.

  • Thanks OP

Managed to buy it this morning before Sony increased the price this morning.

Will travel overseas end of this year, will try to claim TRS, for my first time. Hope that the process won't be too difficult.

  • Will this trick work on Full Frame E-Mount FE 85mm F1.4 G Master Lens ?

    • it should

      • The price on ebay store is same as their website so dont think its gonna work.

        • it isn't. $1680 with the ebay code

  • long queue in Sony chat, lots of price matching going on

  • shit ordered with the 10% off without the price match

dam, feeling like a loser now

  • +1

Lol. I submitted the price match when the deal was still active without using the live match. They finally got back to me and gave me the price, days later even after it's been changed.
