This monitor is back on sale and now cheaper by a considerable amount than last time. At 18.5" this monitor is certainly pushing the boundaries of what's "portable", but still smaller and more compact than a bulky monitor with a stand. At 100Hz this one is good for gaming, supports 75mm VESA mounting and has a fold out stand.

Featuring an 18.5" display with 1920x1080 resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, 100Hz refresh rate, HDR, 300cd/m² brightness, 100% DCI-P3, 100% sRGB colour gamut, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 3ms response time, 178° wide viewing angle, dual speakers

There's two USB-C ports for display/power and power input, PD passthrough charging, Mini HDMI and a headphone jack. A Mini HDMI to HDMI cable, USB-A to USB-C cable and charger are included.

Is there one that is touch screen with decent resolution (is that the right term? I mean 4K or similar) that is around $200?

Also, these don't have batteries, right? I'm planning on using it for playing Switch in comfort on an Aeroplane, but not sure how i'd power it.

    • same questions here

    • +1

It's can power by a beefy powerbank.

    • +1

A mate of mine used a 25,000mAh power bank with Type-C to power his portable monitor (something like this) with his Nintendo Switch

  • Couldn't see the weight anywhere - do you know? Cheers

  • Not accepting the coupon code for me …

    • Ok … entered code manually and it worked.

Now Ppal not changing to USD …. aarrgh

      • Finally worked … it better be a good monitor :)

    • ran out of pronounceable names lol

  • Hey guys how is this touch screen monitor for USD 204?

  • What do you use this for?

    • +1

I have mine with my Xbox Series S in a carry case for an easy gaming setup when travelling.

    • Extra monitor for Work-From-Home

  • Can someone explain the use case here? It's like a tablet but worse and a laptop but worse and a TV but worse?

    • +2

It's a portable monitor like the name suggests.

I use mine when I'm travelling for work and need get some work done in the hotel room when the single laptop screen itself doesn't cut it - 2nd monitor when viewing multiple documents etc is great

      • +1

So to confirm this allows you to extend the monitor screen instead of just duplicating the main screen?

        • +4

Extending or mirroring of the primary display is controlled by your OS, not the display. So yes.

      • Ah, right. Seems like an extremely niche case but I guess I can see how that would be useful.

        • How is a second monitor 'extremely niche case'?

          • @MonkDog: A second monitor in an environment where you have no access to a real monitor or a TV with an HDMI connection seems pretty bloody niche to me.

            • @caitsith01: Do you work in an office or with your hands (feet?) somewhere not at a computer?

              • @Thiefsie: I have two 32" 4k screens for work. I don't feel the need to carry them around with me, and when I need to travel or work out of the office, I make do with my MS Surface.

For this to be useful your requirements are that you need more than a laptop screen but adding another pretty tiny screen is somehow useful to you, you need to move it around constantly and you need to have no access to another more substantial monitor/screen. I can't see that being too many people.

Anyway, not trying to have an argument with anyone.

            • @caitsith01: Using a TV as a second monitor seems like a pretty bloody niche use case to me.

It's not a tablet, laptop or TV.

It's a small monitor man. So it's not worse than any of those above items if you want a small monitor.

              • +1

@MonkDog: Right, and I was just genuinely trying to figure out who needs a small but portable second monitor. So I guess it's business travellers who can't make do with a single laptop screen.

The TV example was simply that to my mind, if you're desperate enough for a second screen that you would carry this around, you could just carry an HDMI cable and use the TV you would find in 99% of hotel rooms (if not annoyingly locked down).

                • +1

@caitsith01: I like the idea of this for me when I WFH and can't work in my study - ie. have to watch a/the kid/s. I can set this up on my dining table and take it away at the end of the day. Yep pretty niche, but not super niche. CAD work on a single screen blows chunks, no matter the size.

                  • @Thiefsie: Right, that makes sense. And yeah, I am not doubting the need for a second screen - I typically have 3-5 separate documents I need to refer to at once.

It’s like you made a comment but worse.

I'm sorry, are weird portable monitors your close personal friends?

        • He/she is just smartazz

    Gamut value: 100% DCI-P3 ???
high end monitor cant even display 100% P3………………………

Chinese colour gamut like Chinese lumens tends to be exaggerated to a degree.

  • That "Matrix color depth 6 bit" spec is a bit concerning. Surely it has to be at least 8 bit?

    • +1

I'd say so. Looks fine in pics.

The code also works for ZSUS 15.6" screen from here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/800805

    Paid $124 for it.

    • +1

Thanks I just ordered the zsus too

    • Did you pay $124 inc tax?

      • Yes, that's what I paid after putting in the code. Before the code the price was $137 with the standard discount currently running on their store.

The code doesn't work now though, it now says that the code has been claimed.

  • If I plug this into a macbook pro, will the macbook power it??

    • +1

Received mine recently and yes it can run directly from a laptop.

  • Cmon… need deals like this on touchscreen models!!!

  • Can these 100hz monitors run at 60hz?

    • Depends on your OS. Windows? Yep you can do that in display settings.

      • Planning to run on a Mac, I can do it with other monitors I just wondered if there was a hardware restriction at all with this specific monitor.

Need to run at 60hz on my video production environment to avoid phasing issues.
