Edit: Further price drop to $236 for Black Friday, a no brainer at this price.

Good pick up for the hayfever season. As cheap as it has been from previous deals:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/786865.

Doesn't require Amazon Prime as I've just ordered one myself without a prime subscription.

The Winix Zero+ Pro 5 stage is also on sale for $399

Filters are expensive at RRP ($149) for example here and here. I'll probably be looking at some generics from Aliexpress.

Looks like Amazon is selling replacement filters for $84 here for significantly cheaper. Its for the Winix 5500-2 which is the American model, but reviews state it's compatible with the Zero 4 stage.

And for the incoming bush fire seasons. Couldnt sleep well nearby fire last time.

  • good finding. looking for compact price dropped

Always check filter availability online before buying an air purifier. I.e. can you get em on amazon.

    • +1

      This.

Posting an air purifier deal without the price and availability of the filters make it impossible to judge whether it's a good deal or not šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

Much like buying a printer, the consumables are almost the most important part of the deal !

      • +3

The deal is for the air purifier. It's not the OP's responsibility to look for filter availability or pricing and include that in the post.

As you've already pointed out - ongoing consumables are important to factor India. But no one expects someone to post a printer deal as well as the ongoing consumable costs as they aren't part of the deal.

You can easily find pricing for filters on Amazon, AliExpress and eBay.

        • Agree. Like a car deal, and commentators asking the OP to also list cheap petrol stations šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

          • @dangerdanger: Dumbest example, comparing petrol stations to specific filter model is like comparing wall sockets to specific iphone battery

          • -1

@dangerdanger: No, it's absolutely nothing like that.

            What a bizarre analogy.

You are aware that every purifier brand/model needs it's own unique filter ?

            • @Nom: Let's post the details of all the consumables for each deal…

        • -1

I disagree entirely - I will always include the consumable costs if I post a printer deal, they're arguably the most important spec of the deal !

          • +1

@Nom: Looking forward to your post on printers, and their consumables…

          • @Nom: 7 posts in 13 years… ok then

  • -3

@brifog please include the cost and availability of the filters in your post šŸ™

      Done

      • Awesome, thanks šŸ˜Ž

  • The Winix Zero+ Pro 5 is cheaper with eBay Plus for $389 delivered using coupon 'PLUSNOV'.

  • Is this better than the Xiaomi air filter?

  • This is an awesome product, especially during spring, bush fires, and for those with dust, pet and other allergens. Filter should last one year (subject to usage) just vacuum the filter(s) every week or so.

    For filter, get this one.

I'm using this product for last 3 years and works great. I change the filter every year.

  • The Winix Air Purifiers are very good and are made in Korea,. If you have a Brick and Mortar store in your area I would suggest giving them a ring and see if they will do the same price.

  • Same price as Ausclimate website

    • +1

Ausclimate are the Australian distributers for Winix. And it's their Amazon shopfront that has this deal.

      • I know they are the distributors. I didnt click into the amazon page to check but it is also available for $299 at officeworks, and healthy habitats. May see more places drop their price tomorrow.

  • For anyone else who is a light sleeper, I bought one of these a few months ago and returned it because even in the quietest mode it made a high pitched whine. It has no internal schedule timer to make it turn off at night, and can't be used with an external one, so I returned it.

    • +1

Maybe try the 5 stage instead. It has a sleep mode and is almost silent at night time. If you've got a whining sound, it's faulty.

      • This one also has a sleep mode.

The sound of the air moving through the unit was actually very quiet and unobtrusive but yeah, issue seems to be with QC. I doubt the subtle high pitched whine I had would even be audible in a factory environment.

        • Get in contact with Ausclimate and see if they can help. I've dealt them for an issue I had with their first release of the compact purifier and they are fantastic to deal with. Aussie based company and very customer focused.

    • +1

The unit also plays a short jingle when the timer runs out. Not sure how to turn that off, but might annoy those are light sleepers

    • I don't know about this particular model, but other purifiers with plasmawave have this high pitched noise issue - but only when plasmawave was enabled. Might be worth looking into this.

      • No I checked that, it wasn't it. I also have a different branded filter with that function and that doesn't make such a noise either. It was some kind of electronic noise coming from the motor, maybe stator whine.

        • Sounds faulty. I have 3 winix units (very very old) and none have any high pitched noise. Can hardly hear them on their lowest settings.

    • That was the 'Plasmawave' working !…..can be disabled…(importers website explains in the FAQ)…… just set the timer 1,2,4,hours etc before you go to bed

Choice test results from Feb 2022 are about average
    Overall: 68
    Dust: 66
    Smoke: 66
    VOC: 31

    Xiaomi 3H scores
    Overall: 66
    Dust: 67
    Smoke: 66
    VOC: 43

  • We just bought the Samsung AX90 for $475, seems a bit overkill as it is very big, not sure if we'll gain anything to replace it with this Winix?

    • +1

Don't understand the question the way it's written - but you're comparing the AX90 with a CADR of 710m3/h with the Winix delivering 390m3/h. Purchase the purifier that meets your clean air delivery rate and dbA requirements. You can never have too much clean air but $ and noise are the compromise.

    • +1

If you have the AX90T7080, that may have been the highest rated air filter in the choice 2022 test so the winix will be worse.
      Overall: 87
      Dust: 95
      Smoke: 95
      VOC: 43

      • Those numbers unfortunately don't mean much - how do you judge a smoke rating and suitability when the size of the room changes? The clean air delivery rate per sound level should be the critical numbers to compare.
The ax90 delivers 710m3/h at 54dbA and 540m3/h at 45dbA (or around 12-13m3/h per dbA)
The winix delivers 390m3/h at 51dbA - (around 8m3/h per dbA) which makes it considerably louder per m3 of air cleaned.

Then you have aesthetics, cost and filter replacement cost.

        • what would the noise level of the samsung be if you ran it slower to match the winix? It could be similar or even less when not running at max and you wouldnt need to run the samsung on max if you were using it in a smaller room that would be suitable for the winix.
I believe those factors are factored into the overall score. I cant post the whole teat result here.

          • @8azinga: Lower noise level in my comment above. Yes it is quieter but my point is those ratings don't tell you much. The unit is also significantly bigger. If you only need say 250m3/h, would you want a unit that is so large when the winix will do the same job at a smaller total footprint? I would but many wouldn't.

  • List at the same price at https://ausclimate.com.au/collections/air-purifiers (with free shipping)

But they'll also send a 10% off code if you leave a product in your cart for 24-48 hours

Brings it down to $269 for the 4-stage (or $359 for the 5-stage, which I've gone for)

    • +1

Use the coupon code 'THEHEALTHYHOME' for an additional $40 off, bringing the total to $360 delivered for the ZERO+ PRO.

      • THANKS for that …. got one….officeworks would have beat the Amazon 5% (making it 380) but your tip for $360 is better
        from my receipt (ZERO+ PRO 5-stage Air Purifier Ɨ 1 THEHEALTHYHOME (-$39.99) $360)

Thanks OP. Bought this in conjunction with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/815248 If it tracks, I'll managed to have only paid $206 AUD, and the link to the filters is useful as well.
